Grith walked up towards the tower, which was at least three floors higher than every other building, and wiped his forehead. After taking a week to arrive, he hoped that Ristavan would be slightly welcoming. He sighed, as he knew Ristavan would be no less welcoming than he used too, and walked up to the door. Hesitating slightly, he knocked. About five minutes passed before he heard an annoyed muttering on the other side of the oaken door. "Hold yer horses, I'm coming. Damn kids bugging me all day long..." Grith recognized the rough voice of Ristavan, an old, grizzled wizard that had a heavy hand in Griths mentoring.

The door swung open, and Ristavan was there. "Who is-....Grith? Damn you knocking on my door at this hour." Ristavan made no move to invite him in, so Grith asked "Sir, may I enter?"

"Damn well you cant enter. My tower. Whaddya want Grith?"

"I need to know things. Things about....the Necromancers."

At that, Ristavan's facial expression changed vastly. His eyebrow shot up, and his face aquired a quizzical look. "Oh. Well then....git your ass in here. I have a slight suspicion I'll be seeing others soon enough. The Necromancers? Damn them. Get your ass in here I said!" Now there was no doubt that Grith was welcome. As he crossed the threshold, nostalgia washed over him. He remembered nights spent here as a small child. He remembered Ristavan disciplining him. He remembered leaving.

"Sit down, have a coffee. I'm not explaining more than once, and I have a hunch other old...aquaintences....will be wanting the same thing. So siddown...."

Grith sat, and waited for these mysterious aquaintences to arrive.

Riefel had just flown into town, she looked down and had remembered her rather agonizing past, Looking around made her shiver, The streets bustled with not so trust-worthy-looking people, and many others, She had looked around, many many buildings, quite a few towers too, but there was only 1 tower that caught her eye, A Tall Wizard's tower, The only one she could see in the city, She circled the tower and landed quite harshly, Unknowingly causing her to look 12 years old. She looked shyly inside and knocked on the door 4 times, then she said "Hello, Is this the house of Old Man Ristavan?" She walked in after saying that, She looked and saw 2 people, A very old Wizard, and a Black-Haired tough man...

"Hold up kid. I belive you're looking for me?" Ristavan growled. "You need to learn manners young lady. You walk in when I invite you. Not before. And yes, I'm Ristavan. And you will never call me "Old Man" again if you know what's good for you."

"You really dont want to make him mad....he gets rather scary. Even to me!" Grith said, laughing. "I'm Grith by the way. Who're you?" Grith didnt even notice the wings, although he did notice the shy expression on her face. "Hey, dont be shy! I'm big, but not mean. So many people get that impression, and tread like their on hot coals around me. Big and mean, they think."

"He's right. He may look tough, but he's a huge softie underneath that armor." Ristavan muttered.

Riefel Giggled at Ristavan's reaction and said "Eep! I'm sorry Ristavan!" Then Ristavan and Grith were speaking to her, Grith introduced herself and then had started assuming, mainly because she was wary, She then floated a slight bit and said "It is very nice to meet you Grith, I'm known as Riefel Ar'klien, and I was hoping you would shed some light... about those fools you call 'Necromancers'... " She carried her Bladed staff inside and sat down on a different chair, She often preferred tea over coffee. Unfortunately for her, She knew that it was going to take a while for others to come, so she decided to start up a conversation to pass the time "So... I'm guessing that there are gonna be more people asking about this topic?"

Traveling from the horizon of the rising moon, on foot, Xelta walked at the steady pace with a small bag hung over his shoulder, and appeared at the edge of the city. He no doubt felt like he didn't belong. Actually, he didn't belong. While everyone held normal clothing on their backs, he donned some of the clothing he inherited from his teacher, the Mage. Many of his other belongings were in his bag, and right now he wore the most expensive of his clothes, without realizing it of course. And equipping a sword at his side wasn't any better. Of course any spectators will know their place, it doesn't mean they would think highly of him.

Glancing around, he saw few people with apathetic faces, few with carefree smiles. It was only moments after he noticed the large tower that was under the ownership of the wizard known as Ristavan. Before continuing, Xelta took his bag and held it in front of him, opening it, and took out a small book of what appears to be a diary. Closing the bag and slinging it over his shoulder, he opened the book in his left hand, and read one of the last excerpts from the diary.
"My old and favorite student, Xelta, I hope you are doing well. Should my death come, I have left you some important information. But before you continue, you must go to the city, where a well known wizard by the name of Ristavan lives. He's an old colleague, and close friend of mine. While it may be true we have not kept in much contact after a couple of years ago, he'll know who I am."
After reading the excerpt, the page just goes on about the books and scrolls and other informative pages that the Mage left behind for Xelta; how to use them, what they are for, etc. Closing the book and sheathing it into a pocket inside his robes, he ventured onward to the tower where he will meet this famed wizard Ristavan.

Arriving at the tower, he casually walked up a few flights of stairs before seeing a door. Before knocking on the door, he peered around himself, seeing if anything was displeasing to see; seeing nothing wrong, he straightened out his clothing, He took out the diary that slept in his clothes, and stared at the cover. It bore the symbol that was exactly the same as the one on his sword; the symbol was a reminder of the mage. Looking back to the door, Xelta took several knocks.

Ashe walked through a city street. Everyone on the street gave him looks. He continued to walk until a tall tower came with his eyesight. Pulling a piece of paper out of the pouch hanging off his belt, he quickly read through it. It said "Go to the city and visit the wizard that lives in the tall tower." Ashe stuffed the paper back into his pouch. After walking a short distance he came to a flight of stairs. Ashe jogged up the stairs and stopped when he saw a figure standing in front of the tower. He was dress in expensive clothes and carried a sword at his side. Ashe looked down at his clothes. He wore a long sleeved shirt, simple tunic, and leggings. He sported two swords: one on his back attached by a small chain and a shorter sword hanging off his belt. He also had on some bracers and grieves. Walking up the last couple of stairs, he said "Looks like we're here to see the same person. You here to talk about Necromancers, too?"

Looking at the corner of his eye, Xelta glanced at the unknown being, and looked back to the door awaiting an open door. Since there was no answer yet, he felt it was appropriate to answer him with an unexpected series of question. "If I was a Necromancer, what would you do? What would Ristavan do? If you were a Necromancer, what would I do? Again, what would Ristavan do? Perhaps I seek the end to those who wish us Necromancers harm. Perhaps I seek the end of Necromancers."

Xelta turned to face his encounter, not realizing he was showing the diary. "I ask you, is it normal for someone to talk about such tedious things in public? Talking about such things out in the open is dangerous, you never know who or what can be listening. Oh well. I suppose we can risk the safety of the public, instead of talking about these things in private."

Despite his harshness, it does hold some sense. You can never tell who is eavesdropping on conversations. If someone were to know that they were talking about the Necromancers, and if said person was a Necromancer, it could lead to an unwanted confrontation. He turned to face the door again, and finally answered his question. "And yes. I am here to visit the wizard on such a matter. I will not talk of it until we are inside."

Ristavan grumbled and walked over to the door. "Get in here ya morons. Never had so many people at once. To save you weirdos the time, here are some short introductions." Ristavan closed his eyes a second before saying; "The big guy is Grith, dont worry. He doesnt bite. Freaky girl with the cool wings is....I'm just gonna call you Rief. Guy with the bag over his shoulder and the sword is Xelta. And....the other big dude is Ashe. There. Now we can get rid of the meaningless chit-chat." Ristavan motioned everyone except Grith and Riefel to sit down and have a coffee. "Now, lets see. The Necromancers eh? Years, and years ago there were problems with them. Old wizard named Phenrig, my great-grandfather, used to study them. He had a prodigy, a boy named Sareth. Sad thing. He was marked as what you know as the Dark Messiah. Father was a demon. Luckily, with the help of Leanna, the niece of another wizard, Menalag, he destroyed what was called the Skull of Shadows. Thereby trapping his Demon father in his realm of hell. But it seems that it is time once more for the Dark Messiah to rise again. It could be a descendant of Sareth, it could be someone completely new. But whoever it is, we'll need to be careful of them.

Now for the Necromancers. They are undead themselves, and control many forms of undead. Ghouls are a good example of this. They are all weak to fire, except for Ghouls which are weak to lightning. Oddly. Then you have their spellcasting abilities. They can cast spells like any normal human, as long as they can learn it. They use special staffs, called "Soulreavers", that can suck the life energy out of the living thing it struck, and turn it into Mana. Or magical energy. So thats how to fight them.

Going into their history is too hard and dangerous. So I'll go into the Dark Messiah. One person is marked, the child of the Great Demon Lord. He...copulates...with a human woman of his choice, and banishes them to the Human world with no knowlegde of him. Or he places a fake memory in there. But the child grows up, and eventually finds his mark. I think there is one that guides them to that knowledge. A demon named Xana, the Demon Lords......friend. She guides them to their destiny, along with the Skull, and releases the Demon Lord. That is, in theory. The child could banish Xana from their blood by bathing in any holy spring or pool. Or fountain. Or whatever you like.

Now for the Skull. This is what the Necromancer's are after. Their leader, Viidian, will stop at nothing to get the Skull. He wants, much like his ancestory, Arantir, to get the Demon Lords power for himself. Obviously it cant happen, but the Skull will allow him to release much of the demons living in there. So it becomes a three-way power struggle. Viidian on one side. The Dark Messiah on the other. And Stonehelm on the third. This city is called Stonehelm, in case you didnt notice. Menelag used to rule here, then after he died, his neice Leanna and Sareth, then their descendants, and as the last known one died, I took rule here. But back to the Skull. In some sort of ritual, it allows the Dark Messiah to release his father into the world, and basically cause Armageddon. But that hasnt happened yet. Usually the marked one cant go through with it, due to their human half, and bath Xana from their blood. Either that or we stop them. Now, the Skull lies in the Temple of the Skull, which has been infested by Orcs. To actually get to the chamber the Skull resides in, you need to access the Shantiri Crystal. The Shantiri Crystal acts like a key to open the lock of the crypt. Luckily, I have it here.

Now, all of you could stop the Dark Messiah from rising, but only if you accept the Shantiri Crystal, and get to the Skull first."

Ristavan placed a large pink crystal, about the size of Griths foot, on the table. It glowed with a self-sustaining light, and Grith could feel the power pulsing through it.

"I accept this quest." Grith said standing up. "And I know we barely know each other, but I HIGHLY suggest that we all go together. Maybe pick up some more allies along the way. What do you think?" Grith waited for the rest of the groups responses....

Ashe contmeplated what Ristavan said. It seem like an easy enough task. Then again maybe it wasn't. "Well hell, I'm in." I could use a little adventure, Ashe thought. "I've done a little temple raiding back in the day. And I've delt with Orcs plenty of times before, so this should be easy for me." Ashe leaned back in his chair until it was balancing on the two back legs and put his hands behind his head. "Anyone else wanna come on this adventure with Grith and me?'

Riefel saw 2 more people come inside, then Ristavan started to explain everything about the Dark Messiah and the Necromancers. After hearing the rather lengthy explanation about the Necromancers and the Dark Messiah from Ristavan, and a few insults, Riefel Shrugged to the offer, and said "If it would put the rumors to rest and allow me to have my peace back at my Hometown, then why not?" Riefel giggled at when Ristavan called her a "Freaky Girl with the Cool Wings", and then sighed, saying "Maybe I could see how my magic works in a real battle, instead of just defending myself from the occasional Bear during target practice" She giggled as she gripped her staff tightly, as she waited for other people's Responses...

Dyriun stood atop a ridge, looking down at the soft town below. Behind him were a unit of Iron Initiates, unchained younglings ready to prove themselves to their god. Elsewhere across the continent, other brothers of iron would be leading their own units into cities and towns, ready to purge all in the name of Iron.

His gaze swept the town. Stone buildings lined the streets and soft people walked among them, about their business. On the far end of town, there was a tower, taller than any other building in the town. Clearly, someone important lived there. He would enjoy making that one cry.

Turning to his men, he said, "Come, Children of Iron, today we make sacrifice to our gods!"

With a mighty roar, he hefted the large iron bar above his head and led the charge into the town.

As expected of the wizard, his knowledge proceeds his being. Only he could know the names of everyone in the room. I've a mind to ask him if he can train me in the art of magic. But perhaps another time. Xelta pondered the idea in his head a couple of times. When the informative lecture was resolved, a few thoughts resonated throughout his mind. The term Messiah is known as savior, therefore, this Dark Messiah known as a savior as well. But however, we do not know what he is saving. Also, is all this information truly accurate? It seems a bit contradicting for a savior to release his father and cause Armageddon. Unless it's another term for a revival for the world? This all seems a bit to hazy right now to say. I'll have to study this later...

Seeing the Shantiri Crystal, he noticed the pulsating atmosphere it caused in unity with the light. Looking at the others, he overheard Girth's proposition, Xelta could only agree with him half-way.

"You suggest that we go? I'm quite sure that is why we all are here. There's no reason for suggestion. Since the Necromancers and the Dark Messiah are both desiring something of the Demon Lord, we're going to have to go to both put an end to the Necromancers, and stop the Dark Messiah from unsealing his father to prevent the destruction of the world. Regardless, I've been sent here to do what I need to do, and if I need to put an end to the Necromancers, and defeat the Dark Messiah, then I'll do it.

"Although, I'll have to disagree on the possibility of recruitment. While we travel to find the Skull of Shadows, there is one thing we should be cautious about, anyone who is not inside this room. You can't expect them to be Necromancers, true, but the reverse scenario also applies. The Necromancers may be undead themselves, but I'm quite sure they've retained their intelligence. That being said, it's possible that they'll only remain at our side until they've reached their goal. Same should apply to anyone who is with the Dark Messiah. My suggestion is that we don't risk the option, or tell anyone about it."

Hearing Rief's remark about defending herself from a bear, he could only make a just comment. "Who knows? They might be able to send an undead bear your way."

Xelta couldn't understand why these people were acting this way. The world's in danger, and they're... they're... I just don't understand. Why are they acting this way?

"Everyone's this isn't an adventure. This isn't some petty quest to find an amazing treasure or artifact; it's a crusade to prevent the worst possible outcome for the world. If you have time to make humorous remarks, then we should already be heading out." Turning to face the wizard, he stated, "Wizard Ristavan, is there anything else we need to know before we head out to the Temple of the Skull?"

Ristavan barked with laughter at Xelta's question. "First of all sonny, a messiah is a savior. Combine it with "Dark" and what do you have? A savior of Darkness. Start thinking. Less wondering. Also, no I cant teach you. As for anything else you need to know, well, for starters, you wont be heading directly to the Temple of the Skull. Too dangerous. You need to head to the old Temple of Ashan, where the Shantiri Crystal was entaired. Viidian still has Blackguards there looking for it. Eradicate them, then I will charter you a ship to the Temple of the Skull."

As Ristavan finished, there was a howl from outside. "The city is under attack! From the sound of it, it's the Iron Initiates. You all need to get your asses outside, and ready to fight. I however am going to alert the city. Rief, get over to the ballistae. You seem quite...frail...and I wouldnt want you getting hurt before you need to." The wizard proceeded to shout through some sort of device and said; "The city is under attack! Man the ballistae, get the gates closed! The archers can hopefully pick most of them off before they get through, then we have skilled swordsman here to take care of them. GO!" Ristavan grasped Riefel by the arm and dragged her up some stairs. "My personal ballistae is up here. Magically enchanted, along with some modern engineering. Tips of the spears explode when they hit the ground. The tip itself is wood, with flintstones tied around it, with a strange powder packed in between. Only got about ten of em. But also, its extremely accurate. I'll be on the opposite side, deterring them with spells. GO!"

...

Grith had charged out the door as soon as Ristavan dragged Riefel up the stairs. He bellowed, looking and sounding extremely fearsome, and drawing his bastard sword, headed over towards the gate. He already was in full armor.

"Looks like it's time for a little fun with fire." Ashe drew his long sword off his back and his short sword from his side. He ran through the open door and down the flight of stairs. He reached the bottom of the stairs and saw it was chaos. People were running around and screaming. Looking over the sea of screaming people, Ashe saw a group odd looking people heading towards them. His two swords burst into a sheath of blue flames. Snickering to himself, he said "Bring it, metal heads."

Cody and Kori were walking towards the tower. "Why are we here again?" Asked Koru feeling a little nervous to be in a new place. Cody looked at her and laughed slightly. "I need some imformation on what we found. And there is no need to be nervous." He said putting a hand on her shoulder. "I just need to ask the old man a few questions." Kori never really heard Cody talk about Ristavan before though she heard him say his name before. "The old man as in your dad? Why would your dad know anything about this 'Dark Messiah" At that Cody began laughing even more. "He isn't my dad. He was more my mentor if anything. He found me and helped me out a bit. And he would know because he knows all and sees all." He said this last bit in a way that seemed as though he had heard it a lot. Kori was going to say something to that when a loud sound cut her off. Cody turned to see men raiding the city. He conjured a sword in both hands. "Kori go hide." He said running towards the men not giving her a chance to argue.

Riefel then had a smug look as Ristavan called her frail, which already pissed her off, She retorted to Ristavan "Call Me 'Frail' and Underestimate me again... I Dare you!" She struggled as she was dragged up the tower, She was about to cast one of her spells in objection, but she was already up to the top already, she could see the charging army, None of her spells could reach that far, except for 1, but she needed to be outside to use that, It was time to improvise and improvising was her specialty, She looked at the Ballista, then the Ammunition, which she grabbed 1 and then closed her eyes, All of the details of the arrow came into her mind, then she loaded the arrow into the Ballista, saying "I hope I only need to use this one..." She aligned the Ballista to aim at the Initiates and fired, hoping that it would make it right on target. In case she missed, Riefel's Eyes then turned indigo as she incanted "Nigrum Lamina!" Which materialized a long and Slender Black Sword, One that was almost exactly like a typical Ballista round "hmmm, How can I make this pack more of a punch?" She asked herself, Thinking hard...

Ristavan didnt blink as Reifel conjured up a black javelin. "Flint and powder are in the baskets next to the ballistae." he said without even turning. He fired off a couple lightning shots down at the strange men, and snarled. "Think they can invade MY city eh? I'll show them."

...

Grith charged the men, slicing left and right with his blade. "Gorram things are harder to kill than they look!" he shouted. "Xelta, watch yourself! Ashe, flank them!" He cut off heads left and right. He called on his huge voice and yelled up at the tower "Wheres that damn ballistae support!?" he yelled, his voice somehow carrying to Riefel.

...

"Might wanna hurry up with that javelin missy. The big warrior needs his ballistae." Ristavan said without turning. "Try giving the ballistae an intelligance, then conjure an arm to feed it javelin's that'll free you up to make more."

Dyriun's grim face cracked into a wide grin. His iron-capped teeth shone in the sunlight. The Purification had started much as he had expected, the townsfolk falling before them like wheat before the scythe. The town militia had been rallied, but they were nothing, insects before him and his brothers. But as they approached the center of the town, two warriors ran out of the tower to face them. They were on a different level entirely from the insects they had been squashing before. The brown haired one drew two swords, which burst into blue flame. The black haired one danced skillfully, dispatching Initiates left and right. Around them, the ground exploded as some form of foul magic launched itself from the tower's apex. There was some iron in these two. He would have to test them.

"The firey one is mine!" he roared, breaking away from the rest of the brotherhood, howling as he charged headlong toward the brown-haired warrior, iron swinging.

"I don't understand the humor. Peering into my mind isn't funny. Nor is it just. It's disgusting. I'm sure that my mentor Derxan would agree." He placed the diary back into his robe, and continued. "As for the temple of Ashan, you should have mentioned it in the first place. For a mind reader, you apparently didn't say everything we needed to know in the first place."

Hearing his command that he was to fight outside against the Iron Initiates, he squirmed. I see no reasoning for his authority.

Regardless, he walked outside, and saw the raid of the iron-clad warriors, terrorizing the city. He noticed one of them was carrying a large iron bar, and guessed it was a leader. However, seeing that these were just nothing but bandits, Xelto believed he had no relevance to the iron warriors themselves, and did not even attempt to fight them.

"This is not my fight. I have no reason to join this violent method of protecting a city that I have no ties with."

Xelto leaned against a nearby wall, and took out a book that resided in his bag, that contained information on the cosmic realm; a fascination that inspired Xelto to start searching for higher knowledge, knowledge that only the cosmos had. And fighting these warriors certainly did not help him find that knowledge. But then it hit him. "This city... It should have a library. I should go find it." he muttered with an apathetic tone against the others. He saw the struggle that continued.

... Nope. Still don't feel like it's my problem.

All Ashe could think about was killing the enemy. He was slashing left and right, leaving behind arcs of blue flames. The enemy were falling like drops of rain. He was a one man army. He was driving the enemy back with sheer might and flames. Lets see how they like this! Ashe lifted up his long sword and brought it down in a downward slash, leaving behind a large arc of blue. The arc then launched itself at the enemy and exploded in a plume of blue flames. He walked forward, but stopped when he stepped in a puddle. He lifted up his boot and looked down at the puddle. The puddle was a pool of melted iron. "Good to know my swords have a secondary effect on these metal freaks." Ashe heard loud stomps. He looked up and saw man carrying a large bar of iron. Giggling to himself, he "Time to have a little fun."

Kori ran toward the tower. As she ran she saw a man reading a book. She stopped in front of him. "Can you not see the fighting? What are you doing just reading!?" She asked in a sort of scared tone. "Why are you not doing anything?" *** Cody slashed through a man with slight trouble. He then put the two swords together to make a bigger sword. He sliced through two more men. "What the hell is this?" He said dodging an attack and kicking the attacker into his partner slicing them both in half. "What's the point of this attack? What do these people think they can gain from it?" He said running towards the tower. More attackers got in his way. As he fought them of he saw two others fightinf them.

Riefel then gripped the Javelin tightly as the tip of the Javelin was arcing black Lightning, She incanted "Signa incantatores! Recludere cum gravis incursus!" Which Sealed a Lightning spell in the Javelin, She loaded the Javelin and quickly aimed at a group of brotherhood, She fired the Javelin, hitting the center of the brotherhood and Expelling electrical energy, Electrocuting the people with the intent of stunning them, She jumped out the window with her staff and floated there, Firing off a bolt of Black Lightning from her 2 fingers just in front of a person that was charging at Grith, hopefully stopping the charge. She giggled and said "Now Now, That's not smart you fat-headed brute!", Riefel kept 2 of her fingers aimed at the man

Reading his book, he heard the fighting continue, and heard a girl ask him bothersome questions. He looked up, confirming if it was a girl, gave a loud burst of laughter, stopped immediately, and returned to his book, flipping a page, following a sincere tone of interest in the book. He mentally bookmarked the page, and closed it, sheathing it into his clothes. He walked up to the girl, and asked her, "You asked why I'm not fighting?"

"Perhaps the thought didn't occur to you. This is not my fight. Therefore, I have no reason to fight. This is not my city, I have no reason to defend it. I have no ties with anyone here, so I have no reason to protect them. That is my reason for not fighting. Since I have no idea who you are, the pattern will follow. If you are cut down right here, I will have no reason to feel sorrow. I will however draw my sword, knowing that your attacker will no doubt attack me in instinctive manner to protect his identity of the crime, or just for the sake of killing. If that is all you wish to know, I will go back to my book."

Walking backwards towards the wall and resuming the relaxed position he earlier obtained, he drew his book out from the robes, and opened it to his last read page, continuing the interest for knowledge.

Lightning rained down upon the square as Grith prepared to face off against another challanger. He was about to strike when the charger was struck down by a bolt. He grinned and looked up at Reifel. "Thanks! I owe you one!" He then proceeded to gut the rest of the weirdos.

...

"Nice shot Rief! You coulda been my apprentice!" Ristavan fired off a couple of his own lightning strikes, which were green, and laughed. "Come and get some of me you sons a b****s! Ha HA! I'm the descendant of Phenrig himself!" He was obviously enjoying this, and even started looking it.

Arcs of blue flames covered Ashe's path. Left and right, enemies fell around him. Melted iron from their armor and chains streaked the path of destruction left behind by Ashe. Lets instill a little fear into these metal heads. Lunging forward, he drove his short sword into the chest of an iron enemy. The iron man burst into blue flames. Ashe withdrew his blade looked around. He saw the enemy backing backing away. Smirking, he walked forward and they started backing away again. Over the sea of people, he saw the large man with a bar of iron. Ashe pointed his sword at the man and then pointed to a clearing where there were no enemies.. Ashe started walking towards the clearing.
