Alright. In my opinion, this has to be one of the best games of all time. Discuss the predecessor to Skyrim and Oblivion, and the successor to the Elder Scrolls 1 and 2.

Love it, my personal favorite ES game. <3

I agree. I actually brought the original Xbox version of morrowind a month before skyrim came out to hype myself up for it (its 360 compatible) and unlike most old games I come back to, despite the dated graphics, I still love it to pieces. I over-hyped myself for skyrim and got bored with it, Oblivion is amazing and is probably my most played game ever, but considering its year when it was made, Morrowind is so vast in comparison. The architecture is varied, countless factions and quests, great expansions. An amazing RPG. Only issue being the combat system, but that doesn't bother me much.

Also, those were the days when they bothered to put spears, crossbows and medium armor into their games. Plus Chitin Armor blatently should have been in oblivion and skyrim.

Chitin armour is made from Netches, iirc.
Netches or Silt Striders.

Wouldn't make sense to have em in Skyrim or Oblivion.

...well, they are in Skyrim. I think Falmer Armor is made from Chaurus.

Really? I thought Netch Leather was the only armor from Netches. I'm pretty sure that Chitin is made from insect shells glued together.

Either way, It had a cool design in my opinion.

I always thought skills leveled up at a fair rate but feel free to share the tips.

Well, alchemy for people just starting out would have a hard time getting it up. Enchanting also is a bit annoying to get up too. All the armors are super easy to get up so long as you have some kind of heal, be it potion of spell. Acrobats is the easiest over time skill to get up.

Anyways, for alchemy the best strategy if you have the time would be to talk with Ajira after joining the mages guild. She's in the basic starting area for most players. I.E. Balmora. So Anyways, when your in Balmora, talk with Ranis Athrys who is located just next to the door you come in from (First floor door). Ask to join and bam you'll be accepted. Now go to down the stairs to the bottom floor and in through the little room. There will be to people in the little room. Ajira will be the one behind the desk. Talk to her do her first quest, which if you knew what you were doing before hand, you'll have scavenged the necessary mushrooms form Seyda Neen before hand. Then after that quest do the next one, which is also pretty easy. Then the flower quest which is much like the mushroom quest. She already sells 2 of the flowers need to complete the quest :). Anyways, doing all of these quest is to get her Disposition high up, so yes that arn't a necessity to do but it help you out quite a bit.

Once all done, this is were the grinding begins, I know grinding isn't the best mechanic in the world but if you want high alchemy early on this is the way to do it (Note: you wont just get high alchemy from doing this). Go into her Dialog screen and go into Barter. Search for crab meat and buy all she has. Now go and sell back all the crab meat you just got. Exit out and go in again, buy all and exit out. Now heres the interesting thing, she now carries the combined amount of crab meat she originally had and that you sold back to her. Knowing that sell the crab meat you just got from her and just repeat. Now as her crab meat stock gets higher, start buying for lower and selling for higher. Yep thats right, this is also a good way to get your mercantile up. Once you'v gotten a decent amount of gold and crab meat, its time to eat all that crab meat. Which is easy, note though, your alchemy only goes up when the crab meat has an effect on you which is one other reason why alchemy is hard to get up if its low.

Welp, thats about it for getting alchemy up. This was a sizable post so I won't go any further. I know that this is a cheap trick but sometimes is just necessary.

What you Gain from this:

Alchemy Level of your choice

Gold

Undetermined Mercantile Level

Ajira becomes over encumbered
Note, any restock item can be increased, in other words, the increasing stock item trick will work on any merchant but only on an item that restocks.

I may try that =') Ajira must love mudcrabs...

I'm all to familiar with Balmora Mages Guild, I always collect the mushrooms and flowers (and sometimes the ceremic bowl) before I even enter on 1st playthroughs.

Also I'm guessing your aware of this, but on the 2nd mission (bet with Galedir) when you go upstairs while shes gone away, you can steal thousands of pounds worth of gems and platter from her desk before planting the soul gem.

Oh yeah, I'm more then aware of that perk :D

Another way to level up is to make a spell that boosts a skill of a Skill trainer by 100 points (Doesn't have to be permanent). You'll need alot of cash but you can literally buy your way to 100 in any skill. I don't really like this method though.

Tbh, the best part about the game is that when you drop an item it stays glued to that spot. Makes decorating a house just so amazing.

God... I loved my house so much.

Yeah thats fun to do except when you want to put something on a high shelf in a particalar way and you dont have a very good acrobatic skill or levitation.

So whats everyone's favorite armor set? I'd half to say glass wins for me.

Yeah... Morrowind was a great game... I miss the many item choices.

And I miss running around on the buildings with shuriken xD Made me feel like a ninja.

I feel like Oblivion was good, but in comparison to Morrowind or Skyrim it falls short of the mark. There just wasn't enough stuff to do, and once the faction and main plot quests were over, it got pretty dull. Overall, i guess I feel like Oblivion was a pretty poor successor to Morrowind.

As great as it is though, I wanna say Skyrim is better. Yes, it's got a significantly lower item selection, however, each quest, whether faction, main plot, sub plot, or just a time filler, it all seems to flow and intertwine with each other quite well, whilst simultaneously allowing many choices for you to make and build off your character. Give them a sort of personality and backround supposedly. If you're like me, you like for characters to have more of a story, even if unspoken or out of the game.

Morrowind had kinda the same values as Skyrim does, but to a lesser extent. Although it had a great deal more quests than Oblivion, it seemed like each one would tell a completely different story, same as Oblivion did.

As for the lack of medium armor, I didn't so much mind the removal of this,as in the real world of armor, you wear either light easy mobility stuff or thick heavy impenetrable stuff.

The removal of spears and crossbows was a step backwards though. As we know from Bethesda's other hit game series Fallout, a wide weapon selection is more entertaining than the same hack and slash bullcrap. I mean I get time constraints and graphic enhancements, but I doubt any of us would've minded slightly inferior graphics if we could spear bandits, or put a well thrown knife in a falmers chest.

However, I noticed that the number of enchanted items and weapons is significantly higher in both Oblivion and Skyrim, given that the common bandits often carry a flame mace or battle axe of cold. I'm still not sure if I like or dislike this though, as it adds to the challenge of battle, but also takes away the special feeling of having a magic item.

So I guess in conclusion, I feel like the game in many ways gave the ideas for future game creators to expand and build off of, but in itself still needed improvements and touch ups.

Now, we need Bethesda to make an Elder Scrolls where a friend can join you in the adventure xD Anyone?

So, whats everyones typical strategy for Seyda Neen?

Edit: If anyone want me to put up my "The Dos and Don'ts of Being Godly in Morrowind" I'm more then happy to put one up. I have a much experience in this field of play.

I can play Morrowind pro without going godly. I just want to make that clear.
