Seth and Rowtel sat under a tree, listening to the wind. Seth heard the roar of a of a dragon as it passed overhead. "It's too bad you can't fly, it looks like a lot of fun." he commented to Rowtel. She flapped her flightless wings defensively. Seth laughed as he lay on his back in the cool grass. He decided to relax a bit before his obligation to the army came calling after him.

---"Checkmate!!!" Sario suddenly yelled, as he slammed the knight piece down onto the chess board, then looked malevolently at his freshly defeated opponent. "I win again. How about you try again, I'm sure you'll get me next time."

---"No way, that was the 5th game in a row that you beat me, and plus we should be doing something else, like our job right now..." His opponent exclaimed, quite fearfully.

---"Alright, fine. Let's go.. INO!!! TIME TO GO!!!" He called out, and a teenage-sized female blue dragon came to him, and walked beside him. "Another opponent defeated, I wonder if there will be anyone to ever defeat me." He said as he and his dragon marched outside of the barracks...

---Sario was the only one in Naahg to have a blue dragon, he thought of it as a priviledge to have this particular blue dragon, for it saved his life when he was really young. Others thought of it as horrid to be seen with a blue dragon, Naahg is built for the mighty black dragon.

---Sario walked through the Fyrion Forest, then stopped at his usual sopt to lay down and rest his eyes, his dragon provided him his scaly pillow as she also laid to sleep.

[OOC: Since we are in the military, I assume we will have to wait until you assign missions to us and / or post story-related info before we do anything important, yes?]

Her long blonde hair and black cloak flapping at the strong wind, the female warrior, her claymore strapped along her back, pressed on, ignoring the pressure that threatened to knock her off the narrow mountain pass she was crossing. Despite her physical struggle, no expression was to be seen on her icy calm face, where a soft, barely noticeable smile had formed.

The fragile peace between the three nations was still holding, so the Naagh military was forced to often send their soldiers in dangerous training expeditions like this to keep them in top form, should the need arise.

Observing from atop a nearby mountain, his emerald eyes locked on the miniscule human form, Isley watched Teresa climb the steep slopes, his mind absorbed in thoughts noone could hope to guess.

Daigali slowly walked down the highly adorned halls of the Queens castle diligently reading his book of spells. "Hmm, Doisosar Comi Rhiem . No thats not it..." he said when he suddenly heard the cry of his dragon Somigolio outside near the castle wall. "Ah Somigolio has returned from her patrol of the city." Daigali said as he walked out towards the castle wall. Outside was a large Blue dragon patiently waiting for Daigali. "Sailitos Riez Thieum!", Daigali chanted as purple letters floated out of his book and swirled around him. "Report your findings Somigolio." Daigali said. "Yes Sir! The castles perimeter is secure and nothing interesting to report around the city." said Somligolio. Daigali had learned the spell to understand his dragon when he was 18 in hopes of better connecting with his fellow comrade and since then they have become closer.

"Very good Somigolio! You may rest for now. I will call for you if i need you." he said as he turned back around towards the Castle. "I must report to the Queen." Daigali said as he walked towards the throne room. He soon arrived and slowly opened the doors. He walked into and knelt in front of the Queen sitting on her throne. "My Queen your humble Captain Daigali kneels before you. The patrol of the city is finished and there in nothing new to report at this time." said Daigali.

Alessandra bit her lip. Hard. The pain helped her think, for some reason.

She'd been considering the course of action for some time now, but it hadn't seemed practical, or terribly fair: morale would drop considerably, and the amount of resources required for the operation were immense. If one of the other kingdoms blamed Naahg for its troubles, or a rebellion ensued, the death toll would be immense. Naahg was barely a world power anyway, and any further population drops would be inviting Irut or Ank to invade.

But now that she'd properly analyzed the situation, it was necessary. Deaths were starting between Irut and Ank, and apathetic though she was, the queen wasn't heartless. The cataclysm caused by total war would result in total devastation of Knaturighaan. Possibly, the survivors could lose touch with the Spirits, or maybe those who could communicate with the Spirits would perish. Loss of the Spirits would turn Knaturighaan into a lifeless wreck.

She let out a strange, melodious whistle. Azræl thundered through the open window almost immediately.

"It's time?" the dragon king demanded grimly of his companion.

"Seems like it," Alessandra said darkly. "There are no alternatives. Obtain as many messengers as possible and issue a total recall of all draconic soldiers, and I'll do the same with humans."

"And then we contact the Spirits," Azræl finished ominously. "Let's get to work."

"See you later," the queen muttered sadly, stroking her lover's neck before darting out of her chambers, to the throne room.

--

"Captain, how many times need I tell you not to be so formal?" Alessandra sighed resignedly as Captain Daigali finished his report. "But I can't pretend your report isn't good news. We need as many of our fastest messengers in the air. They are to reach as many soldiers as possible and spread the word of a total recall of all Naahg forces. Every living soul that serves Naahg must be in the city. Oh," she added, "and I'll need Bisho no Teresa here as soon as possible. One might say I have need of a private conversation with her."

Sario and Ino, the dragon, woke up alittle aggitated, they were woken by a messager.

-"The majesty has told me to inform you that she requests your presence in the throne room, Captain Sario." The messager told Sario, and Sario nodded...still aggitated by the fact that he was still tired and hungry.

-"I'll be there, which company are you in soldier. I can see you don't usually gives messages to other people." Sario took notice to the soldier's rank-badge.

-"I'm part of your company now sir, I'm a new recruit, this is my first job and might I add it's nice to meet you sir." The soldier added, and saluted.

-"Yes yes...well, I have a special task for you, go back to the base 110, and tell the Sargent I left in cammand there that I'll be awhile, can you do that for me?" He requested politely, he knew that to get respect from his company, he needed to show kindness to them and respect of his own.

-"Yes sir, I will sir, I'll tell him sir.." he saluted.

-"That's good enough soldier, just tell the Sarge I sent you personally, he'll believe you." and he walked in the direction of the palace. But when he reached the throne room door, he had to wait outside. He scowled because he did not like waiting on the queen, but, he remembered to keep his silence.

"Sword?"

"Check."

"Shield?"

"Check."

"Underwear?"

"Ch-...no wait! Oh damn! I forgot to get underwear!"

"Don't worry, Vilias. I remember you putting on underwear earlier."

"Don't do that, Kaelthas. That's not right."

"Yes, master." The dragon chuckled as she watched her master pace about. Vilias de la Hiro walked around looking for anything else he needed before he left his home: a large castle situated on a cliff high above the sea. His parents were one of the richest families in the nation. His dragon, Kaelthas, scrathed her wing as she continued to watch her master pace about.

"Is that it?" Vilias asked Kaelthas.

"I'm not sure. It's all up to you," she responded. Vilias walked over to a large mirror situated on the east wall of his very large bedroom. His bedroom was large enough to hold two humans and two dragons. Vilias looked in the mirror. He first examined his crimson red eyes, then tussled his red-brown hair to check if there was anything in it. He fixed his red vest and rolled the sleeves up on his wwhite dress shirt underneath. He patted down his black pants and dusted off his red shoes. As he walked back over to Kaelthas, he grabbed a backpack that contained a few medical supplies. Some for humans, some for dragons.

"Ready?" Vilias asked.

"Sure. Where is our destination, master?" Kaelthas asked slowly.

"Don't call me master. It makes me feel old. Just call me by my name, Vilias. It's okay. I told you that when I first met you five years ago," Vilias said.

"You were only ten when I met you," Kaelthas said in her regular tone of voice.

"Yea. Well we should be heading out now," Vilias said.

"But your parents told you to stay in the house after dark," Kaelthas said in her sassiest voice.

"They're not my parents. I was adopted by them after my real parents left me here. Don't ever say they are my parents, okay?" Vilias snapped.

"I am sorry, master," Kaelthas sobbed quietly.

"It's okay. I shouldn't have yelled at you," Vilias said in a soothing voice as he petted her head. "We should be going now."

"Where?"

"City Hall. I heard in school today that there is this meeting going on about this new nation that just rose. I wanna find out what it is," Vilias said.

"Eavesdropping and sneaking out. You are going to be in so much trouble," Kaelthas snickered.

"Whatever. Let's just get out of here before my 'parents' get home," Vilias said. He mounted Kaelthas and walked her over to the large open window. He patted her side and she opened her wings and let out a loud roar. Her white scales glistened in the bright moonlight as she flew out of the window and dived towards the sea. Just before she went through the water, Kaelthas opened her wings and rose high into the night sky. Vilias and Kaelthas were headed towards City Hall, in complete disregard to Vilias' parent's demands.

"Yes your Majesty." said Daigali as he rose up from the floor to his feet. "I will send out the command immediately and get the people inside the city." Daigali saluted the queen then turned around and walked out of the throne room. He continued to walk through the castle halls until he reached the castle walls outside. Outside at the castle gate Daigali found his dragon Somigolio resting peacefully. "Rise and shine my friend! We have work to do!" he said as Somigolio slowly woke up.

"What is it Daigali? Does the Queen need something from us?" asked Somigolio. "Yes she does. I need you to take this message to the main wall and give it to the gate captain. It has specific orders from me involving the closing of the gate. Can you do that for me?" Daigali asked as he pulled out a rolled of piece of paper sealed with Daigalis symbol. "Of course i can Daigali! I will fly as fast as i can!" she said as she grabbed the paper and quickly flew away towards the outside gate.

"Now thats being taken care of I will get the word out to the people. Soldier! Front and Center!" said Daigali as one of the gate guards walked in front of Daigali and saluted. "Yes sir Captain Daigali! What is that you need from me?" the Guard said. "I need you to gather a group of men no more than 15 and spread the word that all Nhaag citizens are to report inside the city walls and no one may leave without either mine or the queens permission no Exceptions!. And I want that done as fast as possible soldier! Do i make myself clear?" said Daigali. "Sir Yes Sir!" replied the guard. "Good! Then move out!" said the captain as the guard saluted and ran off to the guard quarters.

-"Say, Ino...After this meeting, what do you think we should do...?" Sario cusiously asked his dragon.

-"I think we should do as we're directed, or we might get in trouble." His dragon spoke to him telepathicly.

-"Eh...That's no fun at all, but I suppose your right, I have a clean record right now. I just wanted to start a conversation sense I'm pretty bored right now. Your no fun at all." Sario complained, jokingly.

-"Well, can I go back to sleep? We'll probably be here for awhile." His dragon responded.

-"Sure whatever, I guess I should sleep too. I wander what's keeping her bus..."

-"Captain Sario, Queen Allessandra wishes to speak with you now.." The guard said.

-"So much for sleeping, well I'll be right out Ino...Just...do what your doing now..." Sario answered...and he walked into the throne room. Looking around, because he was the type of person to do that, always occupied with something random. "You wanted to see me ma'am?"

The blue flames went out, and the spectral figure evaporated. The queen and king stared at each other, mortified, until they were interrupted by a very loud knock on the door.

"Who'll that be...?" Azræl wondered aloud.

It turned out to be the renowned Captain Sario Ojima. That was good news for Alessandra.

She addressed him: "Excellent. We had need of you especially. Azræl and I are planning an operation of immense scale that could avert the war, but interference by either of the other nations would jeopardize the operation beyond repair.

"We will need to learn of foreign opinions of Naahg. We are therefore sending you to Irut, where you will, somehow, discover their opinions of us and what they plan to do with us. You are also to locate any potential threats. How you plan to do this is up to you. Your company ought to be reporting here soon; I've issued a total recall of all Naahg citizens.

"A town meeting will be held at Klathkoln in about a week's time regarding us. Being able to listen in on it, somehow, will be imperative to your mission, and could comprise the whole of it. I recommend flying as soon as possible. Understood?"

Vilias and Kaelthas arrived at Klathkoln at 6:00 pm. There were many people filing into the large building, all of them appeared to be of royal descent. Vilias tried as hard as he could to stay hidden from everyone. He looked out the corner of the building and recognized his adoptive parents going into the building. They stopped to chat witha younger man.

"Sir Aaron and Madam Sicily Foisa. How wonderful of you to come to tonight's meeting," the man said.

"Sir Frederick. It is a pleasure to be here attending the meeting about the foreign relationships with the new nation Naahg. We left our son at home where he is safe. Sicily felt that he should attend, but I said that these are adult matters. He is only 15, you know," Sir Aaron mentioned.

"Yes, I do know. Please step inside," Sir Frederick said.

"With pleasure," Madam Sicily said.

"So...the nation is called Naahg. I better go get Shaun. He knows all of the info about these meetings," Vilias whispered to Kaelthas.

"So we're flying again? I just landed. Couldn't we wait?" Kaelthas pleaded.

"No. We have to see him tonight. Otherwise, he might not tell us," Vilias told her.

"Okay. Hop on." Kaelthas rose into the air and flew south; the opposite direction they flew. About ten minutes later, they arrived at Shaun's cottage.

"Hey Shaun! It's Vilias! I have something to ask you!" Vilias yelled.

"Hey! Shutup man! My little sister is tryin' to get some shuteye up here. Why don't you just come in. Leave Kaelthas with Usedas in the stable," Shaun said from and unstairs window.

"You heard him. Go with Usedas," Vilias said.

"Agreed," Kaelthas said in an assuring voice. Vilias walked into Shaun's cottage and sat down on a couch.

"What do you want?" Shaun asked as he walked downstairs.

"I heard that there was this meeting about this new nation called Naahg. I was wondering what it was all about," Vilias explained.

"Oh yea! I remember that. My folks were talking about it before they left. Apparently, Naahg recently rose after the takeover of a very small town. It rose quickly too. The queen of Naahg plans on establishing foreign relationships with either Irut or Ank. We, Irut, plan on trying to convince Naahg into establishing foreign relationships with us so that we may increase our financial input and take over Ank. That's what I heard," Shaun explained quietly.

"So...we are trying to get Naahg on our side to take over Ank? Didn't we used to have good relationships with Ank?" Vilias asked.

"We did until the rise of Naahg. That changed everything."

"Thanks. I could use this. I'm going to go to Naahg and try to convince the queen."

"Be careful. I hear Naahg uses black dragons. They are very vicous."

"I don't plan on leaving today. In about a month or so's time. I need to train. How far away is Naahg?"

"Far. Very Far. About 9,443 miles away. It will take about a month to get there if you fly the way the crow flies, but you can't go that way because you have to go underground because the mountains reach higher than any dragon can fly. You better get going. I do think the meeting is almost over."

"Okay. THanks for the info, Shaun. See ya tomorrow at school." Vilias left Shaun's cottage and went for Kaelthas. "Say goodbye."

"I will see you soon, Usedas," Kaelthas said.

"Likewise," Usedas responded in her voice. Vilias mounted Kaelthas and flew back towards his home. He had to train if he were to fly to Naahg.

The next day, Sario was preparing his leave, he had ordered his troops to follow every cammand his Sargent would give them, which everything was recorded on a schedule for what each soldier should do every day. He sat on his bed, his hands covering his face, and he thought long and hard on his parents.

-"Sario, you shouldn't fret over them, they gave their lives to save you, to keep you safe, don't worry. I'm sure they're in a good place." His dragon gave him comfort, she was the closest thing he had to a friend, and a very good friend she was too.

-"Your right, we should get going. I don't want to piss off our superior now." Sario responded, alittle cheerfully. And he headed out the door and towards the gate.

-"I will be back as soon as I can, just remember the shedule, as long as they follow that, everything should run smoothly." He finished towards his Sargent. The Sargent nodded and saluted, and walked off. "Ready to go Ino?"

-"Of course I am, question is. Are you ready?" His dragon asnwered with her own quizmatic tone.

-"Yeah....I am" He said to himself. He did not like leaving his home. But he climbed on the top of his dragon's back and they flew towards their destination. Sario immediately went to sleep on is dragon's back.

-"Figures you would sleep. Well, hope you have a good sleep, because this'll be bumpy." His dragon half said to herself, thinking that Sario wasn't listening. One hint from a non-response from Sario told her he was already fast asleep.

The two shock troopers guarding the palace gates gave way once Teresa approached - out of respect for the skilled warrior, but Teresa also had a rather notorious reputation. However, for her, they might as well not have existed - the female entered the palace halls fully armed and armored, casually striding through the massive hallways with an air of certainty and purpose.

She had received the summons upon returning to camp, and as always, she was quick and efficient to comply. Unlike others, Teresa did not unneccessarily bring her dragon everywhere she went, and that worked fine for Isley as well. So, Teresa had entered the citadel by herself, and after a short ways on horseback, she entered the palace grounds.

"What would the Queen need of me?" One might have wondered in her place, but not Bisho no Teresa. Her face was unreadable, her unchanging expression betraying nothing beneath that soft smile that could even be perceived as arrogant by those who didn't know her. The smile didn't fade even as she, silent as a predator, stood before the Queen's door. After briefly knocking, she entered the chamber.

"You asked to see me, my Queen?" She asked, but neither words nor gesture showed any particular amount of respect - loyal she may have been, but expressing sentiments like that was impossible for Teresa.

Alessandra showed no emotion either as she watched Teresa enter. "Yes. See, Azræl and I have need of a certain... unique talent... that, whether you know it or not, exemplifies itself in you. I'm assuming you've never heard of the Spirits?"

Ino nudged Sario's body to wake him up, which worked pretty well. He was still alittle sleepy though, they touched down infront of the city gates, and he climbed off of his dragon.

-"That wasn't as bumpy as last time Ino."

-"Would you rather it be?"

-"hehe, No, thanks."

-"May I help you, sir?" Asked the guard as Sario and Ino came to the gate.

-"Well, for starters, what do I need to enter."

-"Nothing, you two just seem like strangers, just making sure you don't need anything to blend in."

-"I'm pretty sure we don't, but thank you so much for the offer. You know, in Artarius, you don't get that kind of kindness." Sario began, but was stopped.

-"Just go on through, but if you see any Naahg refugees, pls do us a favor and report to the guards. You'd know if they are of Naahg from their dragon colors." The guard warned.

-"Will do.." Sario finished and he walked off into the city, and the first place he went to was a tavern, not to get anything to drink, but to start a conversation with someone and find a commoner's opinions on Naahg.

Daigali felt a ominous wind blow through the castle gate as the two gate guards slowly closed the large wooden gate. "Hmm a dark wind is beginning to howl...I must see the Queen, something sinister is going to afoot." said Daigali as he walked into the castles main hall. He soon reached the throne room and slowly entered.

Inside the throne room the Queen was talking to Teresa. Daigali slowly approached his beloved queen and knelled before her. "Forgive the intrusion my queen but your order is being carried out as we speak. No one inside the city will leave without yours or mine orders." he said respectfully to the queen.

-"Well, I better be going, sorry gentileman, but I must head for the plaza." Sario finished talking to some local townspeople, and started heading out the door where his dragon sat waiting for him. She got up rather quickly when she saw him come out. "What's wrong?" He had to ask.

-"We may need to leave earlier than expected." His dragon replied, urgently.

-"Why, what happened?"

-"This place doesn't smell right, and the atmosphere isn't really that confortable either."

-"Your right, something is wrong, but we have our orders, and we must carry them out. Don't worry, we'll be fine." But he wished he as sure as he wanted to be, he didn't really have any luck, and he felt as if something big was going to happen, and very soon.

Though she did mildly appreciate the surprising alacrity of her numerous subjects, Alessandra wasn't exactly pleased about the interruption, either.

"Understood," she said vaguely, understanding the necessity of being alone. "Let me know when you're done.

"Back on topic," she continued after Daigali left the throne room, "the Spirits. Asexual, apathetic beings of great power that watch over this world, and determine the personality of all that inhabit it. They're responsible for the bonds between humans and dragons, or so they claim."

"The Spirits." Teresa said, her expression as neutral as always.

"I see." She added, once the Queen was finished with her explanation. However, she said nothing more, instead waiting for her conversation partner to get to the point she wished at her own pace.

==================================================================

Slightly lifting his giant head, the enormous black dragon, once considered one of the greatest, now degraded to being the humble assistant of a mere human, Isley, sniffed as if trying to identify a scent in the wind.

Having lived much, by human and dragon standards, the brilliant warlord had a knack for comprehending what the times would bring in advance.

And such turmoil, he had not sensed in a while... then again, he was getting old... but better safe than sorry.

More specifically, better safe than dead.

After a weeks pass, Sario mnaged to find a way to sneek into the council meeting he was assigned to be. Though in his disguise, he was sort of uncomfortable, though he didn't show it. If he did he would have been caught easily. His dragon had to wait at the temporary hotel room he was staying at.

The room started to fill with sargents, captains, and generals. He could tell from their badges...This is a military meeting...he thought to himself...Things like this usually mean a war.

-"All hands, welcome to the militarial council." Addressed the prompter, who was clearly the Lord thanks to his badge.

-"As you would have guessed, the Naahg are infact trying to move their location, and to this place." He pointed at a lake rep on a giant map. "The Dark Lake, Artarius."

-"Our entire civilization depends on that lake's minerals and resourced to survive." He continued. "I say we reinforce that stronghold. Keep about 100 men here and take the rest to Artarius. And dispite the fact that this is an act of war, it is the only way to keep this kingdom alive."

Sario heard enough of this, he had gotten the information needed. He started to walk outside. Then he turned towards the hotel to pick Ino up, so they could go home. But on the way he was stopped by 5 foreign soldiers. He had never seen soldiers with the color before, they were dressed in red robes and 3 of them held longbows and were standing on the rooftops pointing their bows at him. The other two held some swords in their shieths.

-"Who goes there?" Asked the first swordsman.

-"Just a traveler."

-"From where?"

-"I have no kingdom."

-"Yea, that's what they all say, FIRE!!!" And as he barked the cammand the 3 archers above shot a volley of arrows down at Sario, he dodged almost successfully, but one managed to impale his left shoulder, he was down in an instant. Blood ran freely down his wound. And the both swordsmen aimed their swords at his neck. And at the same time, they both were impaled by 2 arrows, and Sario blurrily saw the 3 archers fall as well, all 3 had arrows in their heads. An Irut guard was helping Sario to his feet. but Ino, Sario's dragon came in time as she had heard the commotion, she swept off the guard and lifted Sario onto her back with her mouth, and lifted off all in 5 second's time. She flew in the direction of home. And Sario, his wound bleeding even more freely, was dazed and finally passed out from the blood loss.

Seth rode Rowtel into the town of Klathkoln. He had received his orders, Irut was on the move. He slipped easily into the meeting, leaving Rowtel outside.

"Hey, are you supposed to be in here?" asked a well dressed soldier.

"My good Lieutenaut, would your excellent guards have let me in if I were not?" Seth replied.

"Where do you come from? I certainly havent seen you around much."

"I am i wanderer, i am afraid. Anywhere i go i come from."

Then the head Lord spoke up. While he spoke, there was a commotion caused be some agent outside, appearing to hail from another kingdom, but Seth was unsure of which.

He decided to leave before he might be discovered also.

Seth mounted Rowtel, running back to report to the Crown. Klathkoln, would be in a weakened position while they tried to guard another township. This would be an excellent opportunity.

Seth reached Castle Dontathal and knocked on the door to the throne room.

Ino landed infront of the Naahg gates, the first to come out was Yuviou, Sario's stalker-like friend. She sprinted out to greet him, but only when she saw his condition did she stop and asked if she could help in anyway. Ino diclined the generous offer, and insisted that Yuviou tell the queen immediately. So Yuviou ran to the queen in such a hurry that not even a dragon could keep up with her. While Ino took Sario to the hospitol.

Yuviou bursted into the throne room.

-"My Queen, I'm extremely sorry to intrude, but I have very urgent news about Captain Sario, he's back, but in very serious condition, and I don't know what to do and.."She broke off, the queen silenced her at once, Yuviou was speaking so fast and she was was in alot of stress. Tears ran rapidly down her face.

Once the arrow had been taken out, very carefully that is. Sario's wound bled alot more. His wound was immediately bandaged, the arrow kept on a table for further study for what kingdom it belonged to.

Sario lay in the hospitol bed, and slept, the doctors gave him an anethesia so he may rest more peacefully.

"This meeting is becoming very fragmented," Alessandra commented impassively as the throne room cleared again, leaving only her and Teresa. "These Spirits hate emotions, and the entryway to their realm is barred to any who feel it. Therefore, the only sentients who can contact them are apaths. Under normal circumstances, Azræl and I are able to speak with them, but in light of recent events, our underlying emotions are being brought out more and more often... we're losing contact with them.

"That's why we need you... to be able to contact the Spirits."
