Rapidfire
You should do a unexpected genera. Something like country, or classical ( I don't listen to this stuff, but I think it would be a good idea to do something unexpected). Most of the time it is one genera or something similar. So do something different. ://
John A. Zoidberg
For now, I'm figuring out a contributor's thing. If you wanna help write, I'll probably get an app thing up in the opening post for being a writer. Won't be too long-winded.
Well, I would love to help with maybe showing off and reviewing some lesser popular bands and genres, since I know of a ton of great bands that go virtually unnoticed around here. I mean, if I were to contribute, it would probably be that.
Tentacruel
I guess you have an album in the queue already, but Protogenoi, check this album out if you get the chance. Pretty mainstream, but good nonetheless. Tentacruel
As much as I agree with that sentiment, reviewing Classical Music isn't exactly easy. John A. Zoidberg
As much as I agree with that sentiment, reviewing Classical Music isn't exactly easy. One might even say it requires the reviewer to be very musically knowledgeable.
This is exactly true. I wouldn't trust somebody to review Bach or Beethoven unless they have some sort of music-related degree; the idea of a simple fan reviewing famous pieces by historically brilliant artists is just sad. The pieces are too complex to really be reviewed by someone without the proper knowledge of composition or at least music theory. A fan review would probably be something along the lines of, "Well, it sounds pretty nice, and it kept my attention. 9/10!" whereas someone with real knowledge of music could delve deeper into the piece and actually review it for the masterpiece that it is. .Rai
My classical training only extends to being classically trained on a piano, and being able to play the guitar and the violin. Reviewing classical masterpieces just seems wrong. Mainly because not many people have massive amounts of skill in these areas. It's one thing to know terminology, but it's another to be able to analyse entire symphony movements. I'm personally going to leave classic reviews, in fear of generally ruining the pieces, but if anyone of considerable knowledge has a desire to do so, feel free. L0SS
Johnny Cash - Hurt. Such a deep and edgy song, and from such a great musician. I don't normally like folk/country stuff, but this is just gold. RIP Johnny.

Nine inch nails version is good too, but Johnny Cash just has this rich, dark voice. It's like runny treacle. Their is more emotion in his cover imo. John A. Zoidberg
Reznor's version just sounds so eerie and bitter. It almost sounds like a suicide note to the world over how much regret he has for everything. ...then again, it's also kind of about heroin. :/ Also, Rai, have you thought about my idea for contribution at all? John A. Zoidberg
Preferred Name: I guess my real name, Daniel, would be more appropriate for reviewing music that Zoidberg. Genres you prefer to review: Um. A lot of stuff. I guess the genres I'd be most interested in reviewing would be Hardcore Punk (i.e. Black Flag), unbastardized emo and screamo (as in if someone requests modern bands like Hawthorne Heights or Asking Alexandria or something, I'll probably laugh then say no because that's, well, not true to the genre), and I guess I can do some Prog. Rock (i.e. Tool) as well. I'm open to any genre though. Just don't send requests like, "Oh, do Nickelback!" or, "Oh, do Lil Wayne!" I will do Hip-Hop, though. Better artists like MF Doom. How often do you want to put out reviews?: Whenever I can. Reviewing stuff is fun. I could probably do bi-weekly reviews, I guess. Though if I need to skip on one every once and awhile, I'd hope that that's alright.
