Headmaster Monokuma
Well, I just added Delibird to Team Trainwreck, so I'm ready again. Like what? It didn't really add anything other cool then reusable TMs, imo. I still haven't finished my Nuzlocke that I started like, a year and a half ago too. >implying it's ever gonna happen I doubt it.
f*** yeah.
The number of HMs has been reduced from eight to six. In international versions of the game, non-nicknamed Pokémon names are displayed with only one capital letter, rather than having all capital letters prior to Generation V. TMs now have infinite uses, like HMs. The overworld music also changes in certain circumstances. Almost all the routes now have instruments that differ between the seasons, and layers that activate and deactivate when the player walks or stops, respectively; while music that plays in some towns and cities have layers that can be added by talking to citizens. These people can be seen playing different musical instruments like piano, guitar, etc. The battle music changes under certain conditions. When one of the player's Pokémon on the battlefield has less than 25% of their HP, the music changes to a faster, more suspenseful music. When battling a Gym Leader's last Pokémon, the music also changes. The Poké Mart is now combined with the Pokémon Center. The addition of 92 new moves, bringing the total to 559. The addition of 41 new abilities, bringing the total to 164. Many older Pokémon are allowed to have new Abilities, including some that were introduced in Generation III and Generation IV, by transferring them from the Dream World. This effectively gives most Pokémon three legitimate abilities, rather than the two which have been standard since Generation III. Rotom's appliance forms are now no longer Ghost-type Pokémon; instead, they are Electric and the type of their special move.
I'm a big fan of atmospheric things, and I felt like this Gen had the best atmosphere out of any of them. It's possible, as unlikely as it is. I dunno, it just never "clicked" with me. It could be I'm just getting, gasp, bored of Pokemon. The BIGGEST change to happen in ANY Gen was the Physical/Special Split. After that, there's not much to change cause the formula works. All you can do is change minor things and add in new moves, abilities, and Pokemon. Anything bigger is left to Spin-offs and the-much-wished-for console games. THEY'RE THINKING ABOUT IT MAN. THEY COULD MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Shradow
I'd say Gen V had some fairly big changes (relatively speaking). Aside from what Dane said, we also got triple/rotation battles and in-battle idle animations and camera movement.

I just dropped it before the 8th Gym and had to force myself to continue 4 months later. And now you bring up the Console Games. Great, first you tease me with R/S remakes and now you bring up the Orre region. Jerk.

I can see why the region/games didn't really interest you. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the gameplay introductions. I'm more interested in the competitive side honestly, and Gen 5 did a lot for it. I understand Fighting games because of the skill/mindgames, Starcraft for the skill/quick thinking & reaction speed and MOBAs for...well, okay, I don't get MOBAs. But still, can you just like explain in a really simple way how it's competitive? Like, uhh, speak Texan. No wait, valley girl. That's stupid enough. Anyways, I've always been curious as to how it gets competitive. And yes, you are an ass.

Different moves are more optimal on different Pokemon. Find out those combos, you have an edge. Different teams need a different Pokemon and a different balance then the next. You can't just slap any Pokemon together and expect to win, compared to a team that had thought. It's not easy to explain honestly. DIfferent pokemon fill different niches and you just have to have a team that can counter those, but still be able to fight. Good.

A metagame that is dominated is a bad one, as it shows little room for flexibility in the gameplay of others, unless they expect to lose. That's why I always liked Marvel, the metagame changes every other week, first it's rushdown, then it's keepaway, then it's teleporting mindgames etc etc. This seems pretty cookie cutter. But w/e, I'll figure it out for myself as I get pummeled by you or Black or Clair.

Hell, Ceada uses Hail Stall. If I didn't ban Weather, guess what she was gonna use. Without Weather, everything else gets a chance. Hell, anything already can be viable. Tier's in POkemon don't work the same as, say, Yugioh. Everything in a lower Tier has a chance in that Tier simply because the higher Tiered things can't kill it there. Go to Smogon. Look at the Tiers each Pokemon is in and read the description on some of those Pokemon. Start in NU. Persian is a great Scout in NU, but Liepard gets use as well as one. Different Pokemon can be chosen over others. Hell, Dream World changed a lot of things by giving certain Pokemon certain abilities. It's really interesting since some Pokemon counters others, which are further countered by other common things. It's all about being able to predict what your opponent might have and being able to do it consistently. By the way guys, gonna be posting pairings in a minute, so yeah. If you aren't ready, just let your opponent know when you will be.
