Then find out about it, what does it do well? How is it played? What does it lose to? How can that be overcome? Then once you understand that, pick up the basics of the deck. The build it. Post it. lightswornGENEX Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Share Posted February 23, 2012 the side deck are just cards i came across when i started my research of cards this morning that i thought might help make the deck better. for this deck, my typical approach for is as follows most of the time. shield wing and penguin soldier for defense. sangan and danylion since they're good staples. using summoner monk to synchro summon a bit more quickly with mostly level 7 and 8 synchro monsters, which is why a larger majority have been restricted to level 4 monster for ease and conveniance to prevent "situational" troubles.... so practically all my synchro summoning will either be 2 level 4 monsters, 1 level 4 and 1 level 3 or 1 level 4 and 2 level 2 monsters. my most important card would be red-eyes darkness metal dragon so i can bring back or summon strong dragons to the field. prime material dragon 's 2nd effect serves as a "stardust dragon" for my monsters. lightpulsar dragon is just for offense and bringing back red-eyes from the grave. jinzo is just there for trap prevention and is a good offense card as well with royal decree being it's backup or vice versa, which is why i purposely limited my number of trap cards to prevent dead draw worst case scenerios that might happen. for my spells, most are the usual staples i need. soul exchange may seem odd since it's a really old card, but i enjoy using it when i target an opponents synchro or other strong monster...it also bypasses thor and odin's "resurrecting" effects which is great, in my opinion.( though i haven't actually done that yet since i haven't faced a nordic dueler in a while to be able to enjoy that..."pleasant experience" ) for my synchros...stardust dragon, scrap dragon, and crimson blader are the ones i typically use the most, so i usually try and summon them 1st. i guess my "focus" would be dragon and lockdown at the same time, but i sometimes don't get the chance to lock both their spells and traps since i just beat them before that just by attacking with my monsters. as for weaknesses......if they're able to summon choas sorcerer or black luster soldier-envoy of the begining fast enough when i don't draw a lightning vortex or destroy them by battle, then i might be in trouble. in addition, burn, mill, and exodia...although to a lesser extent and every deck suffers from those 3 anyways banishing and milling would most likely be good enough to beat this IF used effectively enough, although i haven't come across such situations yet, so i don't really know. [b]EDIT:[/b] just dueled someone using a macro cosmos and sould absorption deck... my scrap dragon and red-eyes darkness metal dragon got banished they managed to get rid of both my jinzo and royal decree with dd warrior lady and heavy storm, respectively. So there's some evidence to prove that banishing is a good counter against this, but i don't think 1 duel yields sufficient data... they also used caius the shadow monarch, banisher of the radiance, soul release, dd asaillant, and banisher of the light.
