Thar
Mine is still the best used one and everyone wanted me to go get more wooden dowels to use as cores.
I recommend PVC for cores, cause they're cheap, you can get them in bulk at Home Depot, and they're about as sturdy as you can get.
if that fails I'll upgrade to mother f*cking metal pipe cores if I have too! LOL
All jokes aside, that's not a good idea. Not only would they make the weapon very heavy, but they're more expensive and they don't play well with the safety guidelines...iow they hurt. Oh and also, that guy that insisted on using bamboo...he's an idiot.
The Warden
In terms of LARP weapons, a scythe or some form of pole-arm is my first choice. Side bar, I have been sniffing a box of eclipse mints, and it feels good.
Mints? Eh . . . not really my thing. They burn my nose and I don't enjoy them at all.
I recommend PVC for cores, cause they're cheap, you can get them in bulk at Home Depot, and they're about as sturdy as you can get. Well I would go for PVC cores but to be honest I still think that the wooden dowel is good because it is actually cheaper than the PVC pipes and is most likely equally as strong. All jokes aside, that's not a good idea. Not only would they make the weapon very heavy, but they're more expensive and they don't play well with the safety guidelines...iow they hurt. I know that it is heavy and is not regulation. But again . . . as a last resort. Oh and also, that guy that insisted on using bamboo...he's an idiot. Spirit of DMG
Yeah, I think you did say that you liked him but disagreed. Though, there is a reason bamboo swords are used to train swordsmen. They are more likely to break before they break someone's bones. Wouldn't tdo any good to the shogun if the samurai killed each other in training, now would it?
Jake the Sage
Yeah Donovyn I know that but here is the thing, I own a bamboo sword and it is already cut up then tied back together. They do this to ensure that it wont actually break again and if it does not so badly. They're using the main shaft of the bamboo without breaking it in any type of way, so when it breaks it is done; luckily though I've convinced them that just take off the broken parts and to rewrap it. Jake the Sage
Okay new update. Since it is getting pretty d*mn close to Halloween I decided to throw together an AMV in my spare time as well as a short story; no I have not finished or given up on the Trio of DEF sequel. These are just something for the holiday. While the AMV is finished well . . . the short story is taking longer than anticipated and probably won't be out tomorrow. I'd love it to be, but it probably one be completed. But here is the AMV (83) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1MrlglRFZ8&feature=youtu.be
Desu the Blue Nerd
So any news on the short story? Also, maybe a bit late to mention anything about Halloween but I might as well. I did practically nothing. It was my mom's birthday but she had plans with the older crowd so we didn't really do anything until the next day. Just handed out candy to a few kids. That's it. So how 'bout you guys?
The Warden
Stayed at home and licked my wounds. After hearing from Agro about being able to read your rep history, I went and read mine. Man, I was REALLY b***hy 1 year ago wasn't I?
Desu the Blue Nerd
I tried to check mine out. Pretty much just a bunch of posts. None mine. Supposedly reps I had given others A vast majority had no reps given to them. I don't f*cking get it. Anyway, you seemed fine to me. No real change that I've noticed.
The Warden
Oh, if you go to the spot to the right of the 'given' square you'll find a hand appears, which is where the 'received' bar is supposed ot be. So then you can see what posts had gotten you reps. I had found that I had gotten some reps from the old Hotel, including my post where I wrote "As much as we try to deny it, Trolls are a sub-species of Humans, like Furries and the French." Desu the Blue Nerd
Did I rep that? Because I still just got a kick out of that. But yeah, I guess you still don't seem too different. Apparently my three most repped comments that are all 6 are being reincarnated as a pidgeon so I can sh*t on people heads, "Now you know how I feel when somebody talks about their love life on YCM" (in a thread made by Halu called "Not Giving A Scented Crap" where he complains about somebody but I didn't bother to read the thread so I'll just assume I'm clever), and in a thread about an overaged guy who wants to bang my hypothetical daughter. Anyway, thanks for the tip.
Jake the Sage
Okay everyone I'll give my update about what happened for Halloween with me and about the short story. Well, for Halloween since no one wanted to go all the way into Georgia to see my cousin and his three children for trick-or-treating we just went with the cousin who lives close by and her daughter for trick-or-treating. I'll be perfectly honest that at the time I was more than happy just to hang out with her and her daughter- mainly because I like the daughter. Now the short story is almost half way finished and since it was supposed to be a Halloween themed story it of course keeps in with the spirit of the season. So sorry if it is a little out of date sounding. Now for what has happened recently, I got to go see "Wreck-It-Ralph" with one of my ex-girlfriends and then bought her dinner at IHop; afterwards we hung out at a friend's house and he ended up teaching me how to make my computer make different sounds when doing something like starting up. But back on topic, if anyone else hasn't seen the movie and has been debating on whether or not they should go see it my opinion is go see it. Desu the Blue Nerd
Good to know the story's being worked on. I'm looking forward to it. I already do want to see Wreck It Ralph. I'll probably end up watching it when (assumptions here) it's at the cheap theatre near my dad's apartment. Probably with a few friends as well. I figure I'll have some money by then seeing as how I start my job on Tuesday and will be working quite a bit. Did the math and I'll make $300 in my first two weeks. Of course that's not including tax, gas, and $50 a month I have to pay my dad for insurance. But that should still be a pretty decent amount of money to spend on whatever. Just not on my friend's tickets.

Jake the Sage
The short story I was talking about isn't the Trio of DEF II that I have been working on. I took some time off of plotting that to work on this short story and what not. So the two are integrated but at the same time not the same thing . . . does that make sense? Jake the Sage
Okay well I am going to resume finishing up the later half of the story and once that is done it'll probably be time for dinner. And then I can resume work on the actual story and let everyone read the short story.
Desu the Blue Nerd
Good to hear but I'm not completely sure if I'll be able to read it when it comes out.
