Many Many Members from Deviantart.com came over to this site and spammed and flamed us all' date=' for using their images without permission or crediting

Its now calm and a new rule was introduced to solve the problem.

[/quote']

oh gosh, whats the rule?

permission must be granted for use of deviantart photos, or no photos of anyh kind from deviantart can be used?

Well

Whenever you post a card' date=' you have to add a disclaimer to your thread telling whoever reads it that you do not own the image (if you dont)

and

you have to credit the artist and provide a link to the artwork.

[/quote']

oh ok, makes since.

anything else i missed?

if so just pm me =/

Personally i feel the Awards have had there day' date=' each month theres less voters, and this month is just a bombshell.

[/quote']

Agreed, they really died. When this stuff started, it was due to an increase in active members (when it was more than just Frunk, Dan, HORUS, Soul Immortal, RsCrash, Happybunny, Star Trainer, Chaoserver, Gist, MikeGallo, TO, Max, Tkill, Slime, Ka Flame, MadDog, God Kaze, Zaloog91, Quagmire Jr (who I admittedly ripped), Koloth, Bhim, Wolf, OldMaster, Cyberdude, Elsandero, Wicket, Falling Pizza, NP Sage, Sartorius, GOGGLER!, and the trade forum still existed.

As time progressed, people like God Gak, CD, SD, Flame Dragon, Derek Whaley, Azuh (who apparently I never noticed until later), Rahim, Serrenox, Newcas, Basher, STL, DAJ, Chaos Remix, Yankee, HIMISGWAH..., Georgeyboy, Orochi, TGL, Azw, Azm, and by that time, we felt it nescissary to have these awards, we needed this to give us something to do after the whole Sartoruis/Chaoserver/Gist issue (I will admit that after all that, anything that wasn't short of what was perhaps the largest war in the history of this site/NP Sage getting angry at the Old abortion thread, was not much for entertainment). The awards came to be, and they were something for us to actually look forward to, we had little topics of interest, and there were little more than 5 people who knew how to play yugioh at any rate. After months, members left, were banned, and new ones replaced them, Darkthorne, Bloodrun, DJ, and Chaos Pudding most significantly, and the awards went fine with DJ and his internet obsession causing him to.. well.. we know the story. They had been declining since October, and the small boost in January due to little more than DJ joining the forums did nothing to help it.

At the same time, our council was failing. The voting system Frunk put in was absolutely atrocious. Sure, fair, but being well liked does not mean that one will be successful, and for that, the original council, short myself Ty and Frunk was a blunder. (Johanderson????? Lulz)

So is the change in the council to blame, the lack of hype for the awards, the loss of voting members, or perhaps was it due to a progression of events in a linear fashion (time) that have caused people to start posting little outside of the sections that they like to post, and the general section has become where these communities merge. I could not vote best RP, because I don't RP nor have i visited that forum more than 10 times since I joined.

In other words, how do we fix this?

Should the council be fixed (it is evident that we need to be more organized)?

Should the Awards be hyped more?

Do we need a more organized host?

Can we do nothing about it, because it is due to the voters changing?

At any rate, think about how many of the original members even use the forums anymore. Think about how much has changed, what we lost, what we gained, what the time we spent here is even worth.

I will however, promise that the awards will be fixed, as right now, they are fitted to the old generation of YCMers, and now need to be fitted to the newer group of users.

Basically (nice speech btw) i think they need to be revamped.

As the awards are general based, we really should go the whole hog and go so indepth that we have alot of choice and catagorys in the end of it.

Such as split Graphics down into different things like;

Best Avatar maker

Best Holo'er

Best banner maker

Best Tutorial maker

etc.etc.

And go indepth into the TCG section and say

Most Knowledgable TCG member

Also maybe the active member could be split per section so;

Most active member in Custom cards.

Most active member in Fan-Fic

Most active member in graphics

etc.etc.

Altho it means more work, it may attract more attension, as the newer unpopular members dont bother with these awards, as they feel they have no chance of winning against the well known people on this site.

I think we can rewrite the awards. I have an Idea.

i reckon they need more hype... it seems that they are not targetting the current audience of people. When Frunk was around, he at least had it in his sig to tell people to vote. Unless we do some changes... i suggest that:

Make a nomination form in each forum... (not everyone) and put things in that catergory that represent that area such as

REALISTIC CARD AWARDS (placed in Realistic Cards)

1. Best Card Maker

2. Best w/e

GRAPHICS AWARDS (placed in Showcase)

1. Best Artist etc

FAN FIC AWARDS (placed in Fan-Fic)

etc

then they all join up into this thread after a certain amount of days, so people vote here... not NOMINATE

so... this thread will became a voting place only

if you catch my drift >.>.. sorry im in a bit of a rush to explain it fully
