TotalObelisk
Serenitas Gauntlet Arc of silence Plot: It is the year 2999, and a new millennium will soon pass. After a massive technological rise the world quickly became divided as resources became low until eventually war broke out between America, Europe and Asia. Ultimately America won through and now controls more than 2 thirds of the world under the New American Republic and threatens to annex the rest. However, over the past 1000 years, possibly even more, mankind has been changing, as if evolution has gone crazy. Humans with extraordinary abilities and traits began popping up seemingly at random with no recognizable pattern or any definable cause, some resembled mythological creatures like vampires or werewolves, some developed psychic abilities, others seemed to have comes from an entirely different world altogether, these people came to be known as the Avis. While these where only a small percentage of the population they caused massive concern throughout the general human population, before long the Bureau of Extra-Normal Defence (B.E.N.D) was founded, dedicated to studying and controlling the Avis, even recruiting them into their service to help them deal with the more dangerous ones, sometimes resorting to torture and blackmail to get them to agree. However, not all of the Avis took kindly of this idea; many rebelled openly against them while other simply went into hiding. Eventually a group of like-minded Avis banded together and formed their own organization known as the Circle, believing that they should rule the earth over mankind. Like the Bureau, they hired human agents as well as Avis to fulfil their goals. While some Avis, and even humans, remained neutral many where drafted, sometimes forcibly, into either faction and a war threatened to break out between them. As each faction grew rumour spread of a weapon being developed by the Bureau, a device called the Arc of Silence. Nobody outside of the Bureau leaders know what this arc is or what it can do but it already has Avis amassing from all over the world to Washington DC, the capital of the New American Republic. You are either one of the Avis or a simple human, and whether by orders from either the Bureau, the Circle or by your own volition you’ve come to Washington after hearing the rumours about the Arc of Silence. It does not matter if you are here to defend it, destroy it or claim it as your own, all that matters is that, like it or not, you will eventually clash with one-another. All that is currently known for certain is that there are ten days left until the Arc’s activation, use your time wisely.
After the world was divided by war many countries fell into poverty or where annexed by the New American Republic. Technology within the republic has grown to become a glorious utopia with cities spanning near entire states and state of the art security and communication that ensures order is kept within. Outside the republic however it is a different story, many countries are reduced to wasteland and much of the land is irradiated and unable to be used for farming, most of these countries live in poverty and those that don’t are close to becoming part of the republic itself. The more well off countries sometimes mount resistance but are quickly defeated. Avis: The Avis refers, not to a specific species, but to any person who has abilities or traits beyond the normal populace, this can be almost anything be it something simple like enhanced strength or something more complex such as psychic powers, they can’t even be referred to as mutants since many of them possess traits that not even mutation could replicate. There is no one cause for the Avis as different Avis gained their abilities in different ways be it a scientific experiment, a mutation or some form of disease, some were even born with them, all that is known is that they have significantly increased in number over the past 1000 years and are considered dangerous by many of the earth’s population. (Think of it as like the DC or Marvel universe, each one has a wide variety of characters with extraordinary abilities and powers each of which comes from various sources.) The Circle: The Circle is an organization of Avis that is almost religious in their beliefs, believing that they are the next stage of humanity and that humans should either die out and leave the planet to them or simply serve under them. They are considered by most to be simple terrorists but their actions mainly seem to revolve around the gathering and protection of other Avis rather than the destruction of humans, but they have been known to move against the Bureau of Extra-Normal Defence once in a while. They are not above recruiting humans to their cause but most are usually special cases, such as relatives or sympathisers. B.E.N.D: The Bureau of Extra-Normal Defence is an organization of humans dedicated to controlling the Avis population. To the public it is a simply security organization dedicated to keeping peace within the republic, however the Bureau is far more ruthless in its approach to controlling the Avis, treating them like some sort of disease or wild animal that needs to be destroyed rather than controlled. They will often force Avis to join them by whatever means necessary and are outrageously biased towards humanity, refusing to see Avis as people or even allowing them rights.

All General Rules and Role-play Rules apply. The only sign of affection she ever seems to show to anyone or anything is to stroke them softly, whether it is an object or a person. When in conversation Margavine is very blunt and to the point but will at least attempt to keep her tone polite and sociable but can often insult or offend a person without realizing it. Margavine won’t enter another person’s house without permission, this actually has nothing to do with her vampirism she’s just being polite. When fighting she becomes extremely aggressive, showing no restraint in her attacks and shows barely any consideration for her surroundings or any spectators. Margavine refers to the sword she carries around with her as ‘Grandfather’ and seems to care a great deal for it, often talking about it as if it were an actual person (though never talking to it directly). The only real way to get any kind of reaction out of Margavine is to damage or even insult ‘Grandfather’ at which point she will fly in a rage at the person responsible.

Skills/abilities: Enhancements: Margavine’s vampirism has granted her several enhancements which include; immortality, super strength, speed and durability, night vision and fast healing. She is also completely immune to poison and disease. The level of each of these is directly affected by her level of bloodlust. Hypnotism: Depending on how strong or weak-willed a person is Margavine is able to hypnotize them into doing her bidding. The effects vary from person to person but have several limitations, she must have unbroken eye contact with a person to hypnotise them (that means no blinking) and she cannot make them do something they would not normally do (EG: Kill a loved one). Bloodlust: Margavine has a natural urge to feed off the blood of humans to try and stop the growth of her vampirism, the longer she goes without blood the stronger her abilities become, the more effective her weaknesses become and the stronger her lust becomes, extended periods without feeding can also cause her to become more feral in both nature and appearance. Feeding off the blood of humans can temporarily halt these effects, allowing her to act more rationally again but will also weaken her abilities once more. Hair: Margavine’s hair seems to have a mind of its own, while not in combat it just hangs loosely from her head and trails along the floor, when she does start fighting it will sometimes attempt to entangle her opponent of its own accord. However this also often leads to her hair getting tangled in things other than her opponent such as branches, bushes, etc. and she has little to no control over how it behaves. Vampirism: While feeding on another human Margavine can possibly infect them with a disease that, if untreated, can eventually turn that person into a vampire as well. Margavine has no control over whether this happens or not and is very careful not to let it happen. Weapons: Grandfather: Margavine carries around what appears to be a grandfather clock but is in fact a buster sword with a large clock face embedded in the hilt which she calls Grandfather. The more the weapon is used in combat the more the hands move forward till it gets to twelve o’clock, however to do this it feeds on its wielder’s own life force, thus nobody has lived long enough to get it all the way (Margavine, however, is immortal and thus mostly unaffected by this), each time it reaches the next number it will give the appropriate number of chimes. Depending on the number the clock is up to, Margavine is able to spend the accumulated ‘time’ for one of three effects; 1. Slam the sword into the ground to create a shockwave that extends out from the point of the strike 2. Swing the sword horizontally to create a single wave in one direction or 4. Swing the sword vertically to create a sharp crescent of energy that cuts through anything in its path. The strength of each of these abilities is directly relative to the current number on the clock, after any one is used the clock will reset to 0. The clock resets after each battle. Items: Margavine carries a bunch of leaves that are used to cure the disease that eventually leads to Vampirism, however they cannot cure Vampirism itself. Upon feeding on a victim she will crush the leaves into paste and feed them to the victim once she’s finished, however she only has a limited supply of these and the plant they come from is extremely rare (she has a few seeds but they take a month to grow fully and can only grow in certain climates). Fighting Style: When fighting, Margavine becomes suddenly violent and aggressive towards her opponent, attempting to subdue them quickly with powerful swings from her sword and pays little attention to anything around her, focusing entirely upon her opponent, her attacks growing stronger and more violent as the time on her sword’s clock face moves forward. Whether intentionally or not her hair will attempt to entangle her opponent to try and slow them down. Weaknesses: Despite not being able to age her, the clock still puts significant strain on Margavine and she has to rest for a while after prolonged use. Due to her vampirism, sunlight can be incredibly harmful to Margavine, while it can’t directly kill her it can weaken her abilities significantly and even leave her exhausted and she will actually start to look her age if exposed for too long (she will revert back to her regular appearance once back in shade and fully recovered). She is incapable of entering holy ground or going near blessed or religious items, they don’t actually harm her but she is incapable of going near them. Despite being immortal Margavine is still able to be killed by most natural means (after all, a stake to the heart would kill anybody). While only sunlight can harm her, a bright light can override her sensitive eyesight and blind her temporarily. Margavine can’t swim (but is perfectly capable of crossing over running water should she need to). Margavine has an obsession with numbers, if she finds a pile of something such as rice or gain she will instantly stop to count out how many there are, this is not as effective as it would be with most other vampires, however, as Margavine is an incredibly fast and organized counter and can be done with a sizeable pile within seconds, she also has a similar obsession with knots and tangles, though this mostly stems from her own hair. Faction: Neutral Biography: Margavine was born in the Victorian era to a wealthy family; her father was an alchemist and specialized in making powerful medicines which could cure even the most dangerous of diseases. Despite the fact that Margavine’s father was obsessed with his work he still found time to spend time with his family and obviously cared for them a lot. During Mergavine’s teenage year she contracted a disease which her father knew would eventually lead to vampirism, however he had no cure to hand in order to relieve her of this fate. After a long time of research her father eventually discovered a cure for Margavine’s condition and set off with her on an expedition to obtain the plant necessary to create it. However they arrived too late for Margavine to be cured and she finally gave in to her vampirism, killing her father in a state of bloodlust. Upon realizing what she’d done and what she’d become Margavine ran away and didn’t return to her family, quickly becoming an outcast from society and attempting to avoid people as much as possible. After running away Margavine became the frequent target of vampire hunters, most just looking to make a name for themselves others tracking her down for other reasons such as bounty or personal grudges. Margavine spent much of her early vampire life running away from them by eventually began fighting back, often killing them violently in an attempt to deter more from hunting her, however this had the opposite effect of raising the bounty on her head and drawing more and more skilled hunters towards her, eventually forcing Margavine to go into hiding. About 700 years into her vampirism, Margavine eventually came across an antique shop and entered, curious about its contents. She quickly spied an old grandfather clock that the owner informed her that despite several attempts did not seem to work, even if someone tried to force the hands to move. He also told Margavine that all the previous owners of the clock died shortly after obtaining it, looking much older than they should have been. Curious, Margavine bought the clock (with a very generous discount) and took it home with her to examine. After a while she eventually discovered that the clock was in fact a sword disguised as a grandfather clock. It didn’t take long for Margavine to figure out how it worked, after deciding to use it during a fight she noticed that the hands moved forwards the more she fought and she seemed to grow stronger as the hands progressed. Margavine quickly became very attached to the weapon, taking to calling it ‘Grandfather’ as it resembled a grandfather clock.

Leader of the Bureau of Extra Normal Defence: he is a stubborn and xenophobic leader, treating the Avis like dirt and devoting his entire career into wiping them out.

Any player who has gone too long without posting (say 2 weeks or so) without prior warning will have their app dropped from the RP. They will be free to reapply at any time with the same app, however.
