DARKPLANT RISING

Recommended Posts

I quit Pokemon several years ago. At first it was enjoyable, but at the middle of the third game I got disgusted of its orthodox game pattern, and I quit. Nowadays I just play wi-fi with friends once a month or something, and that's it.

Well, I liked Pokemon's game system itself, but I hated the unoriginal story. I would still be playing Pokemon if that story was acceptable. So, I thought - These would have made the game much, much better.
-An story that allows multiple endings (for instance, if this was Diamond/Pearl, an alternative ending in which you gain control of Team Galaxy and use its powers to take over Sinnoh, etc.). Also, you can choose the Rival's position in the game world (If you choose to not become Galaxy's boss, you can even make the Rival him. Or, like N, the Champion. Or...dunno, but you get my point).
-A place made specifically for gaining EVs of a particular base stat (that's accessible after beating the champion), where you get more exp than in other places. For instance, if I wanted to train a Garchomp to beat my friends to a pulp, I can go there, make him train with Pokemon that have high EVs for ATK/Speed, and keep on increasing his level. Why this? So that you don't have to look for places best for training.
-Connected to above: A way to view your Pokemons' EVs. It's annoying how you got to have a notebook devoted to training if you want to get good at it.
-A Champion that gets stronger and stronger as you beat him/her. And not like in the recent Pokemon games, where he/she's STILL powerless before your muscle-bulging Legendaries and Pseudos. I mean really "All-Pokemon-are-Level-100-Sort-of-Strong". Not to mention, "All-Pokemon-Have-High-Base-Stats-Sort-of-Strong". Once you beat the Champ 10 or so times, that's quite acceptable, no? Well, meaning, it's a fair fight. I'd prefer it even more if all the Pokemon the Champion uses are Legendaries and Pseudos. It'd be best if he/she owns about twenty Pokemon, and randomly chooses six when fighting, so that each time you get to the throne, you get to battle someone with a different team.

That's much, much better, no?

Anyhow, you got others too?

Well, I started the game at third gen and still play it, although not that much now.
But I can imagine myself playing Pokemon non-stop with those ideas. O_O

Also, it'd be much more interesting if the story changed a bit depending on the starter you choose, And I don't mean to change weather you find Suicune, Raikou or Entei. Something bigger.

Pokemon's the defining example of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", sadly to say, though your ideas could go a long way with it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a different starter cycle either, maybe do Fighting-Ice-Flying or something.

I also feel that the recent DBZ games have started getting worse and worse. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was a great game and all they've done within the past 5 years is revert back to an older formula with less characters and poorer mechanics (IMO). I don't even get why they're still making DBZ games when it's the same thing over and over again (worse than Pokemon because this is the same story every time).
I'd say the best way to fix it is to make a NEW story with core characters from the series and some new ones that stray from the formula like people who use elements or swords and stuff.

I'm honestly tired of the Mario and Sonic sports games. I know that it is impossible for Nintendo and Sega to make a Mario and Sonic platformer game because they are trying to combine two different platforming engines, but why not a Mario and Sonic RPG game? It is able to work, fit into the fans hunger of a good Mario and Sonic game, and as a homage, can have optional, more powerful classes make a reference to other game series (For example, Silver learning Psi attacks like those in the Mother series). Nintendo and Sega are better off making that kind of game instead of trying to find a compromise of platformer engines or push another Mario and Sonic sports game.
