"Excuse me, Ms. Louise, but should you not be greeting the commoners? Today is the celebration."

Louise, not used to being referred to by her usual name these days, retorted. "Linda, I thought I told you not to refer to me by my given name."

"Sorry, your majesty."

"That's better." Louise groggily rubbed her eyes open to the sight of a familiar maid. "Linda, please get my coronation outfit."

"Yes, your majesty."

Linda helped the Queen dress, and before long the duo was out of her room and into the main hall. As today was the Queen's birthday, commoners were allowed to roam the main hall of the castle as well as they courtyard.

"I hate this tradition," thought Louise as she looked upon the commoners, who were awestruck at the construction of the gothic castle. As the Queen approached the staircase descending into the crowd, a servant stepped forward to announce her.

"Announcing her majesty, Queen Tarika!"

Thunderous applause broke out in the large hall, and Louise returned a wave. When the crowd went silent, Louise said "I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for coming to my home today." She put on that ever-familiar smile. "I do hope you all enjoy yourselves."

With that bit said and done, Louise descended the staircase, greeting a few commoners as she made her way to her throne.

"Did you hear that?" Said Robert, who held the hand of a blindfolded girl. The odd pair, an old man and a young woman, stood out among the crowd of commoners in the Red Queen's court. The girl couldn't help but be awestruck by the beautiful voice of the Queen. A smile formed from ear to ear on her face.

"Yes! I heard her. She sounds just as divine as people have described... and she seems just as kind." Her smile showed a row of perfectly conditioned white teeth. The old man chuckled and led the girl to the nearest banquet table.

"I think you might be able to meet her, Miss Aria."

"Really?" Aria's voice squeaked with excitement. To meet the Red Queen.... it was something she only dreamed of.

"Really. This is her birthday; many people like us get the privilege of having an audience with her today." The man pushed a small bowl of soup in front of Aria, who tested it with her fingers before carefully beginning to eat.

"I would absolutely love to meet her in person... Oh, I do wonder, what is the color red like?"

Robert gave another lighthearted chuckle. "If I had a penny for each time you asked that, I would've moved on from my position a long time ago..."

"So tired..." - Damon yawned as he sat on a chair in the castle's main hall. After hours of walking, he had finally reached the Queen's castle. He could see crowds forming, but the Queen was nowhere to be found. When he tried to stand up, he heard a man announce the Queen, and everybody in the room applauded, except for Damon. He just stared in awe at the woman; his father told him that she was an evil woman, but right now she looked just like any other person. - "Sigh...if it weren't so many people here, I could get closer." - he decided not to try anything risky now, and just sat there while the Red Queen approached her throne. Damon heard a man talk next to him, and turned. It was an old man talking, next to a young girl, who was blindfolded. She sounded excited to meet the Queen. - "These people...they have no idea, do they?" - he sighed, and kept observing the ceremony. - "I totally forgot, damn..." - Damon quickly searched his pockets for a couple of black leather gloves and wore them, just in case anyone saw his Mark.

Corona City. It was the home of the rich and home of the cruel as far as Heikichi was concerned. He considered it a place where the slave traders sold the weak and the nobles could extort the common man behind the walls of their estates, all with the Queen's support, who was more cruel than all of them combined. As Heikichi walked down the paved streets, he knew that each one of the stones at his feet were placed by the hands of a hungry man, forced to do harsh work to ensure his family could have a few crumbs to eat at the end of the day. Every group of well dressed nobles who walked by, clucking on about some opera they saw the night before, reminded him of the hundred peasants who worked their fingers to the bone, only to have the fruits of their labor taken from them so that their lord may buy a fifth silk robe. The bourgeoisie made Heikichi sick.

Having remembered what happened to the last person who had a star shaped mark on his hand, Heikichi had wrapped cloth bandages around his hands, allowing for the loose end to trail behind him. His clothing, or lack thereof, made him stick out from the rest of the crowd walking down the street. Perhaps walking around in nothing more than shorts and shoes was not the best idea if he wanted to infiltrate a royal party. Quickly, Heikichi walked into a dark alleyway and flew up to the rooftops, making his way to the market. Buying the first set of clothes that looked fancy enough, Heikichi donned them and made his way to the party where the Queen would make an appearance. The black suit he wore was restrictive and the bandages trailed out of the sleeves, but a necessary precaution to avoid drawing too much attention to himself. Heikichi hoped that one of the generals, lips loosened by liquor, would give him information on actions by the Queen's army to retake the newly independent Zaun.

Passing the guard at the entrance, who only gave a passing glance at Heikichi's small stature, Heikichi made his way to the lower area, where the commoners were relegated to. Heikichi looked through the crowd, but as expected, the generals did not mix with the common people and were probably at the higher levels where the nobles ate and drank. The gate separating the commoners from the nobles had guards at its sides, checking the invitations of the fat nobles and their fat wives. Heikichi would have to steal one of the nobles' invitation. Before he could, he heard fanfare that announced the Queen was about to address her subjects. Despite only speaking a few words, the people cheered and applauded her. Heikichi was angered by this. What had the Queen done to earn their respect? All she did was raise taxes on the land to make her court richer while the poor suffered and gnashed their teeth in dungeons, imprisoned when they were forced to beg on the streets. Heikichi decided to take a seat where the commoners gathered, his height once again attracting some curious glances since his feet barely reached the ground from his sitting position. Being short wasn't easy...

Nate had finally made it to the castle after a couple of days of walking. He stood in the courtyard, overshadowed by the castle.

"Huh, nice place." he thought to himself. From there, he could see people walking into the castle. Many were average looking folks but many were also nicely dressed and pampered looking. He started making his way into the main hall of the castle when he heard everybody start applauding. He didn't hear what they were clapping for, but he soon realized that they were applauding the queen when he saw her.

"Not bad." Nate said as he joined the short applaud then stopped as she began to speak.

"I do hope you enjoy yourselves." the queen said right before she started making way to her throne.

Nate walked over to a banquet table and grabbed a small piece of food. He couldn't exactly tell what it was but he ate it anyway. His face turned almost green as he realized that he really didn't like the taste of whatever this was. He swallowed it down and took another look towards the queen.

"I don't see what all of the fuss is about. She's a six at best." nate said laughing. "It must bee all of the royalty foo foo that makes her reputation." he said. One of the other people gave him a nasty look. Nate just smiled and shrugged.
