evilfusion
http://forum.yugiohc...oryeranime-eff/ Topic wasn't blatantly needing a lock. Wouldn't it be better to simply lock is and allow another mod to post that lock post to make it not seem like he is going power crazy? Also I would like to refute the idea that a mod has the right to lock something just because they consider it illegal if it isn't their section. Are you kidding? The same topic had been made earlier, within a day. And your complaint is not so much that the D-Control person locked the topic, but that he should have locked it without saying why, and let another mod make the "lock post"? No one cares which mod makes the last post in the thread. Some threads dont even get "lock posts". A lock post is summed up as a mod saying "This topic deserves to be locked. I'm locking it". Furthermore, how many mods actually go to a locked thread in their (or anyone else's) section specifically to add a post agreeing the topic deserves to be locked? I only go there to see what the hell happened before moving on with more pressing and interesting concerns. EDIt: As for mods not locking "illegal" things outside their section, that's more something to be discussed between mods, not a member complaint. If you think a thread was unfairly locked, take it up with the section mod or the guy who locked it (if you know that). If the section mod disagrees with the non-section mod, they might unlock it. OR they might agree and your complaint would be a waste of time. If the section mod has an issue with D-Control or other mods helping them run their section when they're absent or busy, that would be between them. You don't have a reason to complain about whether D-Control or other mods are infringing upon the rights of the section mod to moderate their section. Guest Welche
Crab is sarcastic and joking to te point where I think he spams basically but that's a complaint for another day. Anyway this won't go anywhere so lock.
evilfusion
Actually, in truth, I find the huge block letters with the "announcement" to be annoying as hell and severely detracts from the humor. But I'm used to Crab being like that. Great moderator and good logic skills, and usually enjoyable to read posts. But yes, the hypocrisy has never really been unnoticed. Photon Change...lock topic. CinnamonStar
His complaint is about the thread being locked by a mere mortal like Yuzuru Otonashi instead of being locked by a resident president going either by the name of Hatcher or evilfusion. Moderators and D-Control people are assigned to a section and primarily moderate that one.But when a Russian spambot posts his stuff about medicine and women bags, a non-section D-control who happens to be around shouldn't just look at the sky and do nothing. Guest Welche
That says nothing about why Black is allowed to mod the decks section and lock topics. (I think it was decks, might have been TCG)

evilfusion
Originally, I think the moderator group was specified to a particular section, and therefore their moderator options were limited to that section only. Outside that section, they'd be a normal member, but with a different classification, plus have access to the AdminCP and its tools. Damage Control is not limited to one section. They have the ability to use their powers in all sections, similar to what I think a Super Mod was supposed to be. However, most mods get around any limitation by having Damage Control as their secondary group, giving them the best of both worlds. The basis of Damage Control is like a backup mod. If a problem arises and that section mod isn't available, they can still do the basic action required to moderate that area, such as locking a topic, or deleting a post, and other things like that. Also, it should be noted that only Admins can promote a person to a full moderator. This is why people get promoted to Damage Control, rather than Moderator. Guest Welche
Actually if you read the question I'm asking what gives them the write to do so. Also who mods the mod forum?
evilfusion
Well, I explained the "power", and the "right" comes more from the fact that Damage Control probably originated from backup mods. It depends. You're not really "supposed to", in the sense you shouldn't go around looking for things to moderate in other sections. But some things are very easy to spot as out-of-line and there's no harm whatsoever in taking care of it, especially if the section mod isn't around. Why leave a spam thread open just because you're not the section moderator? You have the power to take care of it, and you know the thread/topic/post is against the rules and needs to be taken care of. I dont think anyone specifically moderates the Mod Forum. Everyone who's allowed there has Damage Control or Mod powers. So anyone theoretically could moderate the section. I assume the Super Mods have more "weight", but it's very rare to nearly non-existent that the mod thread needs moderating.
