Darth Revan of the Sith
Funimation is like one of my favorite dubbers right now. If they don't do it, well i'll be pissed but I just hope whoever DOES get it does it well.

Shradow
If FUNi could get Dan Green, visible guns, and bodily functions, then Yu-Gi-Oh! would become the greatest anime ever.

Shradow
I know that FUNi can do a better job than 4kids. I (unfortunately) watched the entire 4kids dub of One Piece when I was younger (when it was newly dubbed) all the way up to the Lamis Arc where 4kids stopped dubbing. Later when FUNi started dubbing it I knew it was way better.
Astro Dude
Do you even know how many episodes of the entire yu-gi-oh series there are? Do you know how much time it'll take for Funimation to re-dub ALL those episodes?
They focus their time on Zexal, and, on the side, re-dub the more important arcs of the original series first. Then go to the rest of the storylines, and jump to GX. If it takes a year or two, I believe we would be willing to wait, assuming that it's good. (It's FUNi, I don't think they wouldn't do an excellent job.) Oh, and Dan Green ftw. I really can't see anybody else doing Yami's voice.
Phantom Roxas
Or alternatively, they dub the series in order while doing Zexal and then release DVDs/BRDs over time. Sure, it would take a long time to get through the whole series, and chances are it would take them at least five years just to get through DM, but they could get things started by airing Zexal on their website.
The anime started in 1999, 4kids dubbed it in 2004, 8 years. Yu-gi-oh has four series, started in 1996, started dubbing in 2000, That would be about 12 years and +600 episodes to dub. Can you imagine how tired the VA's would be if they worked on this non-stop?
I really wanna see GX season 4 dubbed. Phantom Roxas
The anime started in 1999, 4kids dubbed it in 2004, 8 years.
He was asking for Funimation specifically, not 4Kids. The series has been dubbed for eight years, three of which were done by 4Kids, while the other five are done by Funimation, which is exactly why I said it would take Funimation five years to get through DM.
Yu-gi-oh has four series, started in 1996, started dubbing in 2000, That would be about 12 years and +600 episodes to dub. Can you imagine how tired the VA's would be if they worked on this non-stop?
One Piece has over 500 episodes at this point. While I expect it to have as many episodes as all five Yu-Gi-Oh! series (Season 0 and DM are two separate series, even if they follow the same characters and storyline), the amount of episodes shouldn't be daunting. Since One Piece has taken five years to get through at least two hundred episodes, getting through Yu-Gi-Oh! could take at least fifteen years. Suggesting that they work nonstop is just being impatient, and professional voice acting is a difficult job to begin with, contrary to what Chris Rock believes. Let's go back to One Piece, shall we? The 4Kids dub began on September 18, 2004, and ended on September 22, 2007. Using the first 143 episodes, 4Kids released 104 episodes. Naturally, the skipped episodes, but I think they also combined episodes sometimes. As such, 4Kids released 104 episodes of One Piece over the span of three years and fourdays. Funimation continued where 4Kids left off, releasing their dub a week afterwards, before it stopped airing on Cartoon Network on March 8, 2008. However, Funimation started releasing DVDs of the dub on May 27 of the same year, and a set containing episode 143 was released May 11, 2010. This means that it took them almost two years to get to the same episode that 4Kids ended on. Considering how much of the series was changed or outright cut by 4Kids, that also meant that Funimation had to deal with more material. This actually suggests a faster dubbing time than 4Kids. Season Four Second Voyage should have at least seven episodes on it, and will probably be released in either October or November. This would mean that they would have released at least 224 episodes of One Piece over the span of four years and five-six months. The DM's dub didn't air until September 2001, and ended in June of 2006, resulting in a dubbing span of four years and nine months. This means that 4Kids took at least three more months to dub Yu-Gi-Oh! than Funimation did to dub One Piece. So yes, we'll have to wait a long time before Funimation gets through every series, but I think it's important to understand that they would still be faster than 4Kids, plus they would actually finish GX and 5D's.
That would require calling in huge favors. They probably would have to.
4Kids is located in New York while Funimation is in Texas. Once 4Kids loses the properties, who knows what will happen to the voice actors? I was fun with most of the voices for the GX dub, and it was just the direction that was the problem, but remember that 4Kids reuses their voice actors constantly in the same shows (Seriously, how many characters are voiced by Marc Thompson?), and while I have to admit they manage to at least change their deliveries, I'm not sure if Funimation does that as much. It would be great if they bring back the original voice actors, such as Dan Green as Yugi.
Astro Dude
Well for Slayers Revolution they brought back the original dub cast so I don't see why not. But I think Laura Bailey will have to be Tea Gardner.

Shradow
What would Joey sound like? FUNimation might not give him that stupid Brooklyn accent that 4kids gave him for no apparent reason. Heck, 4kids gives quite a few characters stupid random accents. Examples are Sanji in One Piece and Meta Knight in Kirby of the Stars.

Dubbing companies don't "own" their VAs, at least so far as I can tell, so in that respect there's no reason Funimation can't bring back the original cast. Solely from a business standpoint, the original cast would move more DVDs - there would be lots of fan-bitching about a new cast, and DAN GREEN, despite having very few major roles, has a lot of love due to the fact that he's DAN GREEN. But as was said, Funimation and 4Kids are on opposite ends of the country, and there could be any number of other issues. Besides, Vic Migderpaderp would be an awesome Yugi. Astro Dude
Awesome. But I prefer Dan Green to still be Yugi and Atem, along with Trudge, and it would be cool if he were Nightshroud and Gauche.
Shradow
If FUNimation did get Yu-Gi-Oh! I'd love if they kept Dan Green. If I had to choose one of FUNi's actors, though, I'd think Travis Willingham could pull it off.

Phantom Roxas
If you've watched Fullmetal Alchemist, Travis Willingham is Roy Mustang, and I think he could pull of Yami very well. However, I haven't heard enough roles from him to see if he can voice Yugi.

Shradow
No, Atem. Could you imagine Roy Mustang being normal Yugi? lol Some other voices he's done are Ace in One Piece, Mori in Ouran High School Host Club, and he's the most recent voice of Knuckles the Echidna. EDIT: Oh wait, Dan Green voiced both Atem and normal Yugi? Huh.
Phantom Roxas
Yes, I meant little Yugi, which is why I said Yami and Yugi to refer to them differently. Atem and Yugi were also voiced by the same person in Japanese, so I think what they need to do is get someone who can do both voices.
