'tyleR Posted July 6, 2012 Report Share Posted July 6, 2012 Not bad, but feels kind of plain. The lighting could use a bit more work, but I like how you actually used and incorporated a light source into your tag. Be careful of saturation and contrast, too. Too much of either could ruin the color depth of the tag. You were bordering on that here. :PP Keep it up, though. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lunar Origins Posted July 6, 2012 Author Report Share Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks! I was really trying to focus on smudging and lighting. Updated with two new variations. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
.Rai Posted July 6, 2012 Report Share Posted July 6, 2012 Second probably best. The tiny text seems distracting more than anything, since it steal a little bit of focus from the focal. Shadows are really burnt out in the first, and the highlights are really bright (in the first one), which is pretty much why I like the second better. Otherwise, decent tag :3 Probably work on defining your smudging more. It's a stylistic point, but minor. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Night Posted July 6, 2012 Report Share Posted July 6, 2012 Relatively decent. From what I remember you are imrpving. Thing you should take into account;

How harsh the lighting is, if more than 2/8's of a piece is illuminated, you're most likely doing something wrong.
That and lighting without a shaded region cannot really be considered "lighting", when you illuminate one area, you should darken up the rest of the piece to give that lighting a bigger impact. What you need to remember is, lighting is a tool used to drag the viewers eye to the focal.
Speaking of which, you've got no flow, much less depth. More tuts will do you good. Tormented Posted July 9, 2012 Report Share Posted July 9, 2012 Eh might just be my computer but the render looks VERY Choppy almost to the fact that it kind of hurts my eyes, also the lighting seems a bit too forced if you get what I mean.
