Starhawk

Huzzah, the game is finally out!

I've been counting done the days in excitement, just itching to get my hands on this game.

However...

Last night, I was on Machinina, derping around when suddenly, a review for Starhawk was posted. Reviewed by Billy Shibley, it was over all given a partly negative review, ending up with a 6.0/10.

This was nerve wracking for me. Not only had I preordered the game, but I was also pretty sure it was too late to cancel my preorder. So, I held my breath and hoped for the best.

And now, I am happy to report that the game is just as awesome as I imagined it would be! Satisfying gameplay, fun and interesting mechanics, and fast paced action make this game a blast for me to play. Turns out, so far, Machinima is the only reviewing source that gave this game a 6.0. Everywhere else has been 7.5 or higher as of now.

Anyway, if you play this PS3 exclusive, tell me what you think. And if you're iffy about it, give it a go, at least.

...But the Cluster Bomb is broke as all hell. xD First online match, went 29 - 3. 20 of those kills were with the Cluster Bomb.

The lack of multiplayer modes is the main problem people are having. As well as people not liking the on-foot gunplay, but that's what Starhawk is, so they're probably comparing it to something else. Also, the offline parts of the game is just dull.

I'm sketchy about IGN. I mean, EVERYONE else gave it far lower scores, however fun the game might be.

Sony maaaaaybe lining IGN's pockets. JUST SAYIN'

Still. Game's a blast.

And it has this awesome feature for us called the MP Homeworld, where we get our own maps to just screw around in. Discuss tactics, practice our skills, wait for other party members to finally show, the works.

There are 2. One for the Rifters and one for the Outcast. Except, since I preordered, we get a THIRD one for Rifters.

In short, they are all AWESOME.

i like how is more of a "rts" you can set there strategey and teamwork to out play your opponent

this game is like leauge of legends in that sense

like me for example when im in tdm i use my jetpack / buildpoints to set up boobie traps

and the bait run gag (i allow my self get spotted using my jet pack of course to help aid my escape i lead em into my team's ambush spot)

not even the best players can defeat 2-4 people at the same time

my point is is not just a run of a mill shooter (cod if any one cares)

Not run of the mill at all.

I should start using different tactics, though. As effective as Cluster Bomb strafe runs are, they piss everyone off and are broke as hell. Plus, it gets old. Maybe I should try roadkilling EVERYONE.

...Or do what I did in the beta. Stick Proximity Mines to the front of my vehicle and do suicide runs. xD

the tdm where 2 3 people using hawks the map we was using had high tower things so using a jet pack i set a gun up there they change their mind about flying around and shooting lol
then i became me setting them and stopping them from taking them down to prevent their total field dominance

It only really takes one Hawk to have total dominance over the map, unless everyone is crazy good with M.A.W.'s. With the combined firepower of all powerups on the map, a single Hawk can cripple the enemy base, leaving it defenseless. This is why your team always needs at LEAST one Hawk to help balance out the air powers. But they have to be good pilots as well.

The last game I played, it was me in a Hawk v.s. 4 enemy Hawks. Since my team was useless, barely going for the enemy flag, I had to hold off them AND the enemy base. And I succeeded. The game ended with a draw.

I went 28-4 and was only shot down twice, once by accident when I transformed to Mech mode in range of a Beam Turret lol.

Also, some interesting things.

Starhawk DLC will be free. All of it. ALL OF IT! =D

And they said Billy Shibley will get an arrow to the face for the 6.0 rating.

Also, DLC 1 sneak peak image.

Most of the people I keep playing against suck. I mean, I played against this one group (people kept dropping in and out, so it wasn't always the same) who was doing Deathmatch, which is basically a Free for all Dogfight mode.

For both games I played before leaving, I went 10-0.

FLAWLESS? TWICE!?

But I got a neat Trophy for it. A silver one. :3

So, today, it became apparent that I jumped from Silver Grade to Platinum Grade, and as a result, almost every match in the server list has the Threat Level of "Piece of Cake".

Bumpbumpbump!

The Union Tug Albatross interests me greatly. I'd like to know more about how that works.

I've been trying to determine what my play style is. I narrowed it down to about 3. Might as well share them.

1. Hit and Run.

I tend to love to rush in, destroy, rush out, and repair my vehicle. I think it's best with the Hawk or Razorback. In Zones, take out the destroy part, and replace with capture.

2. Siege.

With a Hawk or Ox Tank4, I'll hang out nearby, constantly destroying enemy structures as soon as they lay them down and killing players as soon as they spawn. Many a rage quit is had, but it is VERY effective. In the Hawk, best done with a combination of Cluster Bomb for base destruction and enemy killing, Cloak for clean getaways, and Flak for anti-Hawk. Shield is also a nice addition, but not strictly necessary.

3. Base Defense.

Pretty basic. Grab a Supply Bunker, throw down some turrets, and hunker down. Defending the flag, keeping enemies from spawn camping, or defending a zone is what this is best used for. Use the accumulated Rift Energy to keep your base fortified.

In other words, bump.

Naw, we don't really need more. It was just a fun little thing.

What Skill do you use?

I use Weapon Mods, though I'll probably switch out soon.

There are a few skills I really hate, though. For example, the one that has the knife damage a vehicle.

I mean, really? 2 knife strikes and you kill my TANK? BS, man.

Another one would be the one that lets you gather Rift Energy faster. That's annoying when fighting against Defenders in TDM.

i use the one that allow it user to temporary become chuck norris and kill all enemies / just automacilly wins

just kidding

i use the one that allow it user to gather rift any where on the field (on your team base off your team base on your enemy team base off your enemy team base when redeploying etc)

note this one does not give quick rift like the other skill but this skill come handy when you the kind of guy who off your team base often
