Wait, Lin was the last metalbender? That sucks. Here's hoping Bolin learns how to metalbend.

Am I the only one who thought of the original series finale when Lin was attacking the blimps? I think Sokka, Suki, and Toph all teamed up to take down the Fire Nation's air force, so Lin's actions seemed like a bit of a call back to that.

Well, the only known Metalbenders in the show were in the Police Department, and anyone in the Police Station were all taken away by the Equalists. It was pretty likely that Lin was the last Metalbender before Amon took away her bending.

LIN BEI FONG IS MY QUEEN. SHE IS MY f***ing QUEEN. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO HER.

I love that Basco is back (fun fact, he was Ruffio in Hook). Honestly, it probably isn't the strongest move to have him sound exactly like Zuko, but....at the same time. It's f***ing Zuko. A part of me is just really happy to hear that on screen again.

I would also like to say that Meelo has to be the only person on earth who can still make me laugh at a fart joke of all things.

how did you people not see her debending coming calm down

Really, if energybending can take away bending it can probably return it as well, which can be a big reveal Korra gets from the spirit world. Or it's unreverseable and the directors are using this as an alternative to killing off characters, in which case oh well.

So I FINALLY got around to watching this show and WOW. The action is totally awesome and Amon is a much better villain than the ones from the first series.

HOWEVER, the main characters are kind of boring. The one dude and the pretty lady are Mary Sues. :/

I know everyone is aching over Lin's sacrifice and having her bending being removed by scary-as-hell-Amon

My only reaction was this in fact -> Here

I would tear bend if only I was a water bender (TT_TT)

They really did a good job of having a stand-in for killing a likeable character. In fact, it might be even more tear-inducing than death. I only wish they would come up with a more dramatic way of saying it, other than saying, "They took away your bending" over and over.
How would Azula even have a son?
When a man loves a woman, he... ask your biology textbook.
Who would be crazy enough to marry her?
Truthfully... he doesn't really have to marry her. Or at least, stay married to her. I know it's Nickelodeon and they'd like to emphasize a nice family unit like that, but if it were real life her husband may have skipped town when he found out how crazy she was. Or he might have died. IDK.

In any case, it's not impossible for a crazy chick to land a guy. Plus I bet it helps that she's royalty. Despite her insanity, she may have gotten better. *optomistic*

I liked Azula, and having her laying in a mental institution in a straight jacket seems like an unfitting end for her. I'd like to imagine Zuko thought to try to redeem her. It seems to me like that's something Zuko would be all about.

Re: Lin -

I knew a lot of people who though Amon was neutral but not necessarily a villain. Lightning Bolt Zolt was a dangerous criminal, Tahno was a jackass, Tarrlok was a douche, they were all mostly people who had it coming. The few who didn't, Lin's men and the like, we were mostly neutral about. But taking away Lin's is the moral event horizon. Amon hurt a character we were meant to like, so we dislike him more. Good ploy by Bryan and Mike.

... On a completely unrelated note, Lin took being debent like a sissy. She has retractable blades on her arms, yet didn't think about using them to break the whatever was tying her hands. I wish Lin would have fought back before being debent, and had been "put down like a wild animal", so to speak. She should have been fighting the whole way down, making pillars and murdering equalists before Amon got to her.

in my opinion

Meelo probably said it best for our feelings towards Lin:

"That lady is my hero"

Well, a bit of a downer ending, but it was so worth it to see equalist forces being pwned by Tenzin's children, with the Lieutenant being the episode's butt monkey (seriously, if one gets beaten up by a 10-year-old girl and a polar bear dog (when that person tries a sneak attack included), that person needs to consider a new career).

Yeah, and you seem to forget about CHI BLOCKING.
"There's no better force to deal with the chiblockers. Our armor is impervious to their attacks." - Lin (S01E06 "And The Winner Is")

Lin's entire clothes are made of metal. She metalbends to put it on. Other guards who wore similar clothes were attracted to a magnet.

There is absolutely no way she was chi blocked. It's just bad writing on Bryke's end. They should have had Lin fighting more, not groveling on the ground before Amon unbent her. She easily could have gotten free yet the writers made her not. Maybe it's all part of some ridiculous gambit on Lin's behalf but seriously, to imply that so many non benders could surround Lin and overpower her is ridiculous.

To be fair, the Chi Blockers are very skilled at close combat, easily outmaneuvering Korra and the others. It's not fair to demote them to Mook status.

Realistically speaking, you can't just kick the crap out of a ton of people when you're outnumbered. It's the realism that makes it so heavy.

Indeed, though I'll have to also agree with Hatcher on the idea of having Lin fighting all the way down. It would have been interesting to see and made it a lot more emotional when, during the entire fight sequence, you're rooting for her to get through all of the Equalists and to Amon only to end up being beaten.

I am pretty sure Amon being cemented as the "big villain" was when he beat Tarrlock after the dude attempted to blood bend him.

Though:

Amon : *walks past cell*

Lin : Hey Amon!

Amon : *continues to walk*

Lin : You jerk, get the f*** back here!

Amon : *still ignores her and continues to walk*

Lin : *picks up a rock and chucks it at the back of Amon's head*

Amon : *turns around* You dare challenge me? You're nothing without your bending!

Lin : *shrugs* That doesn't really mean I can't pick up a rock and throw it at you.
