Maybe just the whole game in general.

Yeah. Manly tears were shed before the game even reached the conclusion. Refering to the slogan "No crying until the end", Mother 3 broke that slogan.

The ending in Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess TT_TT[spoiler/] Midna destroys the Twilight Mirror. As a result, Link and Zelda will never see Midna again. :(
9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors
[spoiler/]
Safe Ending. Snake sacrifices himself to let Junpei, Seven, and Lotus escape the incinerator, and get revenge on Ace for killing Clover. Snake and Ace are burnt alive. This was after Snake had been shot by Ace 6 times IN THE CHEST, and yet he still had strength to move and make sure Ace couldn't escape. :'( Wow. Just wow.
That's not too sad, it's not like Midna died or anything

I prefer Adam's death in Metroid other M

When Dom sacrifices himself. First time watching the scene I was pretty much having a panic attack and screaming at my television. Crazy, yes, but I couldn't help it. Over the course of three games and seeing everything his character went through, it was as though he was a real person and I couldn't bear to see him go.

At the end of Emi's story arc when she finally tells you about her past. Again, it's another case of me getting so emotionally attached to a character that by the time it's over, I don't want it to be. I still think about Emi whenever I'm about to give up on something and it helps me get through it.

When John Marston is gunned down. It was rough. He wasn't necessarily a character that I could relate to, but he was one that I could respect and it pained me to see him go through all sorts of trouble just to have his family back and be lulled into a sense of security right before being killed. It didn't make me bawl or anything, but it definitely left me feeling sad.

Ghost's death. Funny how the story was so outlandishly terrible and character development was non-existent, and yet Ghost's death managed to strike the right chord with me just because I thought he was cool. Probably the most shallow of my reasons for feeling sad about a video game moment, but it wasn't the only FPS that twisted my heart.

The very end of the tank mission when the father gets executed. The quick backstory that was given just portrayed the guy as any military man might truly be; a loving father and husband who can't wait to return to his family. He had to barrel on into a hellhole and wasn't able to so much as say goodbye. The first thing I did when I had returned to the area he was executed at in whatever mission it was was look for the toy he was given from his kid.
Those are all of my personal saddest moments in video games. Katawa Shoujo may be more of an interactive animation but whatever, it still makes the list.

you're kidding right? Cele's suicide attempt was sadder, by far.

No i'm not. At the time I was using Aerith extensively and suddenly Sephy appears out of no-where and Stabs her. I actually put down the controller as I watched the scene unfold. It was that horrifying.

The music, the atmosphere, everything. For one split second I ignored the fact that the characters Hands were Cubes and the fact that no-one was actually saying anything. I was Cloud, I felt Aerith's Pain.
