DickAnderson
So what age did everyone start playing yugioh? What got you interested? What was you first thought? I just made this for everyone to talk and have a decent conversation!=) I first started playing around age 8 or 9. I got interested from watching the TV show, I used to watch it every chance I got. I just thought it was awesome because the way they played and everything, and seeing all those cool looking creatures come out of the cards and everything. When I first started playing I had no idea what I was doing lol, I went to the store bought a deck and a couple starter packs with my allowance I was hooked ever since. I did stop playing for a couple years but I fount them recently and now I am hooked again. I just thought it would be nice to start this topic and read everyone's reason's and have a nice conversation with anyone that comments.

Zeal Ascendant
Only a year or two ago tbh, maybe a bit more. But I haven't been even remotely good at the game until very recently.
DickAnderson
haha I was playing for 5 years only with friends though, no tournaments. I just fount out some rules that I never new like spell speeds. =P
Tentacruel
On and off since it first hit the states. Good times.

Fusion X. Denver
Ironically, I used to hate YGO because the TV show looked stupid to me. But on a playdate at a friend's house in 5th grade, I saw manga novels of his. At that point I'd only been exposed to DBZ, so he had me try out Naruto, YuYu Hakusho, One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh! So I read all of his manga and pretty much fell in love with each of the series. So I began to like Yu-Gi-Oh! and collected the manga volumes, which led me to getting into the card game. I dueled my friend whenever I came over and with another friend after school during 6th grade. Then I stopped for a while until I found YCM. Makο
My older bro got me into it when I was in Elementary, a while ago. Then, I gave all my cards away to a friend, and dropped it for a WHILE. Then, I watched Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series. Kaiba taught me about THIS place. Then I began to post here. Then I got back into it.
Desu the Blue Nerd
Around the age of 5 or so. Saw the show and liked it. But that alone didn't get me hooked. Some neighborhood friends started playing it and told me to get the cards so I complied. Sad to think at the age of 6 I pretty much had every card in my deck memorized with its lore, effect, ATK, DEF, etc. and now I don't even know what the newest pack is. Meaning I haven't actually been following the game very well in the past few years. It used to be pretty popular around here but not so much anymore. I may not care much about the game anymore. Not saying that I don't like the game (which isn't even slightly true) but there's just been less of a point to bother with it now.
Shradow
I don't remember how long ago it was, I just remember it being where if you summoned BEWD, you basically won.
Greiga
When Blue-Eyes was the best card and the most recent effect monster was like Castle of Dark Illusions or something like that. So A f***ing long time ago. I remember I was at least 6 or 7 maybe.
DARKPLANT RISING
I've done it for 8 years now. Only last 2 have been even slightly competitive, though.
DickAnderson
Yea all this complicated crap now I truly do not like XYZ, or Synchro/Tuner cards. Everything got complicated and overpowered, and especially the old cards are all useless against xyz monsters. Since they are "not considered on he field, nor there materials", so now all trap holes, dark holes, etc. are all useless against them. Especially with the cards that instantly get to special summon another monsters, just because you normal summoned that one. I just can't win against an XYZ deck or Synchro /Tuner cards. What do you guys think about em?

DickAnderson
I just re-read over the new rules... I feel dumb it's just the materials, that aren't considered "on the field" I just dueled my friend and he won because I thought they weren't considered on the field... I thank you Darkplant - VENOM, ALLOT lol I wish I would have known this when I bought them a couple days ago. I just got back into yugioh, not back into but started playing more. I bought a new deck because the last time I bought anything new to do with yugioh was when Elemental Heroes first came out.
DARKPLANT RISING
Nothing. If you want to win without using Synchros and/or paying lots of money, use Machina Gadgets (they require Rank 4s, tho).

Tormented
I was about 11 when I first even knew about Yu-Gi-Oh; the old times were you just had Normal Monsters, Effect Monsters, Spells and Traps oh and Fusions. Good times.
Northern Sage
Low and middle grade. See, there's a story behind this. There was always some sort of trend at my school (those plastic figurine things you were supposed to throw whatever-they-were-called, Beyblade, Pokemon and Digimon (cards), etc.) And of course Yu-Gi-Oh! Lexadin
I think I was like 10ish when I first started playing it, of course. I listen to the Anime's rules, so I didn't really played the actual game back then, so then I'd say when I was 11/12. Now, because almost everyone I know only saw it as a fad, I ussually only play it online...
Nɇvɇrmorɇ
I remember picking up on the game when I first started watching the show with a friend and he gave me my very fist Yu-Gi-Oh! card. It was a Skull Red Bird. I thought it and the show were so cool and I decided to ask for a started deck for Christmas. I got it and have been obsessed with it sense. I just wish I had more friends who actually played the game. I actually don't remember how old I was. But I was really young.
Î’yakuya
Around 6 years old I got into it. I watched the dubbed anime and I found out you could play the actual TCG. Nostalgia...
