Delete the "maximum cards in deck" rule.

Recommended Posts

This is because of this thread. I just realized it was illegal, but you know...as you'll see as you read through, it has a valid reason for it. It isn't like the typical "my deck" that runs Battle Ox.

I request deletion of the 50-card-limit rule.

How come? I mean, similar to card list placement, I've always thought that the default position of any kind of right was to allow it, unless you could come up with a decent reason to disallow it.

I always figured the 50 card rule was just an arbitrary line in the sand mostly to prevent annoying spamming. But then Konami changed the rules of the game and made it 60 cards maximum anyway.

... I just don't see why it has to be 50 cards as opposed to the Konami maximum.

Like the Pirate Code, I always thought of this rule as a guideline. Its more of a, "Don't post stupid lolyugi decks" thing than an actual number limit.
Why everybody always jumps at the chance for change on the forum, regardless how small, baffles me.

It's because, like Tsukasa said, jagoffs like to rule shark and it derails a thread.

Because with the lack of an active admin, there is very little we can actually do to change the forum. So any attempts that actually meet with success are hailed, because the rules are just about the extent of the things we can actually change.

But I'm sure evilfusion (and Seph because I suppose he's back for a while) are smart enough to know when a thread should be locked and when somebody is rule-sharking and being a general nuisance. Rule #1 is mods have final say.

Does this mean that the current forum is so bad that we desperately need and hail change? I'm serious. Are you saying this place is bad and needs to change, or that everybody hails a minor change because they have the "power" (and what's power if you can't use it? ;D)

In all honesty I don't care. But somebody should probably get a/both Your Deck mods here.

This isn't a point-counter-point kind of a thing, so let me write it again because it's pretty much the crux of the argument:
the default position of any kind of right was to allow it, unless you could come up with a decent reason to disallow it.
So then, is there any reason decks in Your Deck should be limited to 50 as opposed to 60?

Honestly, no. If a deck functions and isn't some silly EVERYTHING-AT-1-WITH-NO-THEME type of deck, I don't see any reason for it to be forbidden.

A while back I made a 60 Card deck, everyone who posted gave useful suggestions except one person who decided to b**** about it being 60 cards. As long as there's actual effort, and using that term kinda loosely here, put into the deck, I honestly don't see any it shouldn't be allowed.

But why not just prevent rulesharks by removing the rule? Especially when the rule is unneeded?
I know mod has final say but that doesn't mean we can't get rid of an unneeded rule.

Because in my imaginary world people read the rules before posting, so the rule in question stops at least a few lolyugi decks. I'll be damned if somebody tries to break my fantasy. D=

I honestly don't care either way. I just started this because all the threads filled with meaningless "good idea, support." bugged me for some reason. :S

Except that the actual game, created and approved by Konami, has an upper limit of 60. In private, it really doesn't matter, but anyone who tries to stick to the rules is going to go with the 60 limit. Why the hell would you want more than 60 in the first place?

You probably wouldn't, basically because for most decks, any more than 60 cards will throw off the balance. Come to think of it, even 60 card decks don't typically do well.
You literally cannot go over 60 cards and have a legal deck.
Some 60 card decks work though.
