Wow you guys. Just wow.

Looks like I'll have to be the buzz kill. We need to hold it down on the off topicness.

@Blu: Hehehe, that was funny. I really enjoyed that. I wished that the remake went somewhere but you vanished right when I had started it. I had so many ideas for it too, but no need to fret over the past :P

Dharc, you didn't actually needed to go that violent though. You could've just knocked the Arkolve out. Just something to know next time your facing those or other monsters.

Hotaru, yup, some of the best action movies are made just by pure violent scenes. Though I hate torture movies...

I actually thought it was good. I love violence and gory things. Thats what makes movies awesome!

Only when it's done to humans. When it's done to animals, even if it's special effects, I begin to loathe and despite the creators.

It's only best when it's done to humans. Because then you can see them beg for mercy, watch them cry, watch them bleed and scream for forgiveness, watch them in the end pray to some god...

I felt that given Alexander's situation, though, it was his only option. I originally planned on using Anima to subdue the arkolve, but I thought it would be too easy. Then, I read the bestiary entry for the arkolve, and I don't quite think Alexander is as skilled combat-wise as Cael and Ikeno, so it would be a bit problematic for him to subdue such a creature. Finally, I decided to play off of Alexander's nature, and did something no one would expect him of doing—kill an animal in a totally gruesome and barbaric fashion, merely as a last-resort maneuver. It made the most sense to me, as I wanted Alexander's strength level to be believable at this point in time, but I also wanted to show people he had the capacity to kill something quickly, if need be.

tl;dr— I wanted him to not seem too strong, so I gave him a cheap, hollow victory, which was also totally out-of-character.

Also, CHARACTERIZATION. Now you all know just how terrified Alexander is of a.) Arkolves and b.) Killing things.

Death, I'm scared of your mind and its dark secrets...

Dharc, yeah, totally unexpected, but good character development none the less. Next chapter we'll be facing an army of Arkolves... lol jk xD

Hotaru, now you made me want to go search for some action flicks on netflix

What? You act like feeding babies their own cooked kin and bathing them in their parent's blood is a bad thing.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with that. It's a part of society nowadays. Seriously...
