There probably is, but only seatteite has access to it, I presume.

Reason why I mentioned this is because of the mentality I get from their matches (see the DP thread in Games), which isn't really a good opinion on a lot of DN members (if they make stupid calls and all that), so...

 

But yeah, expect things like that to happen in public mode.

 

(Don't know if seatteite also has the power to ban users for abusing the system; he probably does)

A long time ago I noticed that the site didn't have a eula or terms & conditions, I posted it here and his reply was along the lines of he figured he would just ban someone's ip if they mis-behaved.

They don't touch our stuff and we leave theirs alone; simple as that.

 

And if they act up over here, I'll deal with them myself if they make trouble in this section (and anywhere within YCM).

Hopefully, it doesn't come to that point.

 

 

On another note, I know a lot of us wanted to see Pendulums get added to DP; so yeah if you have any that you'd like to use on DP, feel free to post them.

I didn't know you could do this, but you can actually edit the code and put in your own Type, so that's prety cool, but you can't search for them, so that's a downside. Any chance that you could make the search for Types a written search instead? That way I can use the custom Type we have for Project Evolution instead of having to write a note about it in the card text.

It's not maintenance this time, just the server going down. Fortunately I found the bug, but unfortunately it's not my software, so it will take a lot longer to fix.

 

The server will continue to go down frequently, but i'll try to restart it as often as possible, and fixing it is my #1 priority for Duel Portal now.

 

I didn't know you could do this, but you can actually edit the code and put in your own Type, so that's prety cool, but you can't search for them, so that's a downside. Any chance that you could make the search for Types a written search instead? I managed to restore a nice nukber or staples and generic cards last night, would be nice if everyone did pics for a few generic konami cards as well. ^^

 

I've got a wild idea though, a Yugioh Forbidden Memories - style tournament!

Dat ancient yugioh game with generic fusions (i.e plant + dragon = jungle b. King, Zombie + dragon = dragon zombie, female + rock = mystical sands).

 

If this idea gets supporters we can open a thread for it and actually do it. I can do the dirty work (card database, explaining the rules & fusions)

To imitate the challenge of bringing in powerful cards via fusion and to imitate the fusion mechanic - the fusions (i.e powerful cards) would sit in the extra deck, to be pulled whenever you have the material. ;P

the rather powerful cards, like two headed thunder dragon, Aqua Dragon, Skullknight, Zoa and the like should be available via fusion while the main deck monsters will consist of the materials / other cards from the database (equips, widespread ruin, etc.)

I'm really excited for this. :D

Not something for the priority list, but a neat feature I would like to see anyway: Having people's names with their cards they released for public. That way, you could more easily see who made and give them feedback on it. You could have a "Give Feedback" button and it would give them a message. Now, I don't know about previously released cards though, not sure if that would still be possible to get the names of the people who made the cards.

Cards can be edited by the community to the point that the original creator doesn't have much relation to the card. I prefer it this way where public cards are 'public property', as it were.

Why not just play the new Forbidden Memories 2? It is a mod created last month, and it is damn awesome. New features are:
* The God cards (Ra, Obelisk and Slifer)

* New Rituals (There is only 1 card to do the rituals now: Polymerization; this opened space to add more cards)

* Cards have rarity (Yellow is Rare; Orange is Super Rare; Red is Ultra Rare; Purple is Secret Rare; Blue are Secret Ultra Rare)

* New Fusions (Ex: Red Eyes B. Chick + Time Wizard = REBD; Cyber Dragon + Cyber Twin Dragon = Cyber End Dragon)

* Cards have EFFECTS (Ex: King of Skull Servant gains 1000 ATK for each Skull Servant in your hand and Deck)

* New Equip and Trap Cards (Buster Rancher, Magical Cylinder, Riryoku [is equip on this game], Axe of Fools and others)

* New Characters (Ryo Bakura, Karim, Diabound, Marik, Atem, Joey, Priest Seto and others)

* New passwords (Cards cost less now, no more 99999999 starchips cards)

* New ways to get cards now (Ex: Can only gain certain card from certain character after X wins)

On this note, the creator still has their threads here (presumably) to show they're the ones who had the original idea (raw form and all that).

Otherwise, they can just post it somewhere here, and we grade them accordingly.

Problem is not everyone bothers with set name, and threads can get buried easily.

Or they could just make an archive or something of their cards that's accessible to everyone (like in their signature/profile page).

If they post them in this section (which for the moment doesn't have a lot of content to sort through right now; thread-wise), it shouldn't get lost.

 

That said and all, some form of noting who originally made the card might be of some use; but if it's not worth the extra coding for seatteite to make, then just leave it as is.

As said, not a priority and for a lot of the reasons you guys pointed out. I am not honestly a fan of having people just be able to edit your cards. I would rather have them give feedback and then I can decide how to edit them myself. As for searching, sometimes you might run into a situation where they never posted on the forum or that they might not have given the card a name but only put up an image, so searching is going to be harder.

That's why I had a lot of cards set on private mode while I tested them out; don't want people tampering with them. 

But yeah, the comments would be nice (similar to what you need to do in Advanced/Casual, CnC its usage + what can be done to make it not as broken/such) and it's your decision to fix it.

 

For all we know, some random newbie could go on DP, have a match + probably lose, then get mad at the opponent's Deck that he decides to tamper with all of the cards used there + delete it. (Again, there's probably a safeguard against that sort of thing, should it happen, and seatteite can just IP ban)

 

I'm probably being a bit more extreme on this than it actually is, but yeah.

If the card needs to be fixed, then just let the creator deal with it first BEFORE you tamper with them.

 

Of course, public means that you're letting everyone do what they please with it.

IMO, the private function should just be to restrict others from editing, but they can still play with them for other things.

By the last part, you technically need to give a name for the card, along with any other details (stats, effect, Level, Attribute, Types, etc) when posting; otherwise the thread might get locked or TC given a reminder to fix it.

But really, don't forget that even if DP is based on YCM, we have some userbase from other places too that doesn't even have anything to do with YCM.

 

A feedback system would be wonderful, to be honest. If we want to promote better designs, we want the ability for people to improve, and the best way to do it is doing it directly.

 

I remember DP used to have a rating system for users to rate the balance of their opponent's deck after a duel, but that one was ineffective.

I know Zazu advertised this on Dueling Network (forums) a couple days ago, so we need to worry about that a bit. (Out of fairness, I've not been on DP lately because of its server problems)

 

Indeed though, a feedback system would be helpful + instead of deleting the card outright / manually editing it yourself, we let the member know that card is either broken/can be fixed.

Only drawbacks are that seatteite needs to code that in (like everything else), also the member in question needs to be able to take CnC + make the appropriate changes as necessary.
