One thing I have yet to mention is that my musical vocabulary isn't the best since I don't really play any instrument, let alone read musical notes. The best I can make with music is by using my voice, and even then, it's not great. I like to think I have an okay voice though. Still, I love music, and it has made me want to keep learning.

Enough with me rambling. The reason I bring up my knowledge of the musical world is that sometimes, I find it hard to describe the vgm I'm posting or say why I like it. There are some vgm that are so amazing that I am left speechless. I almost say this is the case for the music in the Gusty Garden Galaxy. I might also add that the music in Super Mario Galaxy is marvelous overall. I actually considered making a whole station for the Mario series.

So about Gusty Garden Galaxy. It's simply beautiful. It fits the whole magic of Super Mario Galaxy; the adventure, the wonders, and the beauty. It just sets that mood that you're in this enchanted world where everything is happy and glorious. It's one of those music that makes you wish your life has background music like this. Again, simply beautiful.

Pokemon music has always been great, from the very first game to Black and White. Generation V has truly outdone themselves, and you sure can say that more Black and White vgm are to come. Anyways, this beautiful piece was the first video game music I thought of when I decided to open up the VGM Jukebox with something from Pokemon. It's so beautiful, in fact, that I bet enough to put a tear in a long time Pokemon fan. I always thought that music had a large effect on anything, especially in video games. This song perfectly displays this idea through the emotions it brings out. It makes the story that is often ridiculed for being unimportant in the Pokemon games and makes it memorable.

In the future, I can bet you kids today that played Black and White will stumble upon this beauty and spew out nostalgic tears of happiness. As corny as that sounds, it's true. I could go on and on more about his and how this shows the art in video games, but I'll just let you listen for yourself.

While this game is kinda new and hardly anyone knows about it because its overshadowed by overrated series such as zelda, mario etc etc. It has an amazing soundtrack, full of emotion, considering that the track above the end roll theme it add that special sentiment of relief that the battle is over and you can finally rest.

Fi's Farewell from The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Ok, so why wouldn't this be sad? Skyward Sword was a phenomenal game, and the ending was just so emotional. People argue that Fi had no personality and that she had the worst case of being Captain Obvious. However, it really wasn't her fault, since she was created for one linear direction: To aid her master on the quest to defeat the ultimate evil. After Link defeats Demise, Fi's purpose was completed, and she fell into eternal sleep. However, it wasn't before she said some things in where she jerked some tears out of players. She said that the time she spent with Link was wonderful, and she felt the feeling of happiness, something that she wasn't programed to ever experience. Her final words "I hope we can meet in another life" were the last words that were ever said in her existence in the timeline. The song just fits just that emotion. The music opens up with a beautiful piano rendition of her song, then goes into the woodwinds of her theme. Every experience Link had with Fi until the end if reflected here. Fi has filled her purpose. Even though the Master Sword exists to destroy evil, Fi was only conscious to defeat Demise once and for all. Not being able to see the changes around the world because you are eternally asleep is a fate worse than death. It is even worse if you add the fact that Fi was beginning to learn to feel. It is honestly quite sad, and is the reason that it belongs here.

At the time of this post, the composer who made this song is not yet known. It still doesn't matter, because the Main Theme is just so amazing. I'm probably spoiling the music on myself, but this is seriously some epic music; music that Motoi Sakuraba makes (I'm a Sakuraba fanboy ok?). It really gives the feeling that you are about to go back into ancient skies to go onto an epic journey to defeat evil. It sounds somewhat like Tales of Symphonia's opening, but that only adds to the quality of the music. The orchestra is just so nice while the transition into the dreamy state then going into the hard orchestra just pulls me in. It is just such an amazing theme to a game that I am heavily anticipating to be one of the best games of the year.

I love all the parts of this song; the mysterious beginning, the awesome violin, the jazzy piano, the instruments that I can't name (the accordian?), and the epic ending! What's weird is that I can actually imagine myself dancing to this song. This song makes me want to learn all those instruments and play all these parts. It's one of those songs that makes your hands play an imaginary piano. I also feel that it doesn't sound like VGM. It sounds like an actual song that an actual band would play. If you played this song to someone who doesn't know it's from a video game, they wouldn't even think of video games when they hear this. By no means is that an insult. This track is one of those things that show the art in video games.

I saw this comment and I remembered how unfortunate it was for Final Fantasy XIV to turn into a failure. They are constantly trying to fix everything that went wrong (apparently it will be a whole new game in 2013), but the damge has been done. Still, it held some amazing pieces of vgm, this one in particular. If I had one word to describe this song, that word would be majestic. Simply majestic. I wish life came with background music like this. Maybe it would make people appreciate the beauty of the world more. I seriously hope that this vgm at least was played in a beautiful area in the game. It's amazing to me that artists around the world make new and beautiful music like this constantly. Music has lived for a long long time, yet talented composers like Nobuo Uematsu are still able create new, fantastic, and original pieces like this.

This was actually the very first vgm that appeared in the very first VGM Station created by Dark, and for a good reason. Many would actually call this a classic. I was actually tempted to put this under Tune Nostalgia since it seemed so long ago that I played this as a child with my brothers. I remembered that I never actually finished the game since I was stuck at one point, but I do intend to finish it once the newly announced remake comes out. Anyways, I always love piano pieces like these. Piano pieces like this made me want to add "Learn to Play the Piano" in my list of life goals. There's a sadness to this song, but it's also calm and soothing. It's like it's saying "things aren't looking good right now, but there's hope."

This is probably one of the most hardcore music on the 3DS. That drum and electric guitar accompanied with that bass is nothing less than what a rock concert would have. They work so very well together and create an addicting soundscape that just would want to make you bob your head. Now, it wouldn't be a Nintendo track if it doesn't have that special Nintendo charm in there, which it in fact does. You can clearly hear the Kid Icarus music in here, so the track really isn't too heavy and isn't polluted by the guitar. This music is just perfect.

By now, it shouldn't be a secret to the station that Okami has a pretty d*mn good soundtrack, and Reset (Thank You) is no exception to that rule.

You've hit rock bottom, lost your powers, lost your weapon and watched first hand as Yami destroyed the brush gods
Darkness has won.

But then everyone remembers the good deeds you've done, the people you've helped and saved trough your travels, deeds impossible for a wolf.

In a world were people had lost faith in the gods, you alone managed to rekindle it and get to watch as they all pray, not for selfish gain,
but to have the sun shine once more, for their great godess Amaterasu to be safe.
Their faith alone gets you back in there, even going beyond just restoring your powers but gives you the true strenght of Ookami Amaterasu.

What else is there to say than this song is absolutely perfect for that scenario.
Starting out rather slow and sombre it then proceedes to climb from almost a mourn to a near triumphant cheer, building your own belief that this is possible, Yami can be defeated, you can do it because now you have the peoples faith on your side.

The light never dissapeared, it only needed someone to turn it back on

(I'll admit that this is an extremely watered down version of the millions of reasons to why I find this great but my personal reason is mainly from the perspective of the game while I tried to keep this on a more neutral basis, though I'm unsure if I succeded)

Mario and Luigi games have always been known for its mixture of good-paced RPG action, unique areas and witty humor. However, many people also remember it for the great music in this game. The Boss Theme from Superstar Saga shows just how great the music is. The song has two different tones: Upbeat and Serious. The upbeat part of the music pumps you up for some unusual bosses while the serious part has you realize that you are fighting a boss that can defeat you if you don't know how to use guard commands. I recommend listening to this. However, it isn't my favorite boss theme in the series (and my favorite isn't a final boss theme from any of the games either...).

I myself have never played "Xenoblade" nor any of the "Xeno" games, so I can't tell you how amazingly awesome any of those games would be. However, after watching this in a few AMVs, as well as one of my friends sending me a link to this song...it made me instantly love it.

About the song itself, well this brings out something that any listener can visualize. A fierce battle between two powerful opponents, neither one of them giving up for an instant. A OST such as this, usually only comes once and a while, but with this...its the most amazing thing since "Taco Tuesdays"

So Pokémon decided to be mainstream? yeah. And, boy, did they do it well. It's one of the most interesting themes I've heard. Electronicy, housey, full of hipster percussion, verging into areas of dubstep influence. Then you pair it with those infectiously cool DS-style piano scales that appear everywhere at super high speed. The music stays to its roots though. It takes after more electronic battle themes from other Pokémon games. Ridiculously angst-y and amazingly hyper, to be honest. But for a boss, amazingly refreshing. I doubt you have the opportunity to have themes like this on any other console platform. Only the DS. Only the DS has these toy piano-esque tunes that's like coffee and Red Bull poured into the hands of an angry pianist.

Ok, this theme is just awesome. As if the process to capture these guys wasn't as cryptic as the cryptic puzzle upside down in a blender, I even had to use the braille guide in the back of the emerald book to even work out what it was telling me to do. The reward is well worth it, not only with 3 Very awesome looking Pokemon, but this theme. I can't really describe why it's awesome, it just is. Atleast it fits the legendary pokemon by sounding robotic and golemish whilst also being sorta techno-ish for Registeel, unlike a certian Diamond and Pearl's legendary trio battle theme. Anyway, it gets a spot for being probably one of the most memorable peices of pokemon music. Not to mention the fact pokemon emerald is my favorite game ever. Oh, I also personally use Regice in my Emerald team against those pesky dragon users :3

This is just pure awesome!
It's loud, it's grand, and the female choir through the entire track perfectly nails the divine nature of the fight this plays in were you essentialy go up against a female version of God, Jubileus, The Creator.
Jubileus is litteraly the embodiment of divine will, the supreme being, and essentialy God, that is stuck at barely half her power yet is still able to throw GALAXIES at you, use every power the Auditio have, and can unmake the universe itself just to reshape it in perfect harmony,
and this is reflected perfeclty trough her theme.

The way orchestra and choir blend togeather here is just briliant and makes a theme deffinetely fitting for the equivalent of our God.

I guess you should have seen this coming sooner or later. I know there's too many FFVII fanboys as well as haters, but you can't deny that it's a good piece of vgm. Whenever I write about a vgm from a video game I haven't played, I sometimes feel that I'm not doing it justice. That's what I feel right now. I don't really know the emotions that was built up to this battle, but seeing all the love and the nostalgia for game in consideration, I think I can safely assume it was dramatic. The vocals sound very fine for an old game. I'm not saying the background music was bad, but the vocals seem very realistic to me. Overall, it's a robust battle theme.

I actually didn't know if this fit more in WCA or VV because I just love the vocals that starts around in 0:46. I decided that vocals like these fit more with WCA since the vgm doesn't revolve around the vocals. Instead, the vocals just adds more fierceness. The whole thing is just so epic and eargasmic, especially for those playing the game (like I did). I actually had to fight Caius (the boss for this theme) three times before I beat him, and it was very intense. However, the music didn't make me shake because it made me nervous. It shook me since I felt the energy of the battle. For those who did not play the game, it's still an amazing vgm. When I was playing, the brother actually heard this and asked me what the song was because he thought it was awesome as well. Just goes to show you that vgm this good doesn't need the game. You just gotta listen to it.

This is the most epic music from the entire franchise, hands down. Despite the lolicon in Pokemon XD, it managed to take Colosseum's soundtrack and turn it up to eleven. That is a huge feat, considering that Colosseum also had an amazing soundtrack. Anyways, this song represents the epitomy of the Ultimate Showdown of Destiny: You, the hero, have bravely infiltrated a distant island that is impossible to travel on with regular boats due to really harsh waves. You have defeated the villain's army and rescued the Shadow Pokemon from them. Now, you encounter the villain. He mocks you for your worthlessness and brings out his Ultimate Pokemon. However, once you topple this obstacle *cough*masterball*cough*, the villain becomes angry and engages you personally in battle. This theme has the really epic feel to it for the final battle. The opening is dark and intimidating, signifying that you will have a hard time fighting against the mastermind behind Cipher (All of his Pokemon are Shadow Pokemon (6 of them), 3 of them being Legendary. Good luck catching them all in one battle). However, the Orchestra blasts out, representing the power of the hero and the hope that he will prevail. Then, the orchestra just blares out in an impressive way, representing the battle between Ultimate Good and Ultimate Evil. Needless to say, everyone should listen to it.

Wow, I really don't know what to say for this one. Sonic CD was relatively unheard of because it was on the crappy Sega CD, but people praise the game as the greatest Sonic game to have ever been conceived. The game has also received some controversy from people who didn't like how the NA version had a different soundtrack than the Japanese and European versions. I honestly can see why they would argue. Tidal Tempest is the game's obligatory water levels, and aesthetically, it is really fitting. This is the music I imagine all water ruins to have: It is supposed to remind you of being deep under the sea, kind of like when using Dive in Pokemon in the overworld. That means that the music is super-calming, but this track also makes you want to bob your head. Truly, it is just that amazing. This is honestly one of the reasons I prefer the Japanese Soundtrack over the North American Soundtrack. In addition, I got the Sonic CD app on the Ipad2, so it is natural that I celebrate by posting my favorite track from the game.

No matter how bad the series has gotten gameplay wise (according to many people), Final Fantasy's music still manages to be a true gem. This theme is the theme that began a revolution of JRPG. Not only that, it began the fantastic Final Fantasy vgm. It's a theme of adventure a song of fantasy. This song has a special place in a lot of people's memories. It has even made it's way to new Final Fantasy games in new remastered glory. It just reminds all the FF fans out there that all though each FF is different, they are united by the chocobos, the moogles, the cactuars, and the beautiful music.

Again, I feel that I'm not doing this sing justice since I've never played Final Fantasy VI. It's still a nice vgm, and I've heard it elsewhere too. I heard it in Dissidia as a loading screen song (showing the group traveling through a blizzard). From watching the loading screen for five minutes (it was downloading memory), I did get some emotion from the song. There was sadness and loneliness, but what really stood out was the theme of toil through the blizzard. It's beautiful in its own way. I've heard a lot about Final Fantasy VI. Some claim that it's the best out of the Final Fantasy games. And Terra is certainly a character, just judging from Dissidia. This vgm is very true to its emotion and character, and as a stand alone vgm, it's quite compelling if you ask me.

There's just something about it, a chill that runs up your spine when you hear it, especially in its original form. There's just something there. Maybe the sense of adventure you had when you first played the game, the excitement and pure epicness that was your arrival at the Lake of Rage. Whatever it is for whomever it is, this song clicks with people deep down. They know the song they'll remember from this game.

This remix displays why remixes are so awesome. I don't even know how to describe it. Just to let you know, I didn't even play Super Mario World, so it's nothing nostalgic for me (maybe for you). I just think the whole thing is a pretty epic remix. I love the high energy and rock feel to the song. I especially like the last part where it goes from quiet and mysterious to just crazy awesome. It's one of those remixes where I just imagine it in an actual video game. Imagine this song in a Mario game and the parts of the level fit the parts of the song. Intense, fun, and eargasmic.

Amazingly redone by the Legend of Zelda Orchestra, it's a wonder how they could make such a great song even better. The original was easily my favorite song out of the entire game, and hearing this version is a real treat. For some reason I find myself relating this song to the Captain Falcon/Ganondorf relationship in the Smash Bros. series: The original is more fast-paced, and this version is slower but more powerful.

I've noticed there's quite a few Pokemon songs already, but I can't help it. The music from Pokemon are just too nostalgic and awesome to pass. I do wish that the Jukebox had music from a wide variety of games, but Pokemon stands out to me a lot. Also, I wanted to update RR and TN since they're lagging behind in the amount of songs. (Hint hint! Please request more unwanted stations!) When thinking of a song for RR, Pokemon Reorchestrated immediately came to my mind. They're an awesome group of people that are, well, reorchestratring Pokemon music. All of their soundtracks are amazing, which is why I had a hard time picking just one.

In the end, I ended up choosing the Ending Credits from Pokemon R/S/E. (I did not expect to make that pun. =O) It's a teary and nostalgic track for anyone who had played the third generation of Pokemon. It was beautifully made and even more beautifully remixed. I love the piano, the calm relief feeling to it, and just that moving music you expect at an end of anything whether it be a movie or a video game. The way it goes from calm and builds up to the sounds of adventurous excitement is amazing. Everything about it is marvelous.

Much can be said about this tune. First of those being how it takes one back. When Heart Gold and Soul Silver were first released and their soundtracks became available, this was the first song I looked up. Now if taken in full, it actually may seem fairly average, but there's only one part that a listener needs to hear; the first eleven seconds.
If you liked that, then maybe you might like the FireRed/LeadGreen version of the song, which plays on the Sevii Island Routes from 4-7. In all honesty, this song was definitely a nostalgia slammer. It made me anticipate HG/SS version. I never got it yet, but I will soon. However, I still absolutely love this music when I first heard it, due to how much I loved G/S/C versions. It is a well-done homage of the song, and it fits the new adventure sound of it, which is what the postgame of FR/LG is. It reminded me so much of Johto that I wanted to cry when I first listened to this music in 2005.

It's unfortunate FFXIII wasn't liked as much because its soundtrack is amazing. I don't care if Nobuo Uematsu didn't compose it. MasashiHamauzu is just as good. Serah's Theme is actually almost a carbon copy of FFXIII's main theme, The Promise. The only difference is Serah's Theme has the vocals. Having the already beautiful piano piece, the vocals just made it even more brilliant. The singer's voice is beautiful, but the lyrics is a big part to why I love this song so much. Note that the Japanese version is identical to the English version. The lyrics are just a little different. Anyways, not only did the lyrics relate to the game, but it related to me. Its idea of hope and peace are very close to my values. It's one thing to hear something great. It's another thing to hear something fantastic and personal.

Her vocals complete the whole beauty of the calmness. I've seen videos of Bastion, and I think it would fit in nicely during gameplay or a scene when setting the theme of the game. Although I don't really know when this song plays. I'd like to mention that this song won "Best Song in a Game" at Spike's 2011 VGAs, but I don't like the VGAs that much. Hearing this, I beg to differ, because this is disturbing on so many levels it is downright creepy.

I'll admit the song itself isn't that creepy but the images you get while listening to it is, but man does this get under your skin.

If I were to summarize this music, it's someones decent into madness as it starts out very calm and peacefull,
fooling you into dropping your guard before the stuff gets dark as you hear sounds of drills, laughter, crying, and what I can only describe as someone being butchered, in the background, working against the calm and peacefull nature of the beginning that almost desperately seems to tell you "Things will get better".
Better never comes.

The ominous bongo, the creepy choirs, and the unsettling atmospheric conditions in the song. The Shadow Temple is possibly the most creepiest place to have ever entered an E-Rated game. There is just so much blood spattered across the walls in the catacomb-like dungeon, the blood of those innocent who screams have echoed throughout the halls as they were being tortured and having their heads chopped off. The 3DS version of the temple is much more terrifying, since the "dirt" piles, floors and walls you see are rotting corpses and human skeletons. There are zombies that will suck out your life energy while appearing to rape you. There is nothing to do in this time but scream, scream at the top of your lungs as you are whittled down to your last heart, where your soul will become join the wraiths of the Shadow Temple. Your soul shall then be consumed through the eye of Bongo Bongo, who was hung upside-down and had his head chopped off, letting loose a stream of blood until the body stopped rapidly shaking. Yes, I have gotten all of that from just this music. The song creates a very unsettling feeling as though you are watched at every minute. It fits into the atmosphere that you are walking through a realm of death, where torture devices and execution methods are abundant throughout the hallways. So...have the courage to listen to this song at night?

I can just imagine me playing this character all alone at space with this song playing. Again, the use of childhood memories to get to people's minds really work. The creepy ambience doesn't help. Also, the smooth and unique yet disturbing voice is discomforting but also beautiful. It's not the best song to listen to all alone in your house at night, but it's great at what it does and it does it excellently.

A OST such as this, usually only comes once and a while, but with this...its the most amazing thing since "Taco Tuesdays".

One thing I can say about this game...is that it is amazing, along with its sweet music. Now, ON TO THE SONG!

This is where Wheatley takes over and gets, you guessed it "Power Mad". I can honestly say, this brings out some chills to those who listen to it. Especially if you play the game yourself, hearing GLaDOS' autotune screams. It starts off all happy and looks like everyone is glad that she's not in control anymore...though its when you least expect it...a dark side of the OST starts playing. And when something like that happens...everyone who plays VG. know 1 thing: Stuff about to go down!

A battle theme against a dragon how awesome can that be, for that you need a theme that gets you pumped up, and leaves you scared at the same time. This theme is somewhat of a combination of genres that just leaves you mindless (dubstep, rock and a bit of techno) I for one want this to be my battle theme where i just go berserk and just slash people to death with bare hands.

Sexy, dramatic boss theme? yespls. Howls, wind and random clockwork sounds set along to the sound of a rich and deep eastern orchestral movement give real emotive drama to the fight you are fighting. Which is against some random owls. Owls are always scary. Anyway, one of the best fights in the whole game surely deserves one of the best soundtracks too? It's one of the darker battle themes in Okami, with the others taking a slightly more action-style theme, but this one is jsut a little creepily powerful. Picture the scheme: two rather creepy steampunk owls staring into your very soul on top of an abandoned icy temple, in the middle of nowhere. It's pretty dark, the air's low, and now these owls want to kill you. Syncopated, accented notes and simple eastern percussion with flutes piping out the melody; dulcimer-like instruments tapping out their melodies in time with the flutes. Shamisens plucking their notes out. Every so often is that classic whirly breath sound made on a flute which is heard in most of the Okami tracks. Not to mention the random strings kicking in to give you a proper slap on the back. It's a track with crazy split-personality disorder. It makes the most climatic of music soft and beautiful while making gentle xylophones and flutes sounds like slightly psychotic murderers. Yes, that was a simile there. Only true musical geniuses could make such beauty out of...very exotic chaos basically. For a 5 minute track with similar material throughout, it's genius. Pure genius.

Now most Sonic fans have said "Sonic Unleashed" was a bad game, only because of the Werehog, but in my honest opinion...the game was pretty good. For the song itself, this is the orchestrated version of Unleashed's main theme "Endless Possibility", which knowing most Sonic fans love the song to death. Now with this, it has a sort of dark feeling to it at the beginning as you run off to fight Dark Gaia for the 2nd and last time here. With the dark feeling at the beginning and a sort of upbeat feeling with the rest of the song which to everyone listening to it, makes them love it from the get-go. Fi's Farewell
As per usual of Daisuke Ishiwataris(Amazing) compositions, it features a metric ton of guitar. I had to try to write a summary of this...

Basicially, like many other of Daisuke's vs. Themes, it does a good job at portraying the characters really well, the Guitar is more Eddie's crazy screaming and the slower parts are more Millia's Trauma over being haunted by Eddie. Add in a ton of guitar, and there, you have a vs. Theme that's is so amazing it was also parodied in 1 of the company's later games. Oh, this song was also used in the GGX hilariously badly made anime intro("OH NO! I'M FALLING!") Anyway, I personally think that No Mercy and Noontide are better than this, but whatever. Just enjoy the damn music.

yea, I can't write emotional stuff about games.
DD) Shadowman - Asylum Playrooms]Shadowman - Asylum Playrooms

(I might have misunderstood what the DD section is for, if that's the case, ignore this request)
People keep telling me that Giygas' theme is the most disturbing piece of videogam music out there
Hearing this, I beg to differ, because this is disturbing on so many levels it is downright creepy.

Around the 1 minute mark they remove the bells, and the stuff goes dark

This is a nightmare to listen to if you are easily creeped out like me, and I am not looking forward to my dreams tonight
Probably not even close to an apropriate description, but that is because my sanity was desperately piecing itself back togeather while writing it.

Also, spoilers aren't working on the first post Twig.

For the record, the game is Shadowman and the song is Asylum Playrooms. And I'm going to try and top Lazaruz' suggestion.
Anyways:

There's something utterly disturbing about this track. The continuous vocals, which sound demonic, and the "melody" that keeps speeding up in an all too fitting manner with an eyeball jamming along to it. After the climax, the melody goes down to a slow drear, very industrial-like, though the place synchronised with this part is empty, apart from a few corpses. It still gets to you.
That's my take on the in my opinion most disturbing VGM in history.

Pokemon R/S/E - VS. Regirock, Regice, Registeel
