The Flood (Latin word for The Dead) are known as a species of highly virulent parasitic organisms the reporduce by consuming other Life. Many years back beyond what we can count. The Forerunners came in contact with these parasites. They named them the Flood. Flood has no curer but yet the forerunners kept searching for one. The Flood began to over come life before the Halo Rings we're fired. The Halo Rings we're created because of that. The Flood had control of very thing. The Forerunners Knew it was their death. They cleared the entire universe of all life. Including themselves. After the Flood and all life was gone the Forerunners began to clone DNA they recovered before the activation and recreated each species. They even brought the Flood to study. The oricals of Halo though this was stupidity. Later on in the new beginning the Flood Was released Once again.

The parasite began to attack the Covenant. After the Fall of Reach the Pillar of Autumn set off and found an object that was a Halo Ring in the game Halo Combat Evolved. The covenant had already been on the ring. and released the flood my mistake. the covenant worked hard to seal up the escape routs for the flood so they could escape. Captain, Jacob Keys Made the situation worse. The door the covenant they had sealed up was opened by the UNSC. It was and order Key agave. the Flood waited until they where in the room. They unleashed hell next. The flood swarmed them and took them. At this time however the flood was not fully evolved from their rest. at this sate John 117 took actioin making it easy for him to fight the flood. 117 was planning to activate the Halo Ring. Little did he know the Ring would kill all. Cortana stopped him. Then they became enemies with the orical. Because of this keys became apart of the Flood with a violent fight. key's lasted for one hour fighting the infection in side of him. he later grew into the Grave Mind (The singal mind rule of the flood). The Cheif 117 destroyed Halo by destroying the Pillar of Autumn making the Engines explode at a temperature of 1,000,000,000 adgrees. But some how in Halo two the Flood survived more evolved.

The flood completely took control of High-Chairity. The Flood infested planet took a covenant cruisers to Earth. Where the flood had evolved into the hardest fight ever for the humans. By the time cheif was able to stop the flood halve of the Earth was covered in flood. Admeneral Hood Stayed behind while the cheif intered the Ark. The Flood was even in the Ark. The Fight was violent. But 117 succeeded with the help of the Sangeili (Elites) and the Arbiter.

Though the Flood was defeated they still lived on some where in the universe far beyond reach of earth. Witch comes into story of Halo Wars and The Spirit of Fire.

The Flood is composed of s few ranks in their army of the dead.
