Making "Battleguards" an Archetype

ITT: I will be expanding the "Battleguard" ("Barbarian" in the OCG) Series into an Archetype. I have a number of ideas already, but some of these may stay blank until I can think of a suitable effect for them.

Just like the original two, the this Archetype focuses on effects that are applied when other Battleguards are present.

EDIT: Hmmm... I may need a bit of help with this, so if anyone's willing to give good advice, that'd be appreciated.


[b]~ Citadel Battleguard[/b]

DARK/Level 5/Warrior/1800 ATK/1300 DEF

[b]You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by banishing 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard. During your Main Phase, while you control another "Battleguard" monster with a different name: you can target 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field; return that card to its owner's hand. The targeted card cannot be activated as part of a Chain. The effect of "Citadel Battleguard" can only be activated once per turn.[/b]


[b]~ Clockpunk Battleguard[/b]

EARTH/Level 4/Warrior/1600 ATK/1200 DEF

[b]While you control another "Battleguard" monster with a different name: when a "Battleguard" monster you control attacks; your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step.[/b]


[b]~ Dojo Battleguard[/b]

DARK/Level 5/Warrior/2000 ATK/1700 DEF

[b]If you do not control a face-up "Dojo Battleguard"; You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) while you control 2 or more "Battleguard" monsters with different names. Once per turn, when a Spell or Trap Card is activated: you can Tribute 1 "Battleguard" monster you control; negate the activation and effect of the Spell or Trap Card and destroy it.[/b]


[b]~ Tailored Battleguard[/b]

EARTH/Level 4/Warrior/1400 ATK/1800 DEF

[b]Once per turn, when an Equip Card equipped to this monster is sent to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower "Battleguard" monster from your Deck or Graveyard. Once per turn, you can discard 1 card from your hand to select and activate 1 of the following effects: @ Add 1 Equip Spell Card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. @ Target 1 Equip Card on the field; Equip the target to this monster.[/b]


[b]~ Highland Battleguard[/b]

LIGHT/Level 5/Warrior/1500 ATK/1300 DEF

[b]If your opponent controls 2 or more monsters; you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card is Special Summoned by this effect; return all other monsters you control to the Deck, then your opponent returns monsters they control to the Deck until they control only 1 monster. This card gains 400 ATK for each monster returned to the Deck this way.[/b]


[b]~ Mountain Battleguard[/b]

EARTH/Level 4/Warrior/1500 ATK/1500 DEF

[b]While you control another "Battleguard" monster with a different name; All "Battleguard" monsters you control gain 200 ATK for each "Battleguard" monster on the field.[/b]


[b]~ Legacy Battleguard[/b]

DARK/Level 4/Warrior/1650 ATK/1050 DEF

[b]This card gains 200 ATK for each "Battleguard" monster in your Graveyard. If this card is sent from the field to your Graveyard: you can banish this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 6 or lower "Battleguard" monster from your Graveyard, except "Legacy Battleguard".[/b]


[b]~ Colosseum Battleguard[/b]

EARTH/Level 6/Warrior/2200 ATK/2100 DEF

[b]During the end of the Battle Phase in which this monster you control battled; You can Special Summon 1 Level 6 or lower "Battleguard" from your hand or Graveyard, except "Colosseum Battleguard". The effect of "Colosseum Battleguard" can only be activated once per turn.[/b]


[b]~ Galactic Battleguard[/b]

DARK/Rank 5/Warrior/2500 ATK/2500 DEF

[b]2 Level 5 monsters[/b]
[b]While this card has at least 1 Xyz Material attached; This card cannot be removed from the field by a card effect. When this card ([i]attacks?/battles?[/i]) an opponent's monster: You can detach 1 Xyz material from this card; destroy that opposing monster and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's ATK or DEF, whichever is higher, -500.[/b]


~ Olympian Battleguard

LIGHT/Level 8/Warrior/2800 ATK/2300 DEF

([i]Boss Mon SS Condition. Can still be Normal Summoned or Set[/i])


[b]~ Kanabo of Barbarian Soul[/b]

Spell/Equip

[b]Equip only to a "Battleguard" monster you control. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK. The effect(s) of a monster destroyed by the equipped monster are negated during the turn it was destroyed. When this card is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect; Add 1 "Battleguard" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. (OCG Check?)[/b]


[b]~ Barbarian Shield[/b]

Spell/Equip

[b]Equip only to a "Battleguard" monster you control. The equipped monster gains 700 DEF and can attack while in Defense Position. When a "Battleguard" monster you control is targeted for an attack while you control 2 or more "Battleguard" monsters: You can send this card to the Graveyard; Negate the attack, and destroy the attacking monster.[/b]


[b]~ Barbarian Village - Shrine of the Warriors[/b]

Spell/Field

[b]All "Battleguard" monsters you control are treated as Level 5 monsters and gain 300 ATK. Once per turn, if you control no monsters: You can discard 1 monster from your hand; Special Summon 1 Level 6 or lower "Battleguard" monster from your hand or Graveyard.[/b]

Highland Battleguard seems interesting. Mostly due to the fact one could tech it outside of a Battleguard deck, considering its a weird Black Rose.

Also, Tailored Battleguard seems a little out of place among this archetype, unless you plan to make an Equip or two.

[b]TBH, Tailored Battleguard was sorta meant as a counter/parody to Inzektors, in that its primary effect is similar to Dragonfly's, while the second effect for its discard cost could be used to steal your opponent's Equipped Gigamantis/Hornet. Weird, I know, but now that you've mentioned it, I may make a few Equip Spells for the Battleguards. [/b]

Ahh, so that would explain Tailored.
Still, you might want to include at least 1 or 2 Equips, so it doesn't seem so random.
I mean even that Nordic Alfar guy, Dverg, recovers Nordic Relics, and hes the only Nordic monster who does so, just so it justifies Nordics being part of the Relics even more.
