Were you ever the odd one out?

Recommended Posts

Have you ever found yourself loving an anime that everyone else hated or hating an anime that everyone else loved?

For the first, I don't know if it's high-key enough, but I enjoyed the Wolverine anime despite the fact that it sucked on a bunch of levels.
The latter, I could not get into Azumanga Daioh despite everyone saying how funny it was. I just sat there stone-faced and bored before I gave up on it.

I found myself resisting an anime everyone liked...5D's. Eventually my friend twisted my arm to watch 2 months after it started with how great JACK is. (I forced myself to watch it if it wasn't for the twins I'd have stopped)

I don't care for Naruto or One Piece, and Bleach became a chore to watch after that part of the Soul Society arc where the cat girl stops the Ichigo/Byakuya fight to give Ichigo 3 days to train because DBZ power level BS, then escape without even trying to rescue Rukia WHO WAS RIGHT THERE, so I stopped watching. That, and after watching episodes of the Fist of the North Star series, I realized how much the fights in Bleach sucked. I watched some of Naruto, but couldn't get into it, mostly because my brother wouldn't shut up about it, and I watched One Piece when Cartoon Network ran that arc that introduced Sanji, and it dragged on and on and was boring. And before people tell me my dislike came from watching the 4Kids dub, it wasn't. My dislike that grew for 5D's after the Dark Signers arc came from me watching the Japanese version, and I don't care what language an anime I've decided I don't like is better in. it's not worth my time to watch the same crap in a different language. The dub of the Fist of the North Star series was horrible, but it still captured the cheesiness of the Japanese version.

If so, I thought it was awesome.

I actually find One Piece to be underrated in the west, being either dismissed along with Naruto and Bleach or falling into obscurity compared to those two.

Also, I can't stand moe blobs like K-On! They contain so little artistic effort.

I don't want to sound like a generic bawwer, but I honestly think it's because 4Kids got hold of the franchise instead of Funimation, where it would have been broadcasted on Meguzi and Toonami like Naruto and Bleach were and got more attention.

You can't say there was much effort in anything related to K-ON :/

It's probably because the One Piece anime isn't so great, and maybe because One Piece in general doesn't visually look as good as Naruto or Bleach. Maybe I'm just artistically blind.

I like Naruto and Bleach, and I'm indifferent towards One Piece and know the main reason I don't like it is because I don't read the manga. I usually think most of the things I don't like are pretty obscure (as in, obscure for a reason: they suck)...then I find out people think Elfen Lied is the most amazing thing ever or something. I dunno. Most things I don't like I drop after one or two episodes and forget about, so I can't remember them enough to hate them.

The art is one of the stronger points of K-On!. The writing, on the other hand...

Personally as far as this thread goes, I absolutely hated Ouran. I don't understand why everyone else loves it so much, I really don't.
