Yeah, Palir has a pretty complicated backstory that will probably be revealed a bit more during a duel where he uses his Numbers.

I'm fairly certain that it's the other way around; otherwise 'gynoid' wouldn't make much sense.

How did we get into this discussion...?

Hello. Might you still be accepting characters for this role-play? Just in case you are, I'll be posting a character here. Also should I post certain custom cards in the profile here, or when those cards are played? I'll not use said customs if asked not to on a duel by duel basis.

[spoiler=James]

Name: James Verne

Gender: Male

Age: 22

Duelist Type: Normal Duelist

Appearance: James is a rather ordinary looking man; nothing extraordinary such as multicolored hair, disfigurements, or glowing tattoos that act as proof of possession. His hair brown is neatly trimmed and parted to the side. Face has an oval shape to it, though from certain distances looks more circular. Sharp nose and jaw on a clean shaven face. Blue-gray eyes behind square rimmed glasses.

James often wears a button shirt with tie and pressed black dress pants. This looks hides the rather eccentric personality of this dueling engineer. On certain moods James may dress more casually, usually a simple t-shirt branded with a generic science fiction item; his favorite of these shirts is one with a bar of music with five very special notes from a song by John Williams. With that shirt will usually be a pair of jeans.

James' D-Gazer is an older model, one that actually is a pair of glasses rather than the single eye piece that is used today. It is very much considered obsolete due to the lower resolution of graphics it possesses. His duel disk is actually reminiscent of those mass produced for the battle city tournament way back in the day. It is not an original one, but a duel disk that James made himself.

Personality: A rather quiet guy outside of a duel. He normally says little, but smiles and nods quite a lot while he is in a conversation. He is one of those that would rather listen than talk. Though that is more out of lack of significant knowledge about certain topics, so he chooses to listen and learn instead of talk about them.

James is one of those book smart people rather than street smart. He can sometimes get tricked or manipulated, and by particularly charismatic people it can be a relatively easy task. To get found out that he was manipulated makes him rather confused for a while and hesitant to listen to said person again...unless he/she trick him into thinking that he was tricked by the people that claimed he/she was tricking him that was indeed being tricked.

That disadvantage comes as quite an advantage for him, since he has quite a bit of know how to do almost anything mechanical or electrical. Broken D-Gazer or Duel Disk? No problem, he'll have it fixed in a jiffy.

Speaking of jiffy, he uses a few other unique words such as 'okie dokie,' 'hunky dory,' and 'yeppers.' James does enjoy a joke now and then, though due to knowing so few, and not very good with jokes to begin with, they tend to get as old as his speak real quickly.

As a duelist he can be rather eccentric, calling his monsters 'beautiful,' 'wonderful,' 'almighty,' and other english adjectives. The most unique case of this is when he summons "The Invincible Skull Servant!" And yes he is talking about the normal monster.

Background: James is an American sent to the WDC to represent his company as a dueling advertisement. He works for a global manufacture of computers that wishes to be put on the map. He is one of the best duelists in that company (though the fact that he's one of the few in the company to speak the local language used in heartland probably didn't affect him being the choice), as well as a top notch troubleshooter. You see when a certain employee causes too much trouble, James takes them out into the middle of the lake with some rope and a rock. At least that is the joke he makes; see not very good at jokes. Truth is he checks circuit boards for any problems, and fixes them accordingly.

Now at the WDC he is ready to take names and politely ask for a duel.

Deck Type(s): Each represents a branch of science fiction: Skull Servants (contains customs; represents fantasy), Aliens (no customs; represents space), Verz (no customs; represents infection) and Psychics (no customs; represents unique evolution)

Number(s) in Your Possession: None. He is not even aware of their existence.

Welcome, hope you like it here. As for you question, you can use custom cards, but at the bottom of the post where you use them, list the effect of the custom cards you used, along with Type, Attribute, Level and ATK/DEF if it's a monster or Spell/Trap card Type if it is a S/T card.

So far there has only been one case of a number speaking to a holder, where a former number holder took control of his opponent's number with a card effect. The number tried to possess said character, but the character resisted and the number disintegrated like the final bosses from Final Fantasy. There has been another number 96, which was actually able to manifest itself and talk, though his actions remind me much of Bakura/Zorc in how he did so, using an avatar/host instead of his monster form. So far no other number has spoken, and only 39: Utopia had shown itself as benevolent, with all others being rather malevolent. So seems more like special cases to me.
