Tentacruel
So I'm working on this little project and thought you guys might find it interesting. I'll try to keep this thread updated as I develop it. I'm programming it in C# using XNA 4.0 and it currently has about 1300 lines of code. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE6KcUPQF3o&feature=youtu.be As you can see, it's still in the early stages of development. Discuss so I don't go insane. Feel free to suggest things although there's a 84.7% chance it will be too complicated for me to implement.
.Rai
I'd highly suggest adding a gimmick. At the moment, even as an early concept, it's far too similar to the endless ocean of arcade shooter games. Space shooters is an exhausted genre. Although I don't really plan to widely release this, but rather am just practicing my programming skillz. But yeah even then, it needs something cool to make it less forgettable. It does look really neat this early though. Very cool.
Sploda
Should make it candy themed. Don't see many candy themed space shooters. Captain Gumdrop has to defeat the invading Jellybean armies in order to protect his people, and so he uses his trusty Chocoshooter to venture forth and save Sugarcaneopia. /random
That's, actually not a bad idea. Not necessarily candy specifically, but making some obscure theme would be a lot easier to implement and a lot more attention-grabbing than trying to add some complex innovative gameplay element. burnpsy
Yeah, I was also about to make that suggestion. Generic space stuff is just plain overdone.
Shradow
Turn that little spaceship into the Groosenator and make it a Groose-themed space shooter.
Tentacruel
Turn that little spaceship into the Groosenator and make it a Groose-themed space shooter.
Unfortunately, copyright will make that difficult but SOON my friend. SOON. I have actually given serious thought to, in the event that I get a team together and make it big, talking to Nintendo about making a game called Grooseland. But until then, I suppose I could make a Groose fan-game. But it wouldn't be a space-shooter.
Sploda
Groose deserves a Punch-out game.

Yasu
Play with the size, angle, speed and acceleration of the bullets. Don't be afraid to incorporate patterns and gimmicks from other games.

And yeah, I'm still tweaking the specifics of the bullets.
Phœnīcius Infīnius VII
Looks cute. Like Gallaga. Except better lol. I'd play it

Currently working on kamikaze enemies but they're freezing the game.
burnpsy
Freezing the game? Why? [/is making a much, MUCH more complex game in C# right this second if you forgot]
Dr. Cakey
The single most important thing it needs right now is [s]Groose[/s] some kind of indication that your bullet has hit a target and not destroyed it, but done damage, since right now they just disappear.
