(New Xathers Single) Draw Out

Draw Out

Trap/Normal

Activate only during your opponent's Standby Phase. Pay 800 Life Points; Look at your opponent's hand and target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in that hand. Your opponent must Normal Summon that targeted monster at the start of this turn's Main Phase 1 (the targeted card cannot be sent to the Graveyard, returned to the Deck, or Banished, from the hand before then). The Normal Summoned monster's effect(s) are negated and cannot be activated. If there are no Level 4 or lower monsters in your opponent's hand at the time of this card's activation, they can draw 1 card.

Er, I think I've missed something.

... what was it now? I think I can saw it go past me a moment ago, maybe...

... oh yeah, I know, it was the point. What is the point?

2000 LP for a card that may more than likely end up a -2, or lets you choose their normal summon which they may well have used anyway, and negating any effect it might have had that activates on the field. But doesn't stop it attacking, being used for Synchro or Xyz Material, etc. Oh, and you get a free look at their hand.

So yeah, the point?

It sounds gimmicky so I kinda like it lol

I mean you could force a Veiler to sit out on the field but that doesn't really matter if your opponent can special summon around it. It doesn't sound like it stops any major plays though. More like you have delayed a strategy that you now see coming (which in today's meta is not really necessary because you know how every deck intends to win anyway) at the cost of 2000 lifepoints. To be honest the 2000 lifepoints is what gets me because I would hate to pay 2000 lifepoints to have my opponent draw a card. Maybe you could drop the lifepoint cost down a bit.

It's a very situation-specific card which loses its use beyond the first few turns as the hand empties, which some people may find too specific to run, but on the other hand, they might force out an Effect Veiler here, a Tour Guide there, and, I don't know, Rescue Rabbit everywhere? It might even be a useful side deck option against, say, Piper variants; who knows? The one thing I dislike about it is the LP cost imposed -- apart from the hand knowledge and the potential pre-empting of a Veiler or a Tour Guide and a waste of a Normal Summon, there ain't much else. I'd rather you remove it altogether, if I were you.

It's a mediocre card, but let that be reserved, for it is intriguing, and I like it.
