Here it is, the official topic for Twisted Metal. Here, you can discuss the game, share your PSN names and set-up YCM games.

In order to save time for someone not in the know, here's the wiki description: "In concept, Twisted Metal is a demolition derby that permits the usage of ballistic projectiles, machine guns, mines, and other types of weapons (up to and including satellite-based weapons and nuclear weapons). Players choose a vehicle, and an arena—or a series of arenas in the story mode—to engage in battle with opposing drivers. A variety of weapons and upgrades are obtainable by pick-ups scattered throughout the stage. The last driver alive is the winner.
Although each individual game features its own storyline, they all revolve around the same basic theme: a vehicular combat tournament called Twisted Metal is presented with the promise of granting the contest's winner any wish they desire. In almost all of the games, the host is a man called "Calypso"; however, in the series' fourth installment, perennial contestant Sweet Tooth briefly takes over.
The hosts of these games are the persons who are, through arcane means, capable of warping reality itself to grant the wish of the contest winner; however, there is a general "be careful what you wish for" theme in the game series, as nearly all of the winning contestants end up with "not-so-happy" endings, due to the skill and proclivity of the hosts for twisting the words of their wish around—often to deadly effect. The games in the series usually contain a healthy dose of black humor."
I think this topic should start off with this discussion: "If you have Twisted Metal 2012 for PS3, discuss your opinions on the game. If you don't have it, discuss your opinions on the series in general."

I've been waiting forever for this ever since I saw it in GameInformer and the YouTube trailer. Reminds me of Transformers a bit with certain upgrades that allow the vehicles to transform in humanoid Mecha versions of the vehicles that have different abilities that are more potent and easier to take out your enemies and win the race. But with what I saw in the trailer, it looks like you can only turn into that form if you are facing imminent death and you have something that allows the transformation to work. Either way, I'm still hoping to get this one way or another.

TWISTED METAL IS THE BEST!!! XD

Actually, Sweet Tooth is the only one with a mecha form. It's an Alternate Special weapon.

And Aggro.....normally, I respect opinions....but yours is just wrong.

Well, every vehicle has an alternate special, except for Juggernaut, who makes up for it for having the most damaging ram in the game. It just so happens that Sweet Tooth's makes it into a mecha.

There are also only 3 characters in story mode, 4 altogether, being Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, Dollface, and Preacher. Preacher doesn't have a story for some reason but is seen in the story cutscenes of the others. Each character can use any of the vehicles in the game now, which has actually drawn alot of criticism for being so different, though I don't mind it much.

As far as online goes, it's absolutely amazing and very fun.......IF you can connect. The server has alot of connection issues atm, which according to David Jaffe should be completely remedied within the next two weeks.

I've been addicted to this game since I bought it. It's well worth the money, and if you get the Limited Edition, like I did, you get a code to download Twisted Metal: Black for free from the PSN store.
