wiithepeople
You've all anticipated its arrival and there has finally been news about it, so I think a topic should be set up here. Anyway, I'm certain you all heard about the news that SSBU is starting development around this time and is expected (in my opinion) to have a late 2013 release at the most. (Remember that Brawl was delayed for quite a while and then even longer...) For those who have not yet heard, Sakurai was talking to the higher-ups about a Smash Bros. title for 3DS nearly as soon as the 3DS' release. But Kid Icarus: Uprising got in the way of that and took most of the time away from developing a Smash Bros. game for the hardware, so Sakurai decided to wait until development of Uprising was over before reconsidering SSBU on the 3DS. That was when Wii U was also in the middle stages of development, at the moment when it was revealed to the public, and Sakurai was at a crossroads. Would he make the Smash Bros. game for the 3DS like his original plan? Or keep the home console tradition alive and swap development to the Wii U. Sakurai, the shrewd guy that he is, firmly decided that in order to make everyone happy he would release the game on BOTH systems. However, what we do know about the contrasts of the Wii U and the 3DS is quite simple. We all know that the Wii U is graphically superior to the 3DS in nearly every way. I would guess that the Wii U version will play similar to what we're used to, with new and returning characters, items, and stages, and the stage maker system would make a return with more stuff to choose from. The Arcade Mode is still fun as always, so Sakurai won't mess with that, but how are Sakurai's best friends at HAL going to one-up the Subspace Emissary story? Whatever happens in that regard will pique my interest for certain. Sakurai did mention that the SSBU on the 3DS "would be suited for a one-player experience", but don't count out Online functionality or Download Play. Fighing CPUs all day would seem pretty boring after completing the game 100%. As the tech in the 3DS' hardware isn't up to par with it's bigger brother, I guess that only 17-22 characters will appear at most, meaning some of my favorites will likely get cut, as well as the stage maker. It should also be noted that Sakurai did say something about "experience points". To me, that sounds just like Pokemon. Does anyone know of any new or returning characters they want to see in SSBU? Do you think the characters will be balanced to an extent and not have "broken" characters(see Meta Knight)? If you ask me, you can't rule out the big five. Mario, Samus, Kirby, Link, and Pikachu are must-haves in any Smash game. They're all too memorable to miss. Add in DK, Yoshi, and Fox and the N64 nostalgia comes into play. If I were Sakurai, I would say, "We can start with the original 8 characters and work from there." As for Hideo Kojima and SEGA, would their respective characters come back for more? Will we see even more third party characters? I don't know. Only time will tell.

❤ Lovely Warrior ❤
I hope they bring back the more realistic physicks that Mele had. I'm tired of the stiff hair and clothes.
Shradow
Keep Ike and buff Ganondorf a little and I'm good to go.
Phantom Roxas
Ganondorf should actually use his sword. He used it in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, so his style should be heavily updated to reflect that. Sonic will probably come back, but I don't know about Snake. Aside from that, keep the Brawl roster. Either bring back Roy or include Eirika, Ephraim, or Seth. Keep Lucario, but bring back Mewtwo, and differentiate the two of the more. Speaking of differentiation, there needs to be a lot more of that among the Star Fox characters. I don't care what they do with Pichu or Dr. Mario, although the former could be remade into a Pokéball character. Make Isaac into a full-fledged character, and put in Gold, who uses Chikorita, Quilava, and Feraligatr.
Shradow
If they gave Ganondorf his sword, it wouldn't be that hard to implement some ideas. Also needs moar Fire Emblem. :
Shradow
I'd like it if they kept Toon Link and added Tetra. Also, I've only said it about a million times, but I really want http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrmuATvklKA Also, do you think we need another Mario character? Ice.
>late 2013 Citation, bro. But anyways, the only guys that will make me happy are Paper Mario or Waluigi. As for third party, Mega Man and Viewtiful Joe. But I know the latter won't ever happen.
I hope to god this has some depth and isn't just "Mashy Mashy" Like brawl was.
It's funny because you play ArcSys games yet you're complaining about "mashy mashy" stuff. Also, Smash is a party game. Not a fighting game. It doesn't need 'depth'. Shradow
SSB is a fighting game series, and mashing buttons doesn't work unless your opponent is as terrible as you are.
Tentacruel
DO WANT. I hope they abandon the 4 characters per series thing and add a few more Pokemon and Mario characters. I'm hoping for: Isaac Mewtwo Non-Clone Gannondorf and StarFox characters Possibly Megaman Zoroark AND Lucario Tom Nook The gay sword dude from Skyward Sword Ridley Probably won't get my wish granted on too many of those though. Resident Fascist
Not really. There's better things they can do. If they gave *GASP* Advanced options I might want to play the game. Seriously, it's all I want: Some depth behind the system mechanics.

BlazBlue is entry level crap. GG isn't "hard". No fighting game is truly "hard". What's hard is sticking down combos through muscle memory and being able to read your opponents moves/adapt to a situation.
