Agro
So I just played it and beat it. It's only about a 2 hour game. Less in most cases. It's one of those games that I can't really write a review for, so basically I'll just give it a perfect 10/10 and tell you that if you have a PS3: GET THIS GAME. $15 on PSN Store. If you don't have a PS3, get someone you know who does to get it. Or as my friend brilliantly came up with: Get a PS3. This game epitomizes what the advantages of gaming are to other mediums such as the theatre. It tells the story as if it's a film, but there's enough interactivity to make it much much more than that. Add in the way the multiplayer functions and the pure emotions it can pull out of you, and you've got one helluva game. But make sure to have your thinking caps on, this will require a lot of analysis as you try to decipher the world around you. And put simply: This game puts epics to shame. Mass Effect, Halo, all that jazz. It even makes Zelda look bad at times. It is by and far the quintessential example of how adventure should be in video games. Discuss quite possibly one of the best games made in a long time.
Lonk
I'm probably missing something here. Besides the fact that it is literally an interactive movie/adventure game, what other forms of appeal does it have? This is imo, and my opinion alone, but I really wouldn't want to play a game that is beaten in 2 hours (unless if I am missing something).
Agro
I'm probably missing something here.
Because it's only $15 and the emotional and visual appeal of the game is the most spectacular feeling you may ever experience. It has a feel like you're playing a film, it's not an interactive film. It's able to tell a story exceedingly better than any other game I've seen in a long time while also getting its points about really life as we know it across very well, mainly because you're experiencing it rather than seeing someone else experience it. It's about what it is: A journey. While playing you'll randomly encounter other users along the way and you'll be able to work with them to advance through your journey. (and at this point you'll also be experiencing this game with someone else) Honestly you don't really understand the value and the amazing qualities the game has until you've played it yourself. Myself and 3 other friends can attest to this, so you should really take my word for it: It'll probably end up on a lot of people's top 10 games of 2012 list, and it wouldn't surprise me if it topped a lot of them. Oh, and I wouldn't think of it as 2 hours even after that since you're more than likely going to want to replay it over and over again.
Makο
Well, Machinima gave it a 9/10, so...good enough for me. Time to go get some money!
Žäīἢ
I for one agree with Aggro on this. This has to be my favorite game of all time, topping Ocarina of Time and other countless classics. Thr game is able to invoke such a wide range of emotions in you as you play through, simply with it's cinematic perfection. Yes, it's only about a two hour story. But, during those two hours, a story unfolds. One that is open to interpretation by the player. The anonymous multiplayer also adds to the emotions evoked. You will encounter other players at random. But there's no form of communication with them. No psn id. No mic communication. You can only use a serious of chirps, which can be made at different pitches. Figuring out what the other intends with their chirps, while they try to do the same with yours, all adds up to a sense of how easy it is to get along anf understand how other people, even complete strangers, see life. This game can truly change how you view the world around you if you keep a clear and open mind while playing it.
