Eventually, it will (hopefully) contain all of the tier one, and possibly even some tier 2 decks from every format in the history of this game. Enjoy! This is my favorite build, but Blade Knight, Exarion Universe, Swords of Revealing Light, Enraged Battle Ox, and many other cards were very viable. Look through old packs yourself and see what would work! This deck is focused around using Metamorphosis multiple times (re-used with Magician of Faith) to Summon Thousand-Eyes Restrict and other good Fusions like Ryu Senshi, Fiend Skull Dragon, Last Warrior From Another Planet, Dark Balter the Terrible, and others. Once Thousand-Eyes Restrict was out, Tsukuyomi and Book of Moon allowed a player to use its effect multiple times to get rid of more than one monster. Tsukuyomi obviously functioned better than Book of Moon because it was a plus instead of a one for one. Asura Priest and Airknight Parshath were amazing cards because of all the Scapegoat tokens everywhere. Everybody mained 2-3 Scapegoat, and this was easily stopped with these cards. Mefist was also a pretty cool guy, but Parshath was ultimately better. Setting was a very prevalent part of gameplay, much moreso than today. Thus, Nobleman was a godly card. In fact, the above deck should probably be using multiples of it, but room is hard to find. Decks for a while don’t really change much. The only difference is that this doesn’t have Monarchs, but you honestly could add some in. Flipping Merchant will likely draw you an out to something or a Pot of Avarice to plus. An interesting note about the next few years of decks: people mained lots of Sakus and Widespread Ruins, but everybody played Mobius. I honestly don’t get it. It seems really bad, so if you’re netdecking you should probably add that. Reinforcement of the Army is amazingly versatile, adding Swordsman Lv2, DDWL, DDA, Exiled Force, or Donny Z to the hand. At any given point, you have outs to just about anything. Swordsman screws set monsters, DD guys and gals are outs to big monsters and anything else that’s a problem, and same with Exiled Force. If you’re winning, you can add Donny Z to ensure that win. I’m not sure what the side is for to be honest, I’d have to test. The other big deck of the time was the exact same thing but without Merchant and only like 1 Pot. It's up to you, really. This deck is really cool, and I rather like a lot of the techs. 3 Reaper is something that wasn't too common, but this guy knew its amazing properties. There was a time that I played 3 Reaper in everything in September 2011 format. I never disliked it, I just think new stuff makes it worse. Goldd is cool with Graceful Charity and Morphing Jar. Looking at this deck at face value, those are the only discard outlets. However, if one looks at the format as a whole, Goldd basically says "Have you read Spirit Reaper?" It's pretty funny to +2 off of the opponent's Reaper. 3rd RftDD was allowed so you could probably use that if you feel like it. Same with third Sorcerer. Pro tip: Don't just randomly f***ing drop your Sorcs. There are 3 reasons to use it: 1. You would lose if you didn't. 2. You would win if you did. 3. Your opponent has already dropped theirs and you don't like that. I guess you can also hit s*** like Reaper and Sangan, but don't go too crazy It seems like this deck is made specifically against Reaper, as shown by Enemy Controller, in addition to the already discussed Goldd. Reaper really is a force to be reckoned with, though. It was even better then than it is now. A much slower format with much more maindecked one-for-one monster removal means Reaper is an amazing card. And as we'll see, it sees play in the top tier decks through Tele-DAD and even farther. It was staple before April 2006, and it remained playable long after. Just like many decks for years to come and years gone by, it focuses on card advantage and one-for-ones. Tsukuyomi with Spy and Guard is amazing on its own, but Necrovalley and Royal Tribute are cool guys. Commandant wasn't around so I guess you have to run Terraforming. Just try it out, it seems a good of an idea as cutting Saku when people are using Mobius. Also, for those who don't know, Recruiter Chaos wasn't actually that good. It was the second best deck, but greatly outclassed. You Flip Summon Dekoichi. You now have 8 cards. This is 133% of the 6 cards your opponent has. Tributing Dekoichi for Thestalos would eliminate your Dekoichi and one of the opponent's cards in hand. Now, you have 7 cards to their 5. That 133% goes up to 140%. This may not seem like much, but your opponent now has less outs. Repeated use of one-for-ones makes each Dekoichi and Magician of Faith and Treeborn and Breaker and Reaper and Mobius and Sangan and Old Vindictive Magican that much more potent.[/size][/font] [font=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif][size=3]Thestalos helps you win more and has a big body. Zaborg helps you get into a winning position. Mobius can go either way. When going second, a player takes out various cards from the main deck (most notably Monarchs) and brings in combo pieces for Cyber-Stein OTK. This strategy is obviously better going second because one cannot OTK on the first turn with it. The OTK is to get out a big fusion (Cyber-Twin, Blue-Eyes Ultimate, Cyber End) and use Megamorph or Limiter Removal for game. Nimble Momonga and Mystic Wok allow for a second use of Cyber-Stein. Looks way different from all of the decks for the past few years. Card of Safe Return is amazing. Zombie Master and Book of Life consistently allow a player to draw loads of cards and win. I honestly think that Perfect Circle draws cards better, but this deck was a factor. With all of this drawing, what does one do? The answer is simple: Discard cards for Lightning Vortex and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. This deck makes great use of those two cards and wins the game from there. [/spoiler] There was also some stupid burn deck but that deck was stupid and the purpose of this thread is to relive old formats (mostly the good parts) and burn isn't a good part so I'm not even including that lol. Also, the last SJC of the format was flooded with a newly-released card: Dark Armed Dragon. Three copies of it were allowed for use, and boy were they used! The deck was spectacular and game-breaking. It stuck around for another format, though. More on that in a sec. Anyway, the next format was like Cat and GBs and BW and LS then there was LS GB BW Cat again then there was March 2010 which was cool until TSHD (you could use Flamvells and Machina Gadgets and bad stuff ) after TSHD it was Sabers, Frogs (FTK or Monarch), Infernities then it was QD plants and non-QD plants but the format became Samurai for like a month then it was samurai plants and other stuff then it was plants because billy brake and then rabbit came around and rabbit became best and i stopped using caps and windups came out too also all i know before goats is yata lock Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Mostly I mean the formats where there was a really good deck, yet not a broken F/OTK deck. But yeah, might not be able to work out in the end. [/quote] Good job making me laugh. I thought that wouldn't actually happen this format (as in like 2 days from now), but I saw one or two GB decks on DGz and thought that was funny. All you need to be doing is collecting the best decks of all the formats then categorize them into an official catalogue. Compiling coverage doesn't take very long at all, and I use that website to find sample decklists and discussions on gameplay/techs already, so I have it open in tabs.
