No sweat, I had work up until 11 pmish yesterday.

EDIT: I also see everyone is starting right away with their NPC battles. I'm thinking now that it might be best if we do one of the following.
1) Establish who will control the NPC for that duel. (via PMing that person or this thread)
2) Control the NPC you're battling yourself.

I say this because I will not be able to keep up with ALL the different decks and what-have-you for every battle that's going on at the same time.

In case no one saw this before. But basically, what I meant was, Do either which way you want. I won't consider it cheating or anything, just which ever way makes it easier for any of you.

I have a question. What happens when a Number Hunter or someone obsessed with Numbers takes their opponents' Number and really hurts them, but their opponent still has Heart Pieces left? There didn't seem to be any rules against this in the anime, but I wonder how Kaito got away with it, since all his opponents had their souls removed.

I think the winner would probably 'cheat' and take more Heart Pieces than they originally anted for. That or other people would 'scavenge' any remaining Heart Pieces remaining.

I suggest when a serious character vs character duel starts, we get the two people to pm each other to make an agreement for the outcome of the duel to plan it ahead to find a reasonable result.

Well, in Zexal's case, Mr. Heartland is explicitly aware of Kaito capturing souls and convinces him that it's a necessary evil. Considering Kaito via Orbital has the ability to freeze time and/or approaches his opponents in isolated areas, it's very likely no one who doesn't already know Kaito suspects him.

Plus, Droite and Gauche probably did some stuff to hide the evidence if there was an issue, since they investigated other attacks on participants.

In the majority of cases in other series, the issue is glossed over. I imagine a number of villainous characters tended to steal ALL their assets, not just one, effectively removing the defeated character from the equation. Usually villains have their underlings do all the "go around and duel average people" work, such as Marik's Rare Hunters collecting rare cards and Locator cards, and while III and IV probably did a lot of dueling, V and Tron did not, yet they all had enough Heart Pieces. IV tended to duel his fans, anyway, so he had no shortage of easy people to take Heart Pieces from.

The goal of the WDC was to gather all the Numbers in one place, with the expectation that Kaito would win them (in the anime, anyway). If other Numbers users claimed Numbers, it'd just shorten the number of people who needed to be beaten. So yeah, my bet is Mr. Heartland would overall dismiss the problems and/or assign other people to watch over the situation.

Besides, what is the character going to do about it? They lost the duel, so they legitimately lost a Heart Piece, and claiming their opponent assaulted and robbed them of a rare card just brings up too many questions. Is it a lie, to get revenge on the player who won? Can they prove their card was stolen, since for all anyone else knows, the winning duelist always had it, and the reason the loser knew of it is maybe the other player USED it, so they now want to steal the card and sabotage their tournament entry.

@MI: At the moment it might be, but it's nothing a little refinement can't fix.

@Kohaku: Wouldn't work at this stage. And I don't plan for it to ever work ;)

...

Then again, if that's the only thing that's making it OP'ed I might have to. I doubt it though, there must be something else about it that's tipping the scales. I suppose I'll find out if someone ninjas me.

EDIT: Maybe if I change it so the sacrificing is forced at the end of whatever Phase its actually on. That way, Rai can use a monster destruction spell on Main Phase 1, Summon something, go into the Battle Phase (which means Aivea has to sac Gebab for one of the two Monsters), kill it and then MST Resilience.

That Hieratic card is broken as hell.

-It prevents Hieratics from dying in battle or card effects, and in exchange, you must Tribute the Hieratic during the End Phase. Oh no...what a tragic cost...oh wait, THAT'S WHAT THE DECK WANTS TO DO!

-It itself negates being destroyed.

This is almost comparable to Lightsworn having a card that says "Whenever a LS would be destroyed, mill 2 cards instead". Except LS might actually Deck out through this strategy, but even so, it helps the theme, rather than present a drawback to something otherwise way too good. And considering Hieratics are an OTK Deck...that's just not fair.

I plan for Greg to acquire this Number at some point:

2 Level 7 monsters
Once per turn, you may detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; change the Attribute of 1 monster you control. Then, depending on the Attribute, activate 1 of these effects:
●FIRE: Destroy 1 Spell or Trap card your opponent controls.
●WATER: Gain Life Points equal to the ATK of the monster affected by this effect.
●WIND: Once per turn, when the monster affected by this effect would be destroyed by Battle, it is not destroyed.
●EARTH: You take no Battle Damage this turn.
●LIGHT: Look at your opponent's hand.
●DARK: Shuffle your opponent's deck.

I like him, but it should target monsters EXCEPT itself. If not, it's just "detach 1 Xyz Material to Destroy 1 Spell or Trap card your opponent controls. Gain 2600 Life Points .Once per turn, this card is not destroyed by battle. You take no Battle Damage this turn. Agreed. Although 89 technically exists, it's still a good card. I'm SO having Akuma flog that >:{)

Anyway, I've changed Hieratic Seal of Resilience around so it affects all monsters on the field (not that it'll help anything not named a Hieratic) and they'll have to be sacced at the end of Main Phases 1 and 2 (so you can still get rid of the summoned monster as well as the Hieratic itself). I also dropped the negation effect since it was admittedly unnecessary, but I still have its capability to punish people for destroying it while the controller (in this Aivea) has a Hieratic... via burning a variable chunk of Life Points. So yeah, it's been toned down quite a bit. I just hope that's enough to stop it from being broken =/

EDIT: On second thought, I might half the burn damage it actually does as well. The strongest Hieratic out there is Heliopolis, which stands at 2400DEF, but even then, that is still too much burn damage for a card that potent in general. Halving that, however, reduces the maximum damage the card can do to 1200, which is much easier to handle.
