The Warden
Jake, random tense swapping breaks the flow of the reading experience. It's just tedious having to mentally converted it to the proper tense
Thar
Is it bad that I don't mind tense changes? I mean, as long as the story is narrating the same setting, it's a lot easier to blur your eyes to it. Same with flashbacks. The thing to keep in mind is to make the time transitions obvious. Lack thereof is where inconsistent tenses would be mentally confusing.
Jake the Sage
Has anyone ever seen "47 Ronin" yet? Is it bad that I don't mind tense changes? I mean, as long as the story is narrating the same setting, it's a lot easier to blur your eyes to it. Same with flashbacks. The thing to keep in mind is to make the time transitions obvious. Lack thereof is where inconsistent tenses would be mentally confusing. Well I'd like to make sure everything is in the proper tense, but there will always be mistakes. As for flashbacks I don't think I've used many that can't be identified without much difficulty. Like Fusion did before me everything that's a flashback would be done in complete italics. Nathanael D. Striker
I heard that movie wasn't so good, but I haven't watched it. I did see Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty on New Years Eve. A nice way to spend the evening.
Jake the Sage
I heard that movie wasn't so good, but I haven't watched it. I did see Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty on New Years Eve. Well it was basically the most famous Japanese story ever told, just with a bit of fantasy added in and a love plot. To be honest I didn't realize I had already heard this story until they explained that the 47 ronin had to wait a year before they were able to exact their revenge. At that point I basically slapped myself and went, "Wow I know this story already!" I also watched "The Legend of Hercules" in 3D last night with my cousin for her birthday. To be honest the more I think about it the less I like the movie. If they wanted to give Hercules a heroic love story then they might as well done Oedipus and be done with it. If you're going to do Hercules and have it adult-oriented then why not do the actual tragic story of Hercules?
Nathanael D. Striker
I looked at some reviews of Hercules, and similar points were brought up. I mean, it could have been a bit accurate historically. And no, I haven't watched that movie either. I've also seen Saving Mr. Banks. Honestly, Tom Hanks makes that movie. If only I still had Mary Poppins. XD
Jake the Sage
BUMP Saw 'American Hustle' today and I have to say that was definitely better than 'Legend of Hercules'.
Thar
I went to see Catching Fire on Monday after realizing we had a holiday. I basically drove 20 miles only to turn right back around, and on the way back I decided to drop by the theater. I was expecting the Hobbit to have more than one playtime, but I only found CF to be the soonest one that caught my interest... and by soon, I meant an hour and a half, which I misread as a half hour and ended up sitting in the theater for the former. I intend to see Desolation of Smaug as soon as I can catch a break and save $20.
Jake the Sage
Personally Thar if I were you I'd wait until it was out in Redbox before seeing it. It really doesn't have that much going for it until smaug comes in at the 2/3 mark.
The Warden
The last movie I saw was Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. It had the charm of the first movie, but nowhere near enough of the intelligence. The movie didn't NEED a bad guy, or, at least one who was downright through and through evil. I was offered to go see Anchorman 2, but I turned it down; since I knew it was going to be terrible; and not even my love of crap was going to let me enjoy it. Nathanael D. Striker
I think the Anchorman/Dodge commercials were a bit excessive. Anyone else agree on that?

Striker everything Will Ferrel does is over the top. In fact the ONLY person who is more over the top happens to be Nicolas Cage (>>)

Desu the Blue Nerd
It's odd that it seems like literally everything in this club is something I don't care about or just don't agree with. I love Anchorman 2 and a lot of Will Ferrel movies. :I I'm not going to try to defend Steve Carrel though.
