Yoki flipped his other card face-up. "I activate Remote Revenge, allowing me to switch the target of your destruction effect to a monster you control. Seeing as how you control only that Dragon Witch, I select her."

 

A small device with a large red button on it appeared in Yoki's hand. He pushed the button, and an explosion enveloped the monster. When the smoke cleared, however, the witch was still standing. Yoki payed it no heed.

 

"Well then...Draw!" Yoki pulled the top card of his deck into his hand. He examined his hand briefly, then made a decision. "I activate Heavy Storm. I don't need to explain how that one works, do I? Good. Now, I normal Summon Gagaga Girl!" A beautiful girl with an outfit similar to Gagaga Magician appeared on Yoki's side of the field. She smiled and winked at Akuma.

 

"Next," Yoki declared. "I activate GagagagGrab! So, if I control a 'Gagaga' monster, by sending the top card of my deck to the graveyard..." Yoki picked up the topmost card of his deck (Gogogo Golem) and sent it to the Graveyard. "...I can Special Summon one other 'Gagaga' monster from the Graveyard. So welcome back, Gagaga Magician!"

 

The chain-wielding wizard appeared on Yoki's side of the field. "Now, I activate his ability, changing his level to 3! Now, I'll use my two Gagaga Monsters to form the Overlay Network! Xyz Summon—Brass Devil Mellowmellow Melody!" The two magicians turned into two purple balls of light and slammed into a red vortex of energy that formed in the center of the path. There was a bright explosion, and a young green-haired girl on a large brass instrument emerged. "Now, I activate the effect of my Brass Devil, allowing me to detach one Xyz material from it to allow my Maestroke to attack twice this turn! And speaking of which...Mellowmellow Melody, attack Dragon Witch with Fiendish F-Flat!"

 

The girl blew on the massive instrument, causing a wave of black-and-red energy to blast toward the Dragon Witch.

 

"Now, let's finish up with two direct attacks, Maestroke!"

 

Maestroke jumped forward, slashing elegantly at Akuma with his rapier.

Jayce just grinned as the trap was activated. "Well, I really don't want your big shiny friend sticking around too long. As such...I activate the effect of Laggia! Laggia's effect is basically Solemn Judgment, except I detatch two materials instead of paying life. So I guess I'll negate Etaqua! Go Laggia! Evolution Supremacy!" Laggia's two Overlay units shot into its chest, and waves of fire shot out of it, obliterating the trap card. "So unless you have another out, your monster is basically screwed. Laggia's attack continues!" Once again, it rushed forward, spewing fire.

"I WAS FRIGGIN WAITIN' FOR THAT!" Taio yelled, probably heard for 3 miles around. "YA THINK I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS GUY B'FORE?" He laughed. "I still have...THIS!" he flipped up his second face-down. "Rare Metalmorph!" A fine layer of shining, pure silver metal coated Fortress Dragon, making him appear as if he was made of liquid metal. "And now this give Fortress an extra 500 attack. (ATK 3500) Next to that, he's immune to spell card effects." Again, he smirked, making a peace sign. "Nifty, isn't it?"

[Wave_Sine]

The meteor's impact had been rattling, but the laser almost seemed... familiar, before it hit and sent Palir flying back a few feet. As the smoke cleared, both the virtual counter to his left and the clockwork counter on his Disc hit 0 before a victory screen for his opponent popped up.

That was a... great Duel. I knew that... if I left... that cannon alone... it would be bad... but I had... to be sure about... that facedown. But what... could have been... Palir drew one more card from his deck before showing his hand to his opponent: 'Karakuri Merchant'; the 'Karakuri Ninja' he had added during his first turn; 'Swift Scarecrow'; a second 'Karakuri Cash Cache'; and the card he would have drawn, 'Solemn Judgement'. You have... incredible luck. Had you... not drawn 'Meteor of Destruction'... you would have lost. However... that was a good... training match... right? He put his deck back in its box, then his arm converted out of Disc mode. Palir waited for a reply from his opponent, then began studying the other Duel, recoiling slightly at the sight of the Fortress Dragon. This would be one duelist he would not want to face.

"Indeed, awesome duel, I needed to test my new deck out. Let's see my next draw...what do you know? It's Cloudian Poison Cloud, that ugly bastard...good lord I drew Meteor when I did"

 

Markus put his deck in his left pocket and put his duel disk aside. He stood near Palir, looking at the Chimeratech F.D. covered in silver metalmorph...

 

"You know, I prefer the regular Metalmorph over this one. It's more powerful. I didn't get your name by the way." said Markus looking at Palir.

Jayce grimaced as Laggia rushed straight into Fortress's counterattack. "OK...I suppose we all saw something like that coming." Laggia roared, then exploded violently. (Life Points:6000 -> 5700) "Well, I suppose I'll have to find some other way of killing Fortress Dragon now. I don't have anything at the moment...so I guess I'll just try to protect my life points. I'll set a monster, as I haven't used my Normal Summon yet..." Then his smile reappeared. "Actually, I'm kind of glad you had that. This duel would have been so boring if you hadn't even countered my first attack. Anyway...I guess I'll just end my turn with this."

Palir continued watching the match, as the large metal dragon crushed the dinosaur, then blasted the scattering 'hologram' remains with a laser, which seemed quite unnecessary. I am... Palir Coret. And you? He was mentally keeping track of the combatant's deck types and appearances. That Machine duelist... how do those 'solid' holograms work? And Cyber Dragons... This may be the work matchup I will have in the WDC.

Again, Taio grinned. "Machines can do a lot of stuff," he said blatantly. He looked at his deck. "Draw," he said. He took his card calmly. He didn't like to exaggerate his draws. "I play Magical Planter. To use this, I have to destroy Rare Metalmorph." He watched as the new metal peeled form Fortress Dragon, but then shaped into to large planks. "So now, I draw two cards." He pulled two cards at once, again calmly, from his deck. He looked over the cards in his hands and grinned. "Aw yeah!" He said, jumping. "I'll start with my De-Fusion spell! So Fortress goes back to my side deck, and I get these!" Fortress Dragon Imploded upon itself, and the shards reconstructed Cyber Dragon and the two Cyber Phoenixes in his grave. "And now," he said, "I play Nobleman of Crossout!" He looked up as a man clad in armor appeared on the field. "When I activate this card, you say buh-by to your face-down monster. In fact, it's straight out banished!" Taio pointed at the face-down. "Go, Nobleman!"

"I'm Markus, Markus Deux, nice to meet you" said Markus, although Palir was staring at the duel, calculating.

 

"Maybe he is right...these might be MY opponent's too..." - thought Markus. He sat, legs crossed as he watched the duel, trying to focus like Palir did. "A Nobleman spell card? That's a really old card...I wonder which monster is he gonna banish..."

[Brinolovania]

"OK, that was some pretty epic drawing skills there. Pulling Magic Planter, then summoning a bunch of monsters and destroying mine...and the monster you're destroying..." Jayce could only watch as the Nobleman rushed forward and slashed through his card. Before it was destroyed, it flipped up, revealing a purple lizard thing that promptly fell to the ground in two pieces. "Yeah, it's Evoltile Gephyro. If you had attacked with Chimeratech, I would have used it to revive Diplo and destroy Rare Metalmorph...but that's totally screwed now, I guess. Anyway...I have no counter. Continue."

"Yep, I'm just a boss like that," he chimed. "But anyway. Cuz' I've got Phoenix on my field, my machines are invulnerable to your spells and traps. So forget about that face-down," he explained, pointing at the face down. "And now," he said pointing to the sky, "I'm gonna show you the power of a triple attack! CHAAAAAAAAARGE!" His three monsters gathered, then pointed their bodies at Jayce. "Cyber Stream and Double Cyber Flare!" Each monster fired their own stream of light at Jayce for a direct attack of 4500 points of damage.

"Oh, but Phoenix doesn't stop all Spells and Traps, just the ones that target. As such, I can still use my set card...Half or Nothing! " From the ground, Judge Man rose up slowly. He held a broken axe in one hand. "With this card, you can choose to either end the Battle Phase or halve the ATK of all your monsters during this turn. I'll go ahead and presume you still want to do a bit of damage, so..." Judge Man hurled the axe in the air, then disappeared. The axe glowed, and the machines grew smaller. Still, Jayce was hit hard by the three beams "AGH!" (Life Points:5700 -> 3450) He swayed slightly, but stayed on his feet. "And you have no more cards...but are you gonna Xyz or something, or can I go?"

[Admiral_Stalfos19]

"OW!! You've cut me just below the breast!" Akuma shouted angrily, before lightening up a little, even giving off an evil-sounding chuckle, "No matter, you've just allowed me to summon one of the most powerful monsters in my whole Deck into Attack Position. Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness! Come forth and cease this foolish charade!"

 

Maestrok was just about to slash Akuma once again when all of a sudden, a dark malevolent blast had forced him backwards, and sent him sprawling along the ground, his rapier sliding along further away from him. At that time, a humanoid being descended rapidly towards the ground, a sword of his own being driven between Maestrok and the disarmed rapier.

 

Fiend-type/DARK/Level 7/2700 ATK/2500 DEF

 

"Well, I suppose you're wondering how I managed to get him out there now, aren't you?" Akuma asked mockingly.

 

[spoiler=Flashback: Around the beginning on Yoki's turn]'Well, allow me to explain anyway,' Akuma's voice projected through the flashback, as a memory of Yoki activating Remote Revenge in an attempt to destroy Dragon Witch, Protector of Dragons, but failing as Akuma had discarded Koumori Dragon to have Dragon Witch protect itself from such an effect.

 

"And then I place two cards face-down. Your move." Akuma stated.

 

'I knew you must've had some form of Spell or Trap destruction waiting in the wings, so I set Hand of Endymion... y'know in anticipation,' her voice lectured on, 'I also thought I might as well set Magic Formula at that time too, since it was kinda useless in my hand. In hindsight, I was beginning to think I shouldn't have done that, but no, you of all people had to waste a valuable Heavy Storm on two cards that weren't actually going to hinder your assault!'

 

"I activate Heavy Storm," Yoki announced, "I don't need to explain how that one works, do I?"

 

"OF COURSE, NOT!!" Akuma screamed angrily.

 

"Good," acknowledge Yoki, before he commenced with his turn.

 

'Now, I would've informed you that I gained 1000 Life Points since you destroyed Magic Formula, but I thought... no; I'll keep my mouth shut so you don't get to know how I got such a boost!' Akuma goaded, 'And besides, it wasn't enough. You were obviously going to try and attack me twice with that cursed Maestrok! Well, at least you allowed me to fulfil the conditions for Hand of Endymion, which allowed me to activate the effect of Card of Sanctity.'

 

Akuma's LP: 6000 --> 7000

 

The scene then fast forwarded to the point where Brass Devil Mellowmellow Melody was Xyz Summoned, and Yoki had commanded it to destroy Dragon Witch, Protector of Dragons, which it did with relative ease.

 

"Grr, at least I can do this!" Akuma spat, "Whenever all of my cards on the field are destroyed during the turn directly after I set Hand of Endymion, even if they're not destroyed at the same time, I can banish a Spell Card from my Deck and activate its effect, and I choose Card of Sanctity. Normally, I'd have to banish whatever's on my field and in my hand first, but I don't have cards in either of such places, I can just skip that step and draw my two cards. DRAW!!"

 

'And that, my friend, is how I managed to get Gorz in my hand,' the flashback was starting to fade just after she said this in her voiceover, ending as Maestrok elegantly slashed her in the upper part of the rib cage.

"Ooh, that reminds me," Akuma mused, "Since you dealt Battle Damage at the time I summoned Gorz, I get to summon an Emissary of Darkness Token, and its Attack and Defense Points become the same as the damage I took!"

 

A female sidekick arrived at Gorz' side, wearing steel body armour, arm-guards and a helmet, and also donning a sword.

"Aaaargh...DAMN!" - Markus protested as he lost ANOTHER duel to himself. Since his duel ended he started playing solo on the ground, with his old deck on the other side of the grass. Still, after at least five duels, he just couldn't Summon his Number. -

 

"How did my brother do this? I remember him having some cards...some rare cards that he used to Summon 66...If he left me 66...maybe he left the cards too?" - Markus jumped up and stored his old deck in it's box, and the current deck in his pocket.

 

"Hay I'll come back soon stallions, gotta bail now! See ya Palir!" - Markus waved as he ran as fast as he could to his house...

 

He ran as fast as he could, jumping over ponies and almost getting hit by a car more than once. It wasn't so far away, but the anxiety he felt made it look like he was running a mareathon.

 

"Maybe...just maybe" -Markus panted, he had run five blocks by now. He stopped for a second, and found himself at the local card shop, a block away from his home. It was an old building, but it had all the cards you could ask for. -

 

"I'll...come...in...for a ...se...second" - Markus was really exhausted, making his voice sound as paused as Palir's. When he came in, he was greeted by the air conditioner and the store owner. He was an old stallion, but he still knew how to duel. He had a deck holster with his Deck inside, which if Markus remembered was a mix of Fabled, Dark World and Infernity Deck. The store's walls were full of posters of the classic cards, like BEWD fighting REBD or Black Luster Soldier. The counter had every current booster pack, and some old cards that costed something extra(...)

 

 

(...)Markus left the store running, with 3 newly bought boosters in his pocket, to make the final stretch to his house...

 

He opened the door, but no ose seemed to be around...

 

"Mom must be at work now..."

 

Markus ran upstairs, and went into his bedroom. He searched high and low...over and over. He flipped his house upside down, but no sign of any card...unless...-"What about...his bedroom?" - That door had been locked since his brother left ten years ago. When Markus pushed it, he was surprised to see it opened, making a loud metallic noise from the door that hadn't been oiled in some years.

 

The room was dark, and the light bulb was broken, leaving shards of glass on the ground. On his brother's table, the night light was lit. He saw a small black box. It had a rectangular carving on the top.

 

"Let's see" - Markus grabbed the box and tried to open it. It was locked. He tried several times, even with a crowbar, but none worked. - "Wow this is hard...what should I do...hey is this...?" - he then realized that the shape and size of the carving on the box were those of a trading card

 

"I wonder..." He pulled a card from his deck, Marshmallon, and placed it in the carving. He waited for one, two, three minutes...nothing happened. - "I see...it's not just any card is it? You want the Number card, mister box?" - He grabbed Pain and placed him on top of the box. Immediately a cranking sound was heard, like that of old gears spinning...

 

"Okay...this is starting to look like a crappy fanfic isn't it?" - Markus opened the box easily...Inside he saw cards. At least 20 cards were there. But no note of any kind to prove they were for him.

 

"These look like my brother's cards...if he left me the Number...and the Number was the key..." - Markus grabbed every card and he put them in his back pocket, along with his still closed boosters...-"Don't worry bro, I'll take care of your cards"

 

Markus walked slowly now, he didn't want to get back just yet. He wasn't in a hurry. He now knew that his brother had, in fact, given 66 to him on purpose...he still didn't know...why.

Taio laughed. "Xyz? Nah. If you remember," he said, pointing his hands at Jayce, "Fortress went back to my Special Deck." He stopped and raised a finger to the sky. "Also, he can be Fusion Summoned by Contact Fusion." Taio's smiled turned into a huge grin. "So," he started again, "HE'S COMIN' BACK!" He trusted his hand into the sky. "Contact Fusion, Chimeratech Fortress Dragon!" Again, the three monsters disassembled, then reformed to create the gigantic mechanical snake. Fortress let out an ear-piercing screech, than shot a display of lasers into the sky. "Don't you just love spam decks?" Taio said. "And my 'Reuse and Abuse' Machine Deck is just the best they get!" He pointed to Jayce. "Yo move."

--Meh. It'd be better if you FRIGGIN SUMMONED US!--

Us? Taio thought. That second voice must be...my new number...Shock Ruler.

[Brinolovania]

Jayce sighed. "Oh, how I love facing gigantic beatsticks. And Evols are supposed to stop big monsters from coming out, not killing then...but given that you have no other cards..." He drew a card for the turn. "OK, this works. Continuos spell, Cost of Evolution! Then I normal summon Evoltile Nasasho! But he won't be sticking around too long, because I play...Evo Force! I tribute Najasho and summon Evolsaur Cerato, which now has 2100 ATK. And by Najasho's effect, I summon Evolsaur Vulcano, which in turn revives Diplo from the graveyard. Oh yeah, and when an Evoltile summons an Evolsaur, once per turn Cost of Evolution lets me kill one card. So yeah, Fortress is gone for good now." The mechanical dragon thing spontaneously combusted, and then exploded violently. "So with that gone...I'll overlay Vulcano and Diplo to Xyz summon Evolzar Dolkka!"[/] After the dramatic Xyz animation, there was a white dragon guy next to Cerato (ATK:2300) "And seeing as you can't stop me now...go for it guys! Cerato, Bite Crush! Dolkka, Blaze Breath!" In a flash of fire and fangs, 4400 points came out of Taio's life. "Well, I'm done. Let's see if you can draw as well as you did last turn."

Noticing his practice opponent leaving, a simple Goodbye, then is all Markus receives as a signal that Palir noticed his words. He remained focused on the duel, and something was unsettling him. He didn't like the tone of voice, the barely-hidden cruelty in the words of the machine user. Every so often, he'd receive little 'pings' of mental pain as the duel progressed. A look of relief crossed Palir's hidden face as the Fortress Dragon was approached by the blast of 'evolutionary' energy. If that machine duelist doesn't have a counter, this might end badly for him.

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

Yoki sighed. "You think I care?" Then, he smiled. "Now, since my second attack was cut short, a replay occurs...And I'll have Maestroke attack your Emissary Token!"

 

Symphony Devil Maestroke leapt forward and slashed at the armored woman.

 

"Next, Maestroke's effect activates. So, instead of him being destroyed in battle, he stays around for a little while longer." He paused for a moment, then continued. "And I suppose that brings an end to my turn."

Takao nodded. "Alright then, do you wanna head to the café nearby? I'm really one of only three customers, so it'll be nice and quiet..."

 

Takao suddenly realized what he was doing. I...I'm already hitting on this girl?! I mean she's pretty, and she seems nice, and...Gah! I always do this...I fall for a girl in a split second, and then she's all I can think about...Why do I do this?

 

Takao shook his head to get the thought out of his head. "So, does that sound good?"

Markus finally reached the place where the duel was taking place. He saw Palir and the two other guys, still dueling.

 

"What a nice walk...I should do it more often" - Markus said, as he sat in the grass and put his D-Gazer shades on, to continue watching the duel. - "Wow....Dolkka, impressive. When I left, I believe the one with the Fortress Dragon was winning..." - Markus did a quick pocket check, cellphone, wallet, deck. The new deck. It had the cards his brother left him, and some cards he got from boosters.

 

"This might be the deck that allows me to witness 66, FINALLY" - said Markus to himself - "But, there is no rush..." - said Markus while picking a can of soda from his backpack and gulping it down.

[Admiral_Stalfos19]

"It also ensure that you'll never see the light of day!" Akuma goaded, "DRAW!! I set one card face-down, and I Normal Summon Swift Gaia, the Fierce Knight without Tribute, since it's the only card in my hand!"

 

A purple horse with a strange headdress pounced into the fray immediately, standing on its hind legs, and neighing as it flailed its forelegs. Riding that horse was a knight in cobalt blue armour, who wielded two blood-red lances, one in each hand.

 

Warrior-type/DARK/Level 7/2300 ATK/2100 DEF

 

"And now I create my own Overlay Network, bringing Gaia and Gorz together to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye, in Attack Position!" As she said this, Akuma began laughing maniacally, and her eyes started to gleam as though she was possessed. The two monsters she originally had were gone. In their place was a strange, hollowed out cone with a ring around it, bearing the number 11, although it was written in some strange alien language.

 

Spellcaster-type/DARK/Rank 7/2600 ATK/2000 DEF

 

"There's no escape from your demise, mortal!" Akuma scoffed, "The first thing I'll do is detach Gorz so I can take control of your Brass Devil, and then I activate my face-down Monster Reborn, instantly reviving Gorz! And finally, I detach the last Overlay Unit from Brass Devil for you... as if you needed it. Now, Gorz, destroy that Maestrok once and for all!"

 

The Emissary of Darkness wasted no time in his orders to defeat the opposing monster. Maestrok tried to defend himself, but was easily relinquished of his rapier via one of the blades that formed from Gorz's wrists. From there, all it took was a simple slash across the chest with Gorz's main sword.

"And now I'm thinking it's time you had some of your own medicine! Brass Devil, wipe out over half his remaining Life Points with 2 Fiendish F-Flats!" Akuma commanded. All of a sudden, 2 sets of black and red waves were blasted in Yoki's direction.

"Now draw your last pathetic card so I can end this duel," Akuma sneered.

Yoki watched as his field was decimated. "Dammit..." he groaned, as his Life Points dropped to 2300.

 

Yoki drew his card slowly, and smiled. "I activate Pot of Avarice! By returning five monsters from my graveyard to the Deck or Extra Deck, I can draw two cards! So, I pick Gogogo Golem, Gagaga Magician, Kagetokage, Symphony Devil Maestroke, and the Gagaga Girl you detached from Mellowmellow Melody!" Yoki pulled the cards out of his Graveyard, and placed four into his Deck, with the remaining one going into his Extra Deck. Then, his Deck shuffled automatically, and Yoki drew two cards.

 

"Now," he announced. "I Normal Summon Gagaga Magician!" The chain-wielding magician was obviously a fan-favorite, as he reappeared once again. "Now, I activate GagagaCall! With this, by controlling a Gagaga monster, I can summon another Gagaga monster from my Deck! So, say hello to Gagaga Girl once more!" The Spellcaster girl reappeared on Yoki's side of the field, smiling at the sight of her master. "Now, by banishing this Spell from my Graveyard and paying 1000 Life Points, I can add another Gagaga card from my Grave to my hand. Luckily, I have GagagaGrab still in there." A light shone from Yoki's Graveyard, signifying the banishment of his Spell.

 

"Now, I activate the effect of Gagaga Magician, changing his level to 6! And now, Gagaga Girl's effect activates, letting me change her level to that of Gagaga Magician's!" Yoki was having fun. Something that hadn't happened in a LONG time. "Now, let's do this...I form the Overlay Network with my Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl! Xyz Summon, Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal!" The two monsters did the characteristic transformation into balls of light and slamming into a portal. However, this time, multicolored stars and hearts burst out of the portal. From the explosion of stars and hearts, a beautiful woman in arcane armor appeared, with two orbs of purple light circling her. "Now," Yoki said. "Gagaga Girl's effect activates, allowing me to reduce the ATK of a monster you control to 0. And I select...Brass Devil Mellowmellow Melody!" A bright light surrounded Mellowmellow, and her ATK dropped to its minimum value. "Next, I activate the effect of My Magician Gal—By detaching one Xyz Material and banishing one card from my hand, like my GagagaCall, I can take control of one monster you own until the end of my turn! So, I select Number 11: Big Eye!" The Magician Gal winked and blew a kiss at Number 11, causing pink hearts and stars to surround it and pull it to Yoki's side of the field. Then, a glowing "11" appeared on the back of Yoki's hand briefly before disappearing. Nothing seemed to have changed about Yoki, however.

 

"Next, I detach one Overlay Unit from Big Eye, allowing me to take your Gorz!" Big Eye's last Xyz Material entered its pupil, and a golden beam of light shot toward Gorz, pulling him to Yoki's side of the field.

 

"Alright, everyone, attack! Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal, use Heartfelt Hex! Gorz, Harbinger Slash!"

 

The beautiful witch blasted a pink beam of energy at Mellowmellow Melody, decimating it instantly.

 

Akuma 5200 —> 2800 (if no response)

 

Then, Gorz slashed with his sword at Akuma with full force, a dark aura trailing behind it.

Greg wasn't in exactly having the time of his life, here.

 

His opponent, some tan blonde guy in a short-sleeved shirt, jeans, and sandals, had 2 Set cards, 2 monsters (Cure Mermaid and Light and Darkness Dragon), 2200 Life Points, and Explosive Urchin face-up. All Greg had was a face-up Machine King - 3000 B.C, 1 Set card, and 900 Life Points. So he had to wipe out 2 monsters and reduce his opponent's Life Points to 0, assuming his opponent didn't activate any Spell or Trap cards, before Explosive Urchin exploded next turn.

 

Right.

 

Wait a minute... my face-down- that's it! ​Greg thought, eyeing the face-down he had placed 2 turns previous.

"I Normal Summon Steelswarm Sting." Greg said. "Then I activate my face-down- DNA Transplant, and I call DARK." A shadowy aura swirled around Cure Mermaid and Greg's Machine King. "Now, I overlay my Level 4 Steelswarm Needle and my Level 4 Machine King - 3000 B.C". The two monsters exploded into a pair of glowing orbs, one purple, one black, and swirled around one another, eventually crashing into the ground to form a swirling, dark portal, from which Greg's ace monster - Number 76: Plasma Behemoth - emerged.

About time you brought me out, a cold voice echoed in Greg's mind.

"Yeah, yeah. Now let's crush this guy and get it over with." The boy replied.

Fine with me.

"I activate the effect of my Behemoth," Greg said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can detach 1 Overlay Unit to roll a die, then, depending on the result, I can activate one of six effects." The black orb of light swirling around the Number drifted away, turning and expanding until it eventually became a six-sided die, which begun to spin, faster and faster, until suddenly it stopped. The result was 5. Greg chuckled. "All monsters on the field are destroyed, except for Plasma Behemoth".

"N-no way!" Greg's opponent shouted.

The dice exploded, destroying Greg's opponent's Dragon and his Cure Mermaid.

"I attack you directly." Greg said with a crushing finality, as Number 76 roared, sending a burst of purple energy out of it's maw and into the boy's opponent, reducing his opponent's Life Points to 0 and sending the man sprawling. His face-down cards flew up, revealing that he had Giant Trap Hole and Miracle Synchro Fusion Set. As the card's on the field faded away, the Plasma Behemoth looked at Greg before vanishing. The man got up, slowly. He had a few bruises here and there, both nothing serious. Greg sighed in relief. He had been worried for a second, until the man flipped him off and walked away, grumbling.

 

He looked at his surroundings. He was in the middle of any alleyway. Well, Greg thought. At least nobody else had seen.

As soon as the Brass Devil was destroyed, Akuma immediately glowered in anger. However, that anger became fear as she realized what was happening... her own beloved Gorz had turned against her, and was about to strike when suddenly...

 

"STOOOOOOOOOOP!!" Akuma screamed at the top of her lungs, bringing Gorz's mighty swing to a halt, the dark energies from his sword dissipating immediately, "You're not a monster, Gorz. You're a human being... well, humanoid being to be more precise. And you never were one to blindly follow orders. Look, I know you're still angry at me for not protecting you like I should have, and for that, I'm sorry. But... we're like brother and sister. It's always been like that."

 

Akuma started to shed some tears when all of a sudden, Gorz slapped her across the cheek with the back of his hand, meaning to slap some sense into her. If nothing else, it would at least allow the damage count to register.

"I... suppose I deserved that. Thanks Gorz," Akuma said in a tone of gratitude before turning to Yoki, "Anything else?"

Taio fell straight to the ground. "Ow..." he said, muffled because his face was planted straight on the pavement. He stood back up, holding his right arm. "Ok," he said, "That was good.But nothing I can't crawl out of." He looked up Jayce's new Xyz monster. "Ok..." He tapped one of his screens and an image of him came up. "Nice card. But I think I'd better end this...hopefully." He drew a card, dramatically this time. He just felt like doing it. "Huh. Nice. I guess I'll play Morphtronic Staplen in defense mode." He smiled weakly. "Ya know," he started, "This is the best damn duel I've had in a really long time! And there's no way I'm gonna lose it!"

Jayce returned the smile. "Yeah, this duel is awesome. But you have absolutely no way to win. There is Staplen's effect of course, but its mandatory, and you know what Dolkka can do...so you're really utterly screwed." He drew a card, but didn't even bother looking at it. "Plus I really like winning. But anyway... I guess I'm just stalling now. You have no cards to stop me, so...Cerato attacks Staplen! Then Dolkka follows up with a direct attack!" The fiery beasts jumped forward in an epic display of virtual deadliness.
