Minecraft Fanfiction (because there isn't enough of them)

I wanted to make a FanFic about this topic for awhile. Its an aspect of Minecraft that sort of takes away its innocence, and is always lingering on the back of your head.

[spoiler= Chapter 1]

“Hello, my friend. You’ve been asleep a long time. But that IS to be expected, I did gas you after all. Anyways, don’t worry too much now, we have a long time to talk, you just get some rest. When you WAKE UP, the real fun begins.”

The man walked out and I sat there, tied up with no way of telling when it was or where I was or who that guy was. All I knew was that I was here, in pain, about to fall asleep.

I didn’t wake up in the room I fell asleep in. That place was dark and empty, scary and alone. This place was bright, it was luscious. This place had color and wildlife. I saw trees, fish, and cattle. I could smell the flowers, god the flowers, and feel cools ocean mist on my face. My face. I looked at myself and panicked. I has no fingers, no toes, no feet for that matter. The once-beautiful hills were blocks and the tree bark had no texture. I was a square mounted on a rectangle. After the initial fright wore off, I got accustomed to it. I also noticed that in my fetish, I could easily break the dirt and sand. Not only that, but they came out in neat, even packages. The trees fell apart with relative ease, and I somehow knew how to mold it into pieces. I made a crafting bench, a shovel, a pickaxe. I made the world around me my play thing and it felt good. That was when night fell.

At first I was afraid of night. I got flashbacks to the dark room, the haziness of the gas and the pain of the blackness, and then I felt the sand again and was brought back to my new world, my new home. I went back to work as usual when I felt a stabbing sensation on my back; a spider had jumped on my. I tried flinging it off and realized this spider was huge. It stood half as tall as I and ran back at me. I drew my sword and slash. I drew my sword and killed.

The killing came harder than I thought. It was just a spider; I had killed many before I was… back when I was at my apartment. But this one was different; it felt like something else, something like me. It was pain-ridden and wanted to make its way in life, or whatever this was. I took the string it dropped, it left. This piece of thread was like a reward for slaying that which had lived for so long, which had gotten so big. I took it and placed it into my pocket and looked around. I couldn’t find any other spiders, but I did see another man. His arms were out stretched and He was walking around. I called out for him but he didn’t hear me.

I was a fool back then

I ran towards him and he walked toward me. I called out to me and he- he groaned. He then started to grab and pull at me and I pushed him off. HE came back and I cut at him, knowing I had to fight or else he would kill me. I slashed again and again until he fell. I was afraid and began looking for shelter. I ran for a hill and started digging into it until I was shot in the back. An arrow had pierced my skin and I could feel it. I wasn’t mortally bleeding like I should be, but I certainly felt it and the other that followed. I spun around and saw the person- the thing that had shot me. IT was humanoid like I, but it had no mortal flesh. It was a creature of pure bone wielding a bow. He shot at me again and I ran aside then toward him, cutting as I got close, until he died like the spider and man before him.

After I slew the third creature that night, I cried, cried like I hadn’t since I was a young child, playing computer games with my brother. My brother. I couldn’t afford to think of the past or else painful memories would arise. I instead decide to look for water. I searched no to long before I came across a pool of clear water. I leaned down and drank from it. I opened my eyes briefly and looked at my reflection.

My terrible, horrible reflection.

Looking back at me was a man. He had a beard like mine and a square nose like mine, but his eyes were not mine. His eyes were ghostly pail and haunting. Whoever that was looking back at me hated everything and in his white eyes harbored a thousand screams, a thousand dreams. I flicked my clear eyes to the corner of the pond to see a green creature, gasping at me. I turned around to get a better look at him. But he blew up before I could.

[spoiler= Chapter 2]

I had to WAKE UP after I died. I later found that’s how it worked out. Someone had to die in order for me to WAKE UP. The man was sitting across from me, sitting in a metal fold-up chair looking at me.

“So you finally decided to WAKE UP. Have a nice nap?” He knew I couldn’t respond, but he still paused so I could think up my answer. “Let’s get down to business, I don’t like beating around the bush. Do you know why you’re here?”

I shook my head and he hummed. “I would should have guessed that. I hear your brother is pretty busy these days? I hear he’s invested in that computer of his; working on a game.”

My eyes widened in horror. I was kidnapped and tortured for a game my brother, who I haven’t spoken to for weeks, is making? This was madness.

“Now, I know it’s a bit early. But I see big things in store for it. That’s where you come in. I want you to get close to your brother, let him know you love him, and get a foothold in that game. Get creative, I don’t know. Just make sure you get a cut of the profits. I’ll give you time to think this over.” I don’t remember what he did next, but I do remember a stabbing, burning pain. IT was intense, enough to knock me out.

Enough to make me dream.

This new world was much like the previous one. It too had trees and grass and sand and animals. It had caves and flowers and water. However, this world had 2 things the other did not. The first was lava. It glowed bright and red, emanating heat. I found a pool of it close to just in the ground, almost randomly. I built my new home around the pit and got it erected just before night.

I was smarter this time. I knew to stay inside; to hide from the creatures of the night. When morning came, I went outside to explore more of my new world. Aside from the lava, everything seemed normal, but something bothered me. I found a tree top floating in the air, like I had harvested the first pieces of wood, but not the last one to make the top fall down. Driven by curiosity, I pressed forward and found more anomalies: pits of dirt dug out, crafting areas littered about, and a chest filled with sandstone. I took the sandstone from the chest, intrigued by the intricate patterns and inspecting how to make more. I looked around and saw him

The second thing that was different.

There was someone else here. He looked a lot like me, but his eyes were normal. I ran back a few steps and hid behind a tree so I could observe my new guest. He was busy building a shelter like mine, but it was more like a pyramid than anything. The thought intrigued me. I had never thought of making something other than a straight-forward house. Looking at him a little more, I realized he could see nothing past a few feet (or blocks) in front of him. He never noticed a tree farther away, didn’t pause to inspect passing wildlife, failed to see me as I got closer. As I got nearer and nearer, I could sence who he was, I could detect a name. “Notch”. For the longest time I only knew him by this name. Notch was a fellow explorer, a partner in this crazy dream world.

I soon found Notch less interesting, he was breaking and placing bits down, almost testing the environment around him, so I went back to the lava with my sandstone. I crafted more of it as I pondered my new friend, he seemed like more than a figment, more than a dream. However, before I could think of it too much, I slipped. I fell in the lava and had to WAKE UP.

[spoiler= Chapter 3]

I woke up gasping, frightened. I hadn’t expected to fall in, so suddenly being in the dark room made me afraid. I must have been loud, because soon after I woke up, the man came rushing in ,checking my pulse.

“Glad you woke up, I was afraid I had killed you that time. You’ve been out for almost a day now.”

A day? That wasn’t possible; this dream was shorter than the one before. I noticed this as I dreamed more and more; the length of the dream had nothing to do with the time I was asleep. Sometimes I would dream for hours, and only be out for minutes. Sometimes I would dream for minutes and be out for an hour. It made for a confusing time WAKEING UP, but it also meant that I was safe from my longer dreams taking up too much time in my real life, whatever that was now.

“Today you’re leaving me. They grow up so fast.” I could sense the sarcasm in his voice “I have some very simple, very specific rules for you. IF you break one of them, I’ll break you, got it?” I nodded curiously, wondering how he would know if I broke a rule without having to practically hold my hand. “First, you’re going to go outside and call your brother, tell him you’re coming in to town for a week or so. Then you’re going to take this ticket,” he waved a plane ticket in front of my face “and go meet your brother. Then, you have fun. Be a sibling and get some money. I don’t care how, as long as you don’t el anyone about me. Today is July the 8th, you have 3 month, until October the 31st to bring me 3 million dollars. Simple, right? Once you get the money, pop back here, give it over, and you’ll be free.”

That was it. He untied me, gave me my phone, a suitcase with close in it, and the ticket. He shoved me out the door where I called Markus. We talked a bit and I could tell he was excited to see me but I was afraid he could tell I wasn’t in to it that much. I hailed taxi and got to the airport. Soon afterwards I was on a plane, asleep, going to Mojang Headquarters.

For once I wasn’t in my dream world by force, I had chosen to sleep and it made this place seem more… authentic. I instantly dived in, breaking down trees and making tools. I wasn’t satisfied by my current hills and sparse trees, so I roamed around a bit before the sun sank. I saw a taiga on my travels, but thought it was too cold for my liking. Seeing that my times (and options) were running low, I tailed it back and made a hole in the side of a hill.

The next morning, I found a desert and started making my usual sandstone. 64 of it and I was off making my shelter, this time with a plan. All my other homes were dirt and wood constructs that were made in panic, but now I had an advantage. I knew what I was up against and I had time. Getting creative, I made a pyramid out of my sand and by the time I had it lit and ready to house me, I was proud. It was the first time I had made something real, so I sure as hell stayed a while.

The next 4 days were mostly spent mining, and eventually I had full plated iron armor, with a sword made of the same materials and a pickaxe, likewise. The most interesting thing I found were bluish gems, sparkling like a star and harder and more durable than anything I had ever found. I only managed to retrieve 2 of them, and was holding them for something special. Something practical.

The remainder of the pyramid’s loot consisted of 3 buckets filled with magma from the earth, as well as one with water. A plentiful supply or iron, red circuits, and more stone and sand than I could count. I left because, with the finding of the diamonds, I felt that location couldn’t offer much more. The Earth had given me its spoils and wanted me to leave, so I did.

Following the sun, I traveled for 2 days, and settled. The location was near a lake and hosted an ample supply of trees, animals, and space, a great change of scenery from the desert I was in before. Once dawn arose, I built my log cabin, with a farm, storage chambers, and living space. It was cozy and warm and… had neighbors?

Yes, 2 people, living deeper in the forest. They too had a home, but it was much bigger than mine, and seemed well off. If ever one needed something, they would go into a room, grab it, and come out. It was amazing what they could fabricate, armor, tools; in no time the tag-team had built another structure, not as large but still impressive. What struck me odd was this building’s lack of doors, or a front wall. It was made to be moved in and out of with ease and that just what they did. In the last minutes of the day, the team walked in and out, but I had no idea why; my spying location allowed for minimal information.

Night had fallen and the two were out killing creatures for their supplies I assume. I decided to take advantage of their absence and investigated the mysterious new building. It led down, far down, on a 3-wide natural staircase. At the bottom, it opened up into a large tunnel running side to side, with smaller tunnels branching off. I- I didn’t understand at first, but then I opened one of the chests near the stairway back up. It was filled with resources. Iron, diamond, circuits (“Redstone” as the chest filled with it was labeled), so much was in there, and it still didn’t occur to me what exactly its purpose was, and then it hit me.

They were harvesting the Earth for its resources. Defiling it, opening up every little corner, cheating the Earth for their own gain, and it was sickening. The air was filled with sorrow and pain and I had to do something. In my rage I took everything, the stone, gold, and their diamonds. I ran up and got to a hiding spot just as they returned and as predicted, went down the mine. And I followed, like a shadow I went down, keeping my distance and using my lava. I knew its powers well and dumped one bucket on each path up. In my rage, it was glorious.

I loved seeing them burn up and run around. And die. One quickly went, the one that spent a fraction more time in the lava. He disappeared, as did his friend. But not before he saw me. He looked right into my eyes and died with me watching.

I WOKE UP, rage satisfied.

For the record, NONE of the chapters meet the chapter length requirements.

It must be 2 pages long at size 11 in Microsoft Word.

I dunno if I'm backseat modding or not, but rules are rules.
