"Reputation points"?

I want to know how "Reputation points" work now? In the past (I wasn't on he forum "for a while") you just had to go to users profile and there was a suitable button there. It got me interested since many contest offer REPs as price but there are no options to add them (at lest for me)

Instead, you can press the green 'Like This' button in the bottom-right of posts, which serves the exact same function. It basically just changed names after the big update which you missed.

There's a limit of 3 likes per day.
And the only way to "neg" someone is to unlike a post of theirs you previously liked.
