Ok, basically, this section of the forum is dead. Stone cold, dead. This contest is just a way of trying to involve more people, but hopefully have some fun as well. I have hosted a contest before so I'm familiar with judging, although I will except one judge, provided they can ensure to me that they are attentive, punctual, have good understanding of the metagame, and have at least 4* or more. The themes for each round will be overly quite generalised so as not to stunt your creativity, but restrictive enough to allow for fair comparisons. So if you enjoy or have ever enjoyed card contests, your admission would be great!

To join, simply pay me 30 points, all of which will go into the pot.

You can PM me my card if you'd rather others not see it, or you can post your card on the thread, I'm happy with either.

Round 1 will eliminate 3 people if I get 6 or 7 participants, and 4 people if I get 8. Round 2 will decide the winner.

Participants with 4 stars or more can enter normally. Those with 1, 2 or 3 stars must send me a card they deem to be a good assessment of their abilties. If I approve of the card, you can also enter the contest. This is because whilst members with less stars can be amazing card makers, it does filter out people who may not be ready for competitive contests.

Prizes:
1st: 3 Reps + all of the pot
2nd: 2 Reps + 75 points

Pot:

Cannot be Special Summoned. When this card is Tribute Summoned; banish the 1 of the monsters used to Tribute Summon this monster from your Graveyard. This monster gains ATK equal to the tributed monster. Once per turn, you can decrease this monster's ATK by 600 to negate the Special Summon of a monster. The ATK of this monster cannot be increased except by it's own effect.

Ok, *drum rolls*

ROUND 1 IS OVER!!!

Basically, I've rated all of the cards on this scale, which I feel highlights a card's important elements whilst not forgetting more minor ones:
Balance: /100 - If you score a lot less than 100, it might not be because I feel its overpowered, but sometimes underpowered, so its all about getting the right mixture of strength and drawbacks.
Playability: /100 - If you score a lot less than 100, it might be because the card is precarious, unreliable or simply hard to play in a deck with a consistant outcome and synergy.
Cosmetics: /40 - If you score a lot less than 40, it might be because the picture used is of low quality OR the name of the card is lacklustre OR a combination of the two.
OCG: /30 - If you score a lot less than 30, it might be because your punctuation, grammar and graphology has some faults in comparison with current OCG. Outdated OCG will get slight reductions respectively.
Originality: 30 - If you score a lot less than 30, it might be because your card effect is overused, tedious and generally fails to provide anything other cards perhaps can to a certain extent.

Overall: /300
I must also stress that Every Single Card was good, the card making standard was high and the amount of contests eliminated are large, so please don't take it personally if you got eliminated, because all of the cards had unique selling points.

Now, for the results!

1st Place goes to...
Syns

Balance: 93/100 - The ATK is very balanced for this card in my opinion, the effect balances the difficulty of setting up with a rewarding effect, the Xyz monster destruction could dispose of your own xyz monsters who have past there best point, or inflict major hurt on an opponent, perhaps slightly abusable because of this. But the effect is circumstancial and tuned well.
Playability: 93/100 - With Xyz being the new craze, this card has very high usability. Its spell/trap negate allows it to set up and it can do a lot of damage in specialised decks. Very playable.
Cosmetics: 38/40 - The picture is so astounding quality and feels as it should. Perfect for the card. The name is also rather cool, but maybe slightly simple.
OCG: 30/30 - I see no errors?
Originality: 25/30 - Destroying a monster when your tributing is quite an original concept. Xyz chain destruction is also innovative

Overall: 279/300
2nd Place goes to...
Future Paradise / Eternal Elysium

Balance: 96/100 - I love this card, and I think you've got it just right. Its not unstoppable, but it doesn't go down without a fight. It has a drawback to prevent its power from becoming excessive, but has a very handy effect and SS ability. Its like a stronger version Command Knight with perks that represent the tribute it requires.
Playability: 92/100 - Usable in a lot of decks, SS'ing and walling is always useful, and Level 4's leave great possibilities.
Cosmetics: 30/40 The picture is pretty cool and fits the description well, Not entirely sure if the 'Wildahbeast' name makes much sense, overall decent but could be better.
OCG: 30/30 No errors that I could see.
Originality: 27/30 The effects individually may have been used before, but interlinked they give the card a different feel to many others.

Overall: 275/300
3rd Place goes to...
HadesRuler

Balance: 86/100 - Its lack of physical punch is made up for in some part by its flexible summoning and usage is removing monsters from play. I feel its a bit underpowered overall, but feel it has strengths few other cards do, especially upon being destroyed.
Playability: 87/100 - As already mentioned, flexible summoning requirements + quick use of banishing ability makes it fairly playable. But the tribute makes this sort of effort less useful. Its effect upon destruction could reincarnate some decks (I imagine zombies could be one) and therefore is playable for those its specialised towards. But it reverses the whole point of the card in the process.
Cosmetics: 37/40 - A really awesome image, backed up with a cool name. Nuff said.
OCG: 29/30 - Very minor punctual things such as words not being plural such as card (when it should be card's) but that is miniscule, the OCG was otherwise great.
Originality: 26/30 - The effect is quite original, its varying ATK and banishing ability isn't just your run of the mill effect.

Overall: 265/300
and last but not least! The 4th and final person through to the next round is...
Psi

Balance: 92/100 - Quite balanced, maybe slightly underpowered. But its ATK should hit 3000 with the banish monsters ATK added, and it can probably afford to negate 1 SS before losing its ability to hit hard.
Playability: 86/100 - 2 Tributes require playable effects. Negating a SS is a very playable effect and therefore would make the card usable. However, its ATK declines rapidly and cannot be recovered, so it really wouldn't be a staple in most decks. Its decent but overall the usability is questionable.
Cosmetics: 33/40 - The card picture feels authentic, I could imagine some of the older Yu-Gi-Oh cards especially, having a picture like this, the name is straightforward and effective. It lacks true wow factor though.
OCG: 29/30 - again, very minor things such as an out of place 'the', great OCG overall.
Originality: 22/30 - The variation the ATK has contains originality, although the negating effect is far from inspired.

Overall: 262/300
Commiserations, Dragon Sage, Admiral Tim & Yurik the Red Mage.
Your cards were great, but they all were unforunately, here is a brief summary:
Dragon Sage

Balance: 89/100
Playability: 89/100
Cosmetics: 30/40
OCG: 30/30
Originality: 22/30

Overall: 260/300

Just missed the next round... I felt it was a very usable card. Quite balanced, with basically 2 lifelines which balance 2 tributes very well, however the ability insinuates you must use the attached monsters whenever battling forfeiting some of their worth. Futhermore, its destrutive ability makes it very playable, but with 2700 ATK, its effect perhaps isn't as duel-changing as many others since it will plough through most things anyway. The OCG seems to be perfect too. However the picture whilst fitting, isn't focused well and with an authentic but ambiguous name. Whilst the effect is useful in some scenarios, its isn't that creative.

Admiral Tim:

Balance: 93/100
Playability: 72/100
Cosmetics: 32/40
OCG: 25/30
Originality: 23/30

Overall: 245/300

Firstly, this is an epic effect with an apolcalpytic vibe. The balance is fine tuned painstakingly, so that you can either benefit majorly or forfeit highly. Even the all out destruction effect stops you from attacking on that turn, the drawback balancing well, but since it doesn't clear all of your opponents field as it doesnt destroy spells/traps, it might not quite be the 'End Game' you need. The Image is very cool and futuristic and the name fits well. Not hugely original but it has an interesting mixture of effects. The OCG was off here and there, but most of it was correct, just some capitalisation problems and phrases that were incorrectly worded. The only major issue with this card I felt was the playability. It is amazing in every other regard (more or less) but the risk factor after having to give 2 tributes makes it so hard to play, it therefore fails to give relibility to anyone other than a super lucky player.

Yurik the Red Mage:

Balance: 82/100
Playability: 84/100
Cosmetics: 27/40
OCG: 25/30
Originality: 21/30

Overall: 239/300

Nobody wants to be last, but somebody has to be, and your card was by no means bad. Visually the picture and name were ok, but the quality of the picture wasn't great. The effect was short and has been seen before, so not that original. In certain decks with the correct typing, this card could be very useful, it is usable in decks where psychic-type monsters are in abundance and even with a simple effect, can become a great beatstick. However, its power is precarious and unreliable, often making it usable in a late game scenario but otherwise a dead draw. It can be underpowered or perhaps to excessive in power, although the two extremes do balance each other out to a certain extent. The OCG wasn't amazing but most of the phrases were worded correctly and to be fair, the errors were fairly minor. Overall, a solid card.
That took me a while... :') anyway, glad its done. Requirement up soon. Well done to all, and congrats to the top 4!
