Okay, for one, you didn't use the device, hence you decided to rescue her under your own power, which is impossible.

 

This anomaly presented before you is of my own design, I call it Desperate Space. It's similar to a black hole, but not completely alike. Indeed, it can absorb matter, but direct contact usually is required. See, the major aspect of DS is that it absorbs energy. Any kind, any form basically. It's impossible to teleport out of the anomaly because as soon as you generate the energy around you to do it, the DS would've absorbed it. Same with the portal system, because, with portals, you generate the first one, but you need to send the energy to the final destination to open the second one to finish the link. The destination being inside the anomaly, it would've absorbed the energy you would've used to make it. It's pretty amusing when you think about it, since you can't negate it either, as again, it'll absorb the energy before the effects of the attempt hit it. That's why.

 

Also, because Deus ex Machinas generate plot holes; very big ones too.

The major flaw in that logic is simple: if it absorbs energy, like to make portals, how the hell does your device make a portal in the first place?

 

If I can't open a portal then why can your device? What is the difference between me using my energy to open a portal and the device? Both, I have to assume since you don't explain how the DS works, are using energy to create a portal. But since both are using energy to create a portal then wouldn't the dimension absorb both mine and your devices energy thus making it impossible to access the dimension in the first place?

 

So, again, why does your device open a portal?

If he were to create a portal to a place that is known to randomly spawn DS's, the DS would presumably munch its way back to wherever the portal ends at, right?

There was no device Jake, it was a box with a bow, universally known to be able to carry anything. Law of narrative convention. Also, I didn't use a portal to go there, I made it. Compliments to you, of course.

 

No, it just grows slowly. Right now, it's feasting on Lora's energy, mostly heat. And also some minor kinetic energy from airflow. Not enough to properly feed it. Also, time reversal won't work, since the energy will be absorbed in a small area around the DS, displacing the anomaly out of time. And should you deal with it in the past, which is impossible as having the knowledge to defeat it early before the big reveal means no reveal happened, forcing a mobius loop of you going back and breaking, and then winding back in the start because you can't break it early. You can only go back after my speech, but by then it is clearly too late. All you can do is delay the inevitible from your perception.

 

Though, if you send the anomaly out of time, I should add, is pretty bad. It would be insanely difficult to locate something displaced from time.

Remo your time reversal thing wouldn't really solve the issue. If it literally reverses time, then the same events will occur, causing an endless loop.
