Jayce raised an eyebrow at the last card Markus played. "That's certainly an interesting card...insanely weird and risky, but interesting. And...that was your fusion Magician who we all heard talking, right? Cool." Then, after listening to Taio's little monologue, laughed out loud. "Um...the monster said she'd strip for him? Seriously? That's really kind of disturbing...and on a totally unrelated note, you called us a clique? Are we? I suppose we kind of are...I'd say we're all teens with Numbers, except I don't have one, so that really doesn't work." He finished off his last cookie while Taio talked with Cyber Dragon. "Archaic English...that's a bit odd for a shiny machine thing...and...um...this is kind of a n awkward question...but Markus, what the monster said about stripping? Has she done that for you before? I'm not honestly sure if I want to know, but still..."

Amber saw yet another stranger approach "Oh god.... It's like I'm a magnet for random people..." Amber then heard the new character said ALL of their names.. as if he knew who they all were.

"Whoa whoa whoa! and WHO are YOU?" Amber asked, questioning this Shade. "How do you know our names?"

"I agree with you there Amber... It seems our duel has brought more attention to us that we can shake a stick at..."

"What do we do about this...?"

"That... is a very good question... If we can avoid another duel.. especially from Faker... We'll be in the clear.. at least until the WDC begins..."

"Emm....I...I don't know what she is talking about, I swear!" - Screamed Markus, like if he was being interrogated. At least, he felt that way. He drank half can of Coke at once, and ate an entire cupcake with it.

"But Master, don't you remember when...?"

"Galene! Remember that here I'm not the only one listening...your, jokes. Because it's a joke RIGHT? Tell them I'm joking PLEASE!" - Markus was sweating fast, Ker shouldn't have said a word at all.

"Master...!" - said Galene, angrily.

"...In my defense, I was sad and lonely...emm. Trying to change the weird topic, Archaic? Really? Why would a machine from a distant future speak Archaic!? Also, Taio, you have also shown us your only deck, so we know your strategies too."- he ate the last muffin from his tray, and finished his Coke.

The woman, now identified as "V.", quickly, in one swift and fluid motion, raised her sniper rifle, loaded a magazine full of high-caliber rounds that was in a pouch around her belt, and cocked the weapon so that it was now loaded. She moved the rifle into position, gripping it with both hands as she peered down the sights and aimed the barrel straight at the middle of Shade's forehead. "How. Do. You. Know. My. Name?" She growled, as if he had just said something that would get her into a serious amount of trouble. The look in her eyes was that of ice-cold murderous intent, like she would really kill him if he gave the wrong answer.

Assuming that her name was indeed "V." as in the LETTER V... Amber could understand her reaction; She was a bit freaked out about the fact that guy came out of nowhere, and knew EVERYONE'S names. Amber was getting nervous now... ESPECIALLY now that V had her Rifle aimed at another person.

"V... Just relax.. and put the Sniper Rifle/ Duel Disc down..." She said trying to be as calm as possible. Probably wasn't working, and V probably wasn't listening either.

"M'Lady.. Just let the situation take it's course. We don't need this Amazon pointing that thing at you. Then no one will be able to save Seth from Number 89...."

"A..Alright Zebulos..." She whispered as she backed away from V. "But still.. Where did this guy come from...?"

"As a matter of fact, I did read over them," was all Dr. Faker could manage before someone had offered to participate in his "experiment," so to speak, "Splendid, we have ourselves a participant. Let us begin, shall we?"

All of a sudden, a man by the name of Shade had arrived and, for no adequately explored reason, revealed himself to know everyone's name. And I really mean for no adequately explored reason! But enough about that, let's just move to the story.

'Alright, just stick with the façade,' Dr. Faker told himself, 'No need to botch it just because some fool showed up to try and ruin everything. Although it would've helped if this blithering idiot happened to have a Number Card, I must admit.'

Shrugging it off, Dr. Faker drew his 5 cards, plus 1 more for the turn.

"Elders first, if you don't mind," he stated, before commencing with his turn, "And I'll start by summoning Koa'ki Meiru Drago in Attack Position. Then, I set 3 cards face-down, and reveal a second Koa'ki Meiru Drago to fulfil its maintenance cost."

A turquoise, four-winged dragon had taken the stage, soaring overhead before landing on the battlefield nearby. Three backs of Duel Monsters cards were then projected behind the dragon, and Dr. Faker revealed a second copy.

Dragon-type/WIND/Level 4/1900 ATK/1600 DEF

"I'll call it a turn for now," Dr. Faker informed.

[spoiler=Dr. Faker's Status]LP: 6000

Cards in Hand: 2 (1 of which is Koa'ki Meiru Drago)

Cards on Field: Koa'ki Meiru Drago (ATK), 3S/T

Greg blushed after flipping over his face-down Marshmallon.

"I'ma go...Uhm...Get a refill on my coffee..."

It's still half full, said 76.

Do shut up, answered Greg, as he got up and walked to the soda machine...thing...whatever you call it, and proceeded to fill the half-full coffee cup with Mountain Dew.

Bit much, don't you think? asked the Number.

I said shut up.

Sitting back down at the table, Greg responded to Taio's question. "Sure. I don't see why not. It's not liek 've got anywhere to go any-" he stopped abruptly. "Yeah, sure. Cyber Dragon speaking Archaic English, huh?"

Taio laughed. "Ok, Markus. Whatever you say!" He then looked back at his deck, thinking about cyber dragon's speech patterns. "I think Cyber Dragon speaks the way he does because of honor or something. And yeah Jayce, we're a clique." He shrugged. "I guess we really are a clique." He took a huge bite of his muffin, almost finishing it. He then took a big sip of his hot chocolate. "You guys have seen my only deck, and you guys had two, and I've seen both of them!"

Shade laughed at V. "Lets just say I've done a share of snooping, and I know a lot. And don't try the gun. The mask is bulletproof," he then beat his chest with one arm, "and so is the jacket. I'm also heavily armed, and so is the bike." He flicked his wrist, launching a chain from his sleeve. It tied around her gun, and he threw to the side, ripping it from her hands. "I have weapons concealed, so try anything and your all in a butt load of danger." He looked over at Faker's duel. "Koa'ki Meiru's huh? Interesting. After all, Faker is who I'm here to see. You three don't matter much to me. And I promise I wont wear your name out, V." Beneath his mask, he was making a huge grin. "You people entertain me. And Amber, I can hear spirits, so whatever Zebulos says, I can hear. And yes, before anyone asks, I have a number."

Jayce turned as red as Greg. "Um...Markus...that's...um...well...um..." He paused, then made a tactical decision to change the subject quickly. "So...Cyber's a weird honor freak? That's a bit odd...but given what else has happened today, I'm willing to call that totally and utterly normal. And decks...Greg has Steelswarms and Vanillas...and Markus has Casters and...um...it was Burn, right? I wasn't really paying attention to your duel..." He turned back to his hot chocolate, icked up the mug, and drained the last few drops. "Ah...that was good." He glanced at the clock on the cafe's wall. "It's getting a bit late....we should probably be going soon."

Amber didn't know what surprised her more... The face that this new guy was practically a human swiss army knife, or that he was listening in on her's and Zebulos' conversation.

"... As long as he doesn't mess with us.. We should just walk away now to avoid any further conflict..."

Amber nodded to her number's voice, and started to back off, but then looked to the young man now known as Joseph, then back to "V" and Shade (whose name she still didn't know). She knew in her heart that she could not leave her acquaintances, and potential friends with this "Shadey" character... and she REALLY didn't like this Dr. Faker. If Zebulos didn't trust them, neither would Amber.

"No Zebulos... I can't just leave them here... I think I'll stick with them... besides.. I doubt V will let us go now that we know her name..." Amber thought...

"V." grimaced as her rifle was yanked from her hands like a toy, and simply thrown to the cement sidewalk without a care in the world. This mere boy was playing with her, mocking her skills and her abilities. She tried her best to conceal as much as she could, and he was simply throwing around the one letter of her name that mattered like he had her rifle. She continued to give Shade a murderous glare as she calmly walked over to her rifle, picked it up, and inspected the weapon for any damage. After she had made sure the sniper rifle was still in good condition, she ejected the round, unclipped the magazine, placed the round back in the magazine, stowed the magazine in a pouch, and slung her rifle over her shoulder. She stood next to Amber, still staring intensely at Shade, but with her arms crossed.

Amber watched V as she picked up her weapon, and continued to watch as V approached and stood beside her. Didn't look like she was about to leave THEM either, regardless of reason... But at least now, Amber felt somewhat better about being around V, now it was just worrying about Joseph.

"Be careful Joe... I have a feeling that this is more than an 'experiment'..."Amber warned.

"M'lady... Are you sure you want to put your trust in these people...?" Zebulos asked

"Yes Zebulos... remember... 'V' could have chosen to duel for you as a prize.. But she didn't... I think we can count her as one of the good guys."

"As you wish M'Lady..." He smiles. "You are becoming more confident already. I'm proud to by your number."

"Thanks Zebulos." Amber thought to herself, then looked to Shade "We don't want any trouble... but Who are you anyway...?"

When he was wished luck he gave the cheesiest smile and V sign he could give as he drew his first card. "Draw!" looking at the card in hand he gave a slight smile. "Wrong deck....ha!" despite his moment of fail he placed two cards in the spell/trap zone and set 1 monster face down. "Not much to do first turn, I'll set two face-downs and I'll set up a defense, first tun is always better, but I enjoy the challenge none-the-less".

On the field three card holograms appeared, from the monster area there seemed to be a small moving shadow, Josep himself didn't notice it, but all that could see the duel monsters could see it very clearly. "I hand the turn to you mister Faker" he said politely...forgetting he was a doctor.

"You say?" - Markus looked outside. The sun was lowering, it was at about 2 hours to sunset - "Yeah, you're right Jayce. Maybe we should pay up and leave for the WDC. Meet the other contestants and stuff. Greg you are in the WDC too right? We can all go together" - he finished the last pink frosted cupcake, and got up - "How much is it guys?"

Taio nodded. That all sounds good to me." Nicole came by, and Taio pulled some cash from his pocket and paid her. "That should cover the four of us, with the family and friends discount." Nicole nodded in agreement. "Thanks for coming!" Taio stood up and stretched, and looked at his D-Watch for time. "I suppose it's time to go." He looked at his deck on the table, and put it back into his pocket. At least your less annoying that Shock Master, he thought to Cyber Dragon.

--Hurtful!--

--He's right, 16. You are quite annoying--

Thy does not see what thou could possibly have found annoying about myself or thine partners in dueling...

Never said Mashiman was annoying, He thought back.

--Thanks, moronic human--

I take that back. He looked up at his friends. "Wanna show Greg how we get around?" he said, grinning creepily.

***

Shade laughed. "You entertain me, V!" He held his stomach to hold back the laughter. "Anyway," he said, "We have no reason to be hostile! I'm simply here to watch a duel. And of course, study Faker's tactics so I can beat him to an inch of his life in the WDC!" He began to laugh again, this time more maniacally than hysterically. "Of course, I look forward to destroying all the contestants in the tournament!" He looked over at V again. "Try anything," he said, "And everyone here dies. Me, and my bike, for that matter, are heavily armed and conceal many weapons, which include explosives. Just warning you. Anyway, I don't believe I've introduced myself. Most people call me one of three things. I prefer Shade, but a lot of people call me the Masked Man, and some call me a huge pain in the ass. I think you'll find the third the most appropriate." And then he pointed at Amber. "You," he said. "You have a lot in store. You have a mission and a role. Make sure you complete them."

Jayce grinned back at Taio. "Of course. I think he'll probably like it." He turned to Greg. "Hold onto your socks bro...because otherwise this might blow them right off. And if they're loose, I mean that literally. They will blow off. Well, only if your shoes are also loose. But whatever! Oh, and thanks for paying, Taio" He checked his deck box, making sure it was properly secured. I really don't want to lose any of my cards right before the biggest tournament I've ever entered...that would be a total fail. He stuck the box back into his pocket. Then he thought for a second, and moved it into a zippered one. "So...ready to go?"

The woman just continued to stare the laughing idiot down. He clearly had no idea how deep the hole he was digging himself was. The first mistake he made was that he was clearly announcing his intentions to everyone, meaning anyone with two brain cells would be motivated to stop him. She didn't like the creepy old codger dueling with a lockdown deck of some kind, but he was a necessary evil compared to the imbecile on the motorcycle. His second mistake was trying to provoke her, or get some sort of emotional response out of her. It wouldn't work. She was too well trained for him to break her. The third mistake was telling everyone his name. She now knew who her target was, and how to find out more about him. And one of the most crucial mistakes was making her conflict with him incredibly personal by humiliating her in front of the other participants.

But the biggest mistake of all...was letting her walk away intact.

Shade continued to laugh despite V walking away now. "Oh, V! You're hilarious!" He slapped his leg and whipped himself into shape. "You think I'm that stupid? No, I'm trying to provoke you. Apparently, it's not working. But I'm going to skip the evil villain speech. Cuz' I don't want kill you all or rule the world or any crap like that. I want to protect our future doomed to become a dystopia!" His muscles tightened, and he became angry simply thinking of this dystopia. "So V, do you want to stay and watch, or are you going to leave?"

Had Shade not told them that he could hear her conversations with Zebulos, She would have been surprised to hear Shade talk about her 'mission'. He clearly could have overheard them talking about Seth, and they're plan to find and help him. But still.. Shade had begun to annoy her as well. Now she felt that V and the others would question her... Sure she would have no problem discussing her plight with her new found friends; They might be able to help her out, but now.. Dr. Faker would probably know about it too. She had to be careful....

"Mind you own business Shade... My 'mission' is no concern of yours!" Amber said boldly. "And same goes for V's situation.. whatever it may be..."

Amber looked to V. and smiled. "Don't worry... I won't do anything to get in your way..."

Amber then turned back to Shade with a raised brow. "Crush the other contestants..? Who do you think you are?" As Amber steps in front of V. "... People like you make me sick.... You think you're all high an mighty and you can just walk all over people... You're the kind of person my friend Seth turned into after.... after..." Just thinking about it made her angry...

"M'lady.. calm down before you get hurt... This man is NOT bluffing... As over-confident as he may seem.. I can tell he has the power AND skills to back it up... Please stand down... I beg of you."

"... I guess your right Zebulos... But still! I smell a cheat!"

Shade laughed again. "I'm not high and mighty! I'm just cocky!" He pointed at Amber. "Your almost as funny as V! And I can walk all over people! I'm doing it now!" he said, spreading his arms. "Here you are, all p'd off! That means I'm ahead! And Zebulos is right. I have the skills and power to back up anything I say. Here, in the snap of my fingers, I could change this into the most dangerous scene you've ever seen!" He laughed again, this time at himself. "Get it? Scene? Seen? Ah, I'm hilarious! And I'm not talking about your mission to save Seth. This mission, you are already part of, and now you can't escape my game. No one can!" He walked forward. "And if we play our cards right, we can save this world." He laughed again. 'Ha! Cards! Get it? Cuz' we play card games! I crack myself up!" Then, he punched Amber in the gut. "There's more were that came from if you talk to me like that again. And let me warn you, I am nothing like Seth."

"I mean this!" Taio shouted. He hit a button on his D-Watch, and holoboards appeared under the four of them. "High-ho, silver! Away!" He shouted. The four boards blasted off in the direction of the WDC, of course, Greg's was on auto pilot. The boards were moving faster than they did the first time so they could get to the WDC faster. Taio turned and dodged some Obots, an occasionally jumped over someone. He looked back to check on his friends. "You guys doing okay? And Greg, how do you like this?"

Amber stood there, listening to Shade talk, and then realized that he had slowly been making his way toward her. Suddenly.. she couldn't bring herself to move.. Was she scared? She looked to him intently. "W...what are you d- !!!" Amber was interrupted as she was punched in the stomach by Shade.

Amber's eyes widened as she suddenly found herself in a lot of pain. He put her hands over her gut and fell to her knees, and then hunched forward. She didn't say a word, and didn't make a sound, other than that of her feet shifting on the ground, and her backpack's contents rattling inside. She was in too much pain to really do anything besides breathe, and shed tears of agony. As her backpack shifted, one of her deck boxes slipped out, and hit the ground, causing Number 93 to slip out face-up. Zebulos could feel that Amber was in trouble, and it was almost as if now he could see her.

"Amber!! Are you alright?" Zebulos cried out to her. He then made a growling sound "You fiend! That was uncalled for! What do you want from us! EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!!"

"I'm...fine...I think..." Greg said, but his face turned green and he threw up. The boy heard a girlish yell from behind him.

Ha! You totally got her! said 76.

Who said you could talk?

"Sorry!" he yelled back. "Anyway, this so cool. Aside from the nauseousness, of course, but that's beside the poi-" Greg's face turned green again. "I should stop talking."

"This is gonna be so awesome!" - Markus grabbed his Caster deck from his pocket and the Burn deck from the back pocket and put them inside the back pack, along with another deck. - "Better let Greg on auto pilot Taio!" - Taio then called the hoverboards, and Markus instinctively jumped over one, but this time the speed was doubled. Markus performed a few tricks, staying behind Greg - "Hey man, I'm right below yo...Whaa?" - he had to move aside to dodge Greg's throw up. - "Ha! You totally got her!" - said Markus, as he heard a scream behind. - "I know we need to go faster, but don't you think this is too much for Greg?" - he tripped with an Obot, and almost fell off his board - "Stupid thing! Curse you and your family!" - Markus shook his arms around, casting a deadly curse on the Obot's wife and children. - "You will perish! Die under my foot!" - finished Markus his imaginary hate curse.

"Master! Did you want me to curse the Obot?"- said Aikaterina, the dark Caster.

"Oh god, tell me you didn't..."

"I thought you wanted me to..." - replied the Caster.

"Ugh...I'll send Palir an apology letter later..."

"Please tell him I'm sorry for the locusts inside the Obot"

"What exactly did you do to him!?" - without answering, Aikaterina banished into Markus's Deck.
