Why is Self Destruct Button considered good?

Recommended Posts

The card is not "good" by any stretch of the imagination.

It is for trolling. Either by using the Self-Destruct Button OTD (One-Turn Draw) Deck, or using it as the card that mocks your opponent when they finally press past your real win condition, usually some sort of stall based Deck.

I have only used it in a Final Countdown Deck because the Deck stalls like mad without damaging the opponent, and should the opponent break through your stall options and attempt game, this card makes all their effort pointless. It's not a card that wins. It's a card that makes you NOT LOSE.

That's why it's a troll card. It's not designed to win games. It's a card that is only run to make the opponent angry that the time spent Dueling you was just a waste of time.

I can see it used in a show or story where a player is so egotistical or plot-related circumstances make it so losing is the worst possible fate and victory is not a real objective. When one's objective is to win, and yours is simply not to lose, whatever means you must take to prevent your loss while also preventing their victory is valid (such as destroying Macguffins instead of protecting them). It'd be like ripping up the Numbers or God Cards so no one in the plot can have them all.

Of course I love a good troll card like this. So what if it can't win duels and makes around 80% of YCM mad. The other 20% like me are cooler than they are. Just because I'm approaching 400 draws on DN doesn't mean the card is good though. And that's coming from the guy who was Button obsessive to the point where Canadian was ranting about it at YCML. However, it has a purpose. And I will always use that purpose to troll and to have a lot of fun. Any future compainers will be met with a "umad?".

Nobody thinks this card is good.

And then like... the rest of his post was completely incorrect and then a bunch of other idiots continued compounding wrong information onto it.

Okay.
