This is currently airing on DisneyXD as of April 1, 2012. The show starts with Spider-Man doing his thing one year after getting his powers. Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D, approaches him and offers to train him so he can be a better super hero and become the Ultimate Spider-Man.
I hope this fares better than Spectacular Spider-Man did. It's certainly entertaining, the action's pretty good (not as good as Spectacular though) and it's got a pretty solid sense of humor. It feels very reminiscent of shows like Teen Titans, Family Guy and even Saved by the Bell in the way it handles its gags and one-liners.
Some might complain it's too cartoony and that this isn't the same Spider-Man we're used to, but I'm a pretty big Spidey fan and I'm definitely going to follow this week by week. My only complaint would be the occasional campy moments, but they didn't detract too much from the overall experience.
What do you guys think of the new Spidey?

Spiderman's always been kind of campy with a humorous undertone, imo. It certainly has its serious moments, but Parker does love to crack his one liners.

So does this have any relation to the Marvel's Ultimate universe?

I haven't seen the show, but I am currently working through the 90's Spiderman on netflix :P

In some ways yes, others no.
Spider-Man was supervised by SHIELD in the comics, but wasn't directly trained until some of the last issues and that was quickly overshadowed by the bigger predicament that shortly followed.
And he's had his team-ups, but he never worked on a team like how he's apparently doing in the show.
Some of the character designs are different from the comics as well, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

Basically, the show's focusing a lot more on his interaction with SHIELD than it did in the comics.

Didn't Cartoon Network already come up with the character White Tiger, and wasn't it male?
Actually, White Tiger was an original Marvel comic in the 1970s and was one of the first Hispanic superheroes named Hector Ayala. His run eventually ended and he became a side character in the Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man comics until he ended his career and went on to teaching homeless people how to read/write and stuff as he traveled.

Have no idea why they made him a girl here though.

If anything, Punisher and Daredevil will probably appear together since Spider-Man met both of them at the same time in the Ultimate Universe.

You're kidding yourself, man.

Paste Pot Pete is the villain because:
a. He sucks. Spidey needs to show his skills before Doc Ock or someone else comes in and kicks the crap out of him
b. It lets us know the show'll be drawing from the resource material to use even the most obscure villains like Petey

I'm trying to be open-minded about this new series, but I prefer The Spectacular Spider-man animated series! I feel that they shouldn't have brought in the other superheroes so soon. I was hoping to see more of teenage Peter Parker balancing superhero business and school life(like the comics). But I appreciate Marvel for trying to make this series different from mainstream. The whole concept of Venom was interesting, imo!

I've only watched the first couple episodes and I'm not that big a fan of it. I think they are showing Spiderman as to incompetent and making to many jokes. As said by TC, it has a Family Guy feel at times, and while it works for them it doesn't work here. Still, its only the first two eps so it might get better.

Also part of this also might be me missing Spectacular Spider-Man and thinking just how AMAZING that was. Just finished the 2nd season and I'm just like, I left with THIS now?!?!?!
