Agro
I kinda laughed when I realized that the Literature one got locked, though I didn't really look to find out why. Anyway, The Great Gatsby is going to be made into a film for the sixth time when it is released this Christmas. The music appears to be fairly recent, at least the preview used such. Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim Jason Clarke as George B. Wilson Brendan Maclean as Klipspringer Callan McAuliffe as Young Jay Gatsby Sam Davis as a Barman Gemma Ward as Catherine, sister of Myrtle Wilson Gus Murray as Teddy Stephen James King as Nelson Jens Holck as a Monk Max Cullen as Owl Eyes Also posting this because I finally realized what makes The Great Gatsby good: The characters seem fairly likable at first, but then they slowly deteriorate and suddenly you just love to hate them. That's the point of the story, many may not find it entertaining, but it doesn't matter since if it was entertaining, it would defeat the purpose. You're supposed to hate every character in the show and it gives insight to the time period. Anyway, I realized that I've always wanted a story where the characters start out good, deteriorate quickly, then, if possibly, die. (for those of you who were unfortunate enough to see School Days) I didn't realize until about now how Gatsby almost completely does this. I can't say that any of the characters ended up living a happy life, so by that I actually feel good about it. Anyway, the cast choices look amazing... except Tobey Maguire making me confused. The director is good, the movie looks fit for modern viewers while sticking to the time period. Overall, it could be great... though it WILL be in 3D... then again, you don't need to watch it like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rARN6agiW7o Anyway, discuss. Vairocana
Baz is a good choice for director. His style is going to mesh really well with the concept of the "roaring 20's", imo.
