"I love when tides turn unexpectedly," Taio stated. "Seemed like I had it, and in the past two turns-bang. I'm down for the count!" He both hands out, laying flat. "Come at me, bro." And with that, Cerato let loose a huge blast of fire, headed straight for Taio. Upon impact, it exploded into a fiery frenzy just before turning green and depixelating. When it vanished, a green light bubble surrounded Taio. "Safety measures," he chimed. Every card on the field vanished, followed by the disappearance of Taio's holographic screens. He walked up to Jayce. "Totally nifty duel, dude!" He stuck his hand out in a fist, gesturing for a fist-bump. "Next time, you won't get so lucky!"

Jayce grinned, and went through with the fist bump. "Yeah, that duel was great. And I definately might not win next time, you're a good duelist." He thought for a second. "Well...no offense or anything, but why in the world didn't you attack with Cyber Dragon and the Phoenixs before you summoned Chimeratech Fortress the first time? I mean, I did have Half or Nothing, but if you had attacked, you could've done more damage later..." He scratched the back of his neck, feeling kind of awkward for asking a possibly insulting question. "Um...again, no offense!"

[Durandamon]

"If dinosaurs are this smart then how did they go extinct?" - Markus joked, while getting up from the floor

"So, what are we gonna do now stallions?" - Markus put his arms around the two duelists, and grinned - "Are we gonna have another duel? I feel the need to test my deck...I'm Markus, by the way" - He patted both duelists in the back and offer a handshake to both.

Taio's mind went blank. "Uh... because... ah...I...wanted the duel to last longer?" He hadn't really noticed that. He laughed. "Yeah, no. I guess I didn't think of it! Too caught up in the actual summoning of Fortress Dragon! But hey, lets check something." He picked up the top card of his deck and smiled. "This sucks. One more turn and, boom!" He shoved the card in Jayce's face. "Overload Fusion! With that I could have summoned my Ultimate Monster!"

--That wouldn't have summoned me...--

--Yeah, I'm confused too. WE'RE your ultimate monsters, kid--

--Moronic human...--

"Chimeratech OVERdragon! He'd have 3200 attack points and could attack four times! Tell me that's not awesome!" He quickly picked up his next card. "Oh my...oh my goodness...that would've been nifty." He started blankly at Ring of Destruction, which would have taken both players out if Jayce had some kind of defense. "Look at this," he said holding the cards to Jayce and the third kid who had walked up. Taio recognized him from winning the duel next to them.

--A dumb boy with bad luck...Why are you my holder?--

--I kinda like him!--

Jayce grinned at Taio. "Actually, Overdragon wouldn't have won it for you. It's effect to blow up all your cards when it's summoned is mandatory, and activates even if you have no other cards. So if you summoned it, I could've used Dolkka to destroy it." Then he looked at Taio's other card "Um...doesn't the WDC use advanced format? And that's banned? I think you have to take that out..." He noticed the boy talking to him and Taio. "Well they obviously all Overlaid themselves to summon big fiery dragons. And as for that duel offer...I don't really feel like dueling again right after that one. Although if you two were gonna play, I'd love to watch."

[Wave_Sine]

Nope. The beam hit the metal dragon, destroying it. As the final turns of the duel ended in the machine duelist's loss, the person he had dueled against, Markus, was it?, had returned and looked slightly out of breath. The two duelist continued discussing how the match could have gone had the machine user not made a few misplays. Curiously, every time the machine user stopped talking to think for a second, another small 'ping' of pain would go through Palir's mind.

In response to Markus's duel suggestion, Palir had an answer. I think that... I would rather... watch and observe... at this point... as well. It wouldn't do... for my strategies... to be revealed... before the WDC.

Taio laughed. "I know that, ya goof." He looked at Ring of Destruction. "This is a street duel. These streets have no rules!" he shouted, laughing. He looked at Marcus, the victor of the other duel, and his opponent, Palir. "I...don't really feel like dueling again." He gestured to Palir. "Like him. Don't want mah stragegies too exposed before the WDC! Speaking of which," he shoved Ring of Destruction into a seperate pocket than his deck. "Don't want that in there any longer." He looked over at the Palir guy, and huis eyes widend. "Holy...your...your a..." he ran up to him and began inspecting him restlessly. "A robot! No...a Cyborg! Oh my! Oh my god!" he said, encircling him. "The craftmenship, the design! Oh my! You are truly the work of a genius!" He stood in front of him, then bowed. " I, a simple man in the craft of machines, do not deserve to be in your presence! You are art! Art! The most beutiful work of human ingenuity I have ever layed eyes upon!"

--Do you freak out like this when ever you see a machine?--

Pretty much, Taio thought back to 44.

Uhh... thanks. This was the exact opposite reaction from what Palir was used to. Most people couldn't accept a truly thinking machine, though before the damage that required his ramshackle clockwork repairs, more people did accept. Now, being partly made of clockwork-like mechanisms, fewer people than ever had accepted him, hence the mask. He had never been able to repair his face, so rather than frighten random people more than the grinding gears and smooth, yet halting movements, he had fashioned the mask.

Palir slowly backed up, away from the machine duelist, stopping after a few steps. And also... the appropriate term... would be 'android'.

"Android! Magnificent! And artistic work! A wonderful one! Who constructed you? Are you part human? Did you put robotic parts into yourself? You must tell me!" He ran back up to Palir. "What makes you tick? Are you controlled, or self-conscience? Are your nerves controlled by computerized impulses?" At this point, Taio was hopping up and down with excitement. "You have few problems...you could use some oiling or some more advanced upgrades...oh! What am I saying? You are the most magnificent thing I've ever seen!" He rose his hands into the air. "You're...you're...a miracle of science!"

Palir continued to slowly walk backwards, slightly disturbed by the machinist's outburst. I suppose... that I should... be honored that... someone thinks... of me as... a 'miracle' He gave a dry, almost sarcastic chuckle after saying this. However... I don't realize... why you're so... surprised about a... intelligent machine. The Obots... the 'garbagemen'... if you will... are all quite intelligent... if dedicated to... their job. In fact, Palir had heard about one of the little robots he maintained deciding to go live with a family somewhere. I think that... your surprise and... wonder regards my... human form. Know this... I am not... from around here. Palir stopped walking backward. This person was a mechanical genius, from what had been seen of his Duel mat. But would he be able to help? Palir's body had extensive damage, and he feared that his shoddy repair-work had actually made it worse. He needed a new source of power, to begin actual repairs. He wondered whether he could trust this person whom he had just met with any of his real history.

"I see...you may be right stallions, it will be better if we keep the surprise for the WDC" - Markus was slightly disappointed, even if they had a point. His new cards were given to him to duel at the Carnival, not in a practice duel. Markus laughed out loud as he saw the Machine-Type duelist going crazy about Palir - "Hay it IS true, I didn't notice at all. Kinda ironic to use a Karakuri deck, isn't it? I'm curious too...who made you?"- He drew closer to Palir, just like Taio, but without flipping out; Markus didn't really care. A duelist is a duelist, and Palir was a worthy opponent as well. Hadn't Markus's last cards been Allure, Sangan and Meteor, he couldn't have won.

Markus hadn't noticed? Guess he had been too caught up in the Duel to have seen Palir's duel disk. He felt slightly less uncomfortable, now that two people were interested. Palir was still cautious, and wouldn't say too much, after all, his past was rather confusing and somewhat over the top. My origin...? Well... I suppose that... one would define... me as an... "Evolution" of machines. My... family... I guess... had created me... in the same... way as they... had been... though different. They only desired... to 'replicate' themselves... incorporating other... technology and making... more human-forms. Palir paused, this being the most he had ever revealed about his origin in all of his travels. Therefore... I am a... machine made by... other machines. There are... a lot more... details... but they are... too complex... to go into... right now. He turned around to leave. I guess that... I will see... you all in... the WDC.

Markus was caught by surprise at Palir's fast leaving - "H-hay! I want a rematch at the WDC okay!?"- Markus shouted, as Palir slowly disappeared - "Gee, what got him in such a rush? Still..." - Markus was confused - "A machine, made of other machines? My head hurts...care to explain, machine-type dueling stallion?"- He looked at Taio, waiting an answer from him, since he seemed like he knew a thing or two about mechanics.

Taio scratched his chin. "His backstory is a little wierd to me," he said. "But it proves that machines can become smart enough that they can construct their own machines...thats all I get from it. It sounds like his mechanical "family" put themselves into one bigger machine." He scratched his head. "He's a wierd miracle, thats for sure." Taio looked around, aware that his Gazer was still on. "Time," he mumbled, and the current time appeared on screen. "Hmph," he said. "We've spent a good amout of time here." He looked at Markus, and then at Jayce. They probably had somewhere to be. But Taio liked these guys, and they liked him, which was rare. Most people just left and never spoke to him again after seeing one of his outbursts. Just then, Taio relized how hungry he was. It was taco night at home, but he couldn't wait. He was starved. The nearest resturant was a bit away, and he didn't feel like walking...

 

Then he got an idea.

A huge grin came across his face. "You guys wanna see something totally nifty?" he asked.

"Dude, you look creepy smiling like that...yet..." - Markus was really bored, but he felt like hanging out with them more. They seemed like nice stallions, and their dueling showed how good they were at it too. Also, since mom wasn't home yet, he had no intention to go back yet - "Sure, what do you have in mind, Taio, right?"

Jayce stayed quiet as the exchange took place between Taio, Markus, and that weird android guy. Well....that's a bit weird. A sentient machine...made by other machines? Is that awesome or really creepy? He watched as the man...machine...thing...walked away. "Well, he's certainely an interesting guy..." He turned to Taio. "Sure, nifty is always good. I don't have naything to do now...so what do you have in mind?"

[Cosmic Angel]

Asuka was enjoying a glass of Champaign inside her limo, until she came across something that startled her. Asuka nearly choked on her Champaign when she witnessed the sight of a dragon firing a stream of purple energy. Asuka may have only caught a glimpse of the dragon as her limo passed by the open alley but it was enough for her to know what it was.

 

"Hine stop the car!" Asuka shouted.

 

The limo came to a screeching stop as Asuka commanded. The door of the limo swung opened and Asuka rushed out of the limo.

 

"Malady whats going on? please wait." Hine shouted.

 

Asuka heard her loyal servant call out to her but she ignored it. She rushed into the alley with a look of determination on her face. As she made her way down the alley she shoved a man with blonde hair and tan skin aside.The man who was shoved by Asuka fell into a pile of trash bags and garbage cans.

 

"Out of the way!" She yelled as she made her way towards the young man.

 

Asuka drew closer and closer to the you man.

 

"Hey you, are you the one who wielded that dragon." Asuka spoke in a very harsh tone and it was clear that she was angry.

[Medivh]

"Hey you, are you the one who wielded that dragon." Said an angry voice behind Greg, who turned around to a very angry women and jerked back.

Stay calm, said a voice inside his head.

"Shut up, I know what I'm doing," replied Greg.

Whatever.

"Umm...er...yes?" the boy stammered, and then flinched.

"In that case, Big Eye returns to my control, and I draw," Akuma sorrowfully drew her next card, not expecting to win the duel in the slightest. However, the card she drew would at least allow her to end the duel in a draw... assuming things went well.

 

"I play Corrupted Spirit," she informed, "This card allows me to revive a DARK monster in my Graveyard and equip it to that monster. Now, when either card is removed from my side of the field, both of them are banished instead and I take damage equal to the revived monster's Attack Points, but when it's destroyed by battle that damage goes to you instead, and I know just the monster to end this duel. I select Swift Gaia, the Fierce Knight to be revived by Corrupted Spirit's effect."

 

The knight from before had been revived, but was now in a dark, ethereal form. It still yelled in defiance, but that yell had become sounded as though it were corrupted by a demonic force.

 

Warrior-type/DARK/Level 7/2300 ATK/2100 DEF

 

"Gaia, attack Magi Magi Magician Gal, and end this duel once and for all," upon Akuma's command, the ethereal Gaia, the Fierce Knight charged straight into the opposing witch, only to be absorbed into her body. The woman could do naught but scream and flail about, but it was useless. Eventually, the spirit exploded inside the poor witch, dealing a great deal of pain to the monster and surging all the energy it had left straight through the opposing humans.

Yoki's Magician Gal exploded violently, and a wave of darkness exploded over the field, reducing both duelists' Life Points to zero.

 

BOTH DUELISTS' LIFE POINTS REDUCED TO 0; DUEL END

 

Yoki's D-Pad dissipated in a burst of light, and he placed his D-Gazer in his pocket. "See you in the WDC, man..."

 

Yoki turned away from Akuma, smiling. Yes...I can win the WDC easily...Just a few adjustments need to be made, but it'll all pan out in the end...

Yoki then examined the mysterious card in his Extra Deck, a card he had never used since he obtained it. Number 68: Paladin Dragon Damocles...I could've used this and taken her out easily, if I had managed to get all three Gagaga monsters on the field, like I had hoped...

Taio smiled brightly. "C'mon. This'll be fun." He reached up to his D-Gazer and tapped a button. "Get ready," he said quietly. "Start HoloBoard Sequence!" And with that, a flat, green rectangle of holographic light appeared under Taio's feet. "And those two!" two more appeared under Markus and Jayce. "And we're off!" He pointed of in some random direction, and the boards lifted of the ground. After that, the zoomed of in that direction, carrying the three friends. The moved at incredible speeds, zooming past people and Obots. In some cases, the traveled directly over them. As the boards raced onward, Taio began to maneuver his board in his own custom fashion. Approaching a tall building, he leaned back on his board and turned. The board hit the building and travel vertically up it. "Whoo-hoo!" Taio bellowed from atop the building. He turned and rushed straight down the building. Up until then, Markus and Jayce's boards had been moving on auto pilot, carrying them wherever Taio went. He regrouped with them and moved off in the direction of a cafe he knew. "I'm gonna turn off your auto pilot. Ok?"

[Durandamon]

"Woah dude!" - Markus almost fell off the board as they zoomed fast off the ground, but he managed to hold with one hand - "This is sick, amazing...I wonder if I could kick an Obot from here..."

 

Before Markus even tried to lean and use an Obot as a soccer ball, the board stopped and he met with Taio and Jayce - "What? Turn Auto Pilot off? Heck Yeah man! Although I almost dropped my deck this is awesome, how did you do this!?" - Markus was hyper at the idea of flying over everything else.

Jayce yelped as the board took off under him. "Whoa! Geez! That was a bit unexpected...but this is totally awesome!" He laughed, then stopped as he quickly grabbed the board to stop himself from being thrown off. But he got back up and kept riding. Then he heard Taio say something about disabling auto pilot. "Wait! Wait! I can't even ride a normal skateboard, let alone this! Don't we get helmets?! Trying to kill your opponents before the WDC isn't very sporting of yo-GYA!!" Jayce grabbed his glasses to keep them from blowing off his face.

[Durandamon]

"Hey Jayce! Chill out for a second, this is easier than a regular skateboard! Woohoo~" - Markus was spinning around, slowly getting used to the board's movements. - Markus was thrilled as he did a couple of tricks and almost falls, grabbing the hoverboard by the edge. He realized something had fell from his pocket, so he sat on the board and searched his pocket - "Oh god no...damn!" - said Markus after a quick deck inspection - "I think I lost a Secret Barrel...yup, I only have two. Damn you, really fun skateboard! Never mind, I suppose I can add another Full Salvo here..." - Markus replaced the lost card in his Deck with a card from his card box and put both on his backpack. - "Anyway, where are we going now?"

Taio laughed. "I don't knowwhy I never tried this before!" He looked at Jayce. "Helmet? No prob, bro." He tapped a button on his Gazer, and a green holographic helmet appeared on his friends head. Then he looked over at Markus. "Where are we goin'? Well, I'm a bit hungry, so how bout a cafe?" He then checked the ground for stray cards, but he had secured his deck with a rubber band, so it was safe in his pocket. "Not a lot of people go there, and the manager's a regular at my family's shop," he beamed. "I get the friends and family 25% discount." He looked at his two new friends. These were his only real friends, since most people he met didn't like him. These guys were awesome, as long as they didn't ask to play card games on hoverboards. Because that would be at most impossible with these things.

Taio was too happy with these guys to care.
