Night
So I'm not a major anime fan, but I recently started watching death note out of pure boredom and Light is just a boss so; As for the piece I found this render and was reminded of a tag that a fellow artist made on this site quite a while back, and got inspired. First tag in about 4 months, regardless, I quite like it.
IMPORTANT: A quick update on the projects that I spoke about prior. It seems as though I thought I could handle mid terms, state exams, administrating a minecraft server/forum, dealing with family coming in to stay at my house, and more while also being able to get to the projects I planned at some point. I was horribly mistaken. The bad news Is I've been crammed lately, and that is why I did not see to getting those projects up earlier in the month which I apologize for, also for not telling this to anyone sooner, other than Yin. The good news is I've finished all of my mid terms as well as all of my state exams (yesterday actually), therefor I can now start looking into producing the projects again.
[b]Cnc + a response to the update is highly needed, however if you just want to give your thoughts on the piece that is appreciated as well. Night
Bump? People on this site need to stop being intimidated to speaking his/her mind.
Twenty-five Zero Oh-oh
The light looks a little off and kinda forced. The concept is rather inspiring though.
Night
I did that on purpose, I wanted the lighting to feel as if it was harsh and glaring at you. (hence why I chose Light Yagami as the focal) I also blurred around the focal and forced the lighting onto the focal for the same reason and to trigger the same response. Thanks for the critique though, even if I wish it were a bit more lengthy.
Twenty-five Zero Oh-oh
More lengthy: D The lighting nevertheless looks kinda artificial (the soft brushing) and according to the render, there should be a little more light coming from the side on the left. Maybe try darkening the right side and lower the opacity of the soft brushing. I also feel you could improve the depth a little by making it look a bit more natural. Remember that when you have really dark blurry objects with highlights about as bright as the brightest light, it will look as if it's supposed to be really up close. Further blurry objects will generally have lighter (sometimes less saturated) shadows or otherwise darker highlights. Idk if that makes sense, but let me know if you have questions. Icy
I did that on purpose, I wanted the lighting to feel as if it was harsh and glaring at you.
Lol... and I showed you the same day you posted this that you can do that without amplifying the focal in such a way. You don't need to force a damn thing. For those reading btw, I did this using the Black and White Filter on Photoshop Cs5, some blurring and setting it to 33-60% opacity on Soft Light/Overlay... on the finished product. Kaisu
Great idea, and I don't really know much about this, but yeah, the lighting was a little bit awkward, but your idea shines (lolpun?) through, and it works. Might be just me, but having Light on a 3D background looks kind of weird, the shift in depth is a bit jarring, but again, could be just me. Durandamon
Let me tell you, I saw you on every showcase thread, I was stunned with your knowledge of gfxing. I saw this and I practically puked rainbows. I love it, and the only thing I saw is that the light to the right is kinda distracting from the focal, but again that's my opinion against yours lololol Anyways, this is a really great tag how long does it take you to do this stuff? ~Energy
This post took me somewhere around 15mins or maybe more to write, I'm not very good with my words so sorry if you don't get what I'm saying. Very nice tag, it was nicely executed, the colours are nice and the left feels good. I also really like the way you did the lighting and the depth for the whole piece . I can't think of much that you could have improved on and I can't be bothered to compliment you about all the details of this. The only thing I don't like is that fractal or w/e it is over his hand and the book, it goes well but I don't like the way you did it. Perhaps make it come from the bottom or have it in his hand properly, depends what you want to do with it, just play around, maybe it is the colour being different making it seem misplaced. Overall I really like this tag, perhaps my favourite from you but then I haven't seen your latest tags.
Night
Thanks for the great cnc guys, every word is critical for my success in the future. Feels good to see the showcase community getting back to it's old self, slowly but surely.
Durandamon
I remember a long time ago, there were plenty of people here, when did the showcase become this?
