Shrugging his shoulders, J.C. walked over to Arena #4, the only one of the five arenas that was actually free, while he waited for his opponent. In the mean time, he decided to look through his deck, to make sure all the cards he wanted were there... before observing that the blonde chick had already defeated her opponent.

"Hmph, not bad... not bad at all," J.C. thought to himself, "Guess that blonde chick does know how to play a card game. Not that it matters; I'll still crush her at the end of the day. Well... after I get over this exam of course..."

Yazid left his seat to go check who and where he was battling. He approached the list and instantly located his name. He was to be dueling a student named J.C. He slowly but anxiously approached the Duel Arena number with the number 4. It looked like his opponent was waiting for him. "Time to get my Duel on!"

Yazid walked up to his side of the arena. "Hey. Are you ready for a lesson?"

He activated his Duel Disk. "DUEL!!"

Yazid was disappointed to have drawn his first five cards, not only to discard two of them. However, J.C. did not know that Card Destruction had helped him. "I have to watch out for the effect of his 'Jurrac Herra.'"

"I'll discard my 'Starshot Warrior' and my 'Starshot Caster'." He said as he drew two more to replace them. "Now due to the effect of 'Caster', I can Banish him. He negates the effect of all cards in the Graveyard or cards that target a card in the Graveyard! I will Set a card and then I will Summon my 'Starshot Paladin' in Attack Mode! And guess what? It inflicts Piercing Battle Damage! Go, attack!"

The centaur-like monster lunged forward as it clashed with the face-down monster. Smoke gushed from all sides of the cards, concealing the outcome of the attack.

As the dust cleared, a green lizard creature had been revealed. It didn't suffer too much damage from the attack, but that was to be expected. The main thing was that this creature had high enough Defense Points to save J.C. from Piercing Damage.

"Looks like you were a little too concerned about Herra," J.C. noted, smirking as he did so, "Anyway, since you've attacked Evoltile Westlo, his effect activates, allowing me to summon any Evolsaur from my Deck. Elias, come on out!"

A bronchosaurus creature materialized alongside Evoltile Westlo and assumed a defensive position, but that wasn't the only monster to hit the field. A green, winged tyrannosaurus creature had jumped onto the other side, rearing to attack.

Alice had a broad grin on her face as she sat on a spare seat on the edge of the room to watch the rest of the duels, feeling rather smug that she'd won her duel already. She noticed that 'Spikey' had begun his own duel with another student not too far away from where she was sitting.

This should be a fun watch, she thought to herself as she began to watch the duel, making mental notes of both player's cards.

Alice admitely didn't know all that much about either archetype either one was using, and judging on what she saw thus far Spikey's deck focused on two sets of Reptile and Dinosaur cards that she guess where based around evolution, however she hadn't seen enough of his opponent's cards to see what kind of strategy they used, her best guess was they involved banishing since at least one of his cards had shown such an effect, she wasn't entirely sure about the others though.

Well, let's just see what Spikey can do, she thought to herself Hm...Wonder if he saw my cards too.

"This is not good."

Yazid was vaguely familiar with Evol's. He new that if he couldn't get something off the field, he was in big trouble... BIG trouble.

"I was planning to save this, but now would be a perfect time to use it. Go, Spell! 'Starshot Capture Bot!'" A circle of electric rings floated around "Terias". Suddenly, the rings zapped it with electricity.

"While 'Starshot Capture Bot' is equipped to a monster, that monster cannot change its position, be Tributed, or used in a Synchro or Xyz Summon! Plus, it changes its battle position. That is all..."

"I can tell that this is going to be a close Duel..."

"This isn't over yet! DRAW!!" J.C. drew another card, glancing at it only for a split second, before deciding his next move, "And I'll start by activating Evo-Force! This nifty card allows me to sacrifice Evoltile Westlo to Special Summon Evolsaur Diplo in Attack Position, and best of all, its treated as though it was summoned by an Evoltile, which means Diplo destroys any Spell or Trap Card of my choosing, and you know what that means? Adiós, Capture Bot!"

Another, smaller bronchosaurus had taken the place of the green lizard creature that was Evoltile Westlo. Immediately, the dinosaur breathed fire on the rings around Terias, freeing the creature.

One more bronchosaurus took to the stage, but unlike the other two, this one seemed to be made of solid ice. It towered over the opposing monster, and stared it down, breathing cold air onto its face.

Yazid watched in awe as the plan he so cleverly set up was washed away by a simple move. Yazid felt resent as the both of the attacks went through, destroying the helpless Paladin. The Frostosaurus, however did not continue it's attack, and the 'Starshot Paladin' was back on the field.

"That was a clever move. However, I will not take this lying down. I activated the Trap, 'Rising Star!' This card Special Summons a Level 3 or lower monster when it is destroyed by battle. Plus it gets an 800 ATK point boost!"

Chris wasn't sure how he'd gotten himself stuck dueling this kid. But he accepted anyways, seeing as it could provide some fun time killing. He didn't think much of his first moves, activating the Field Spell and Summoning a Level 8 monster straight from his hand. But when he activated Dark Designator, "What!?" Chris was taken back not just a bit, but he actually took a step back in surprise. A slid out of his Deck, How in the hell does he know about my Immortal, and yet its name? Chris looked down at the card sticking out from the rest in his Deck, he didn't want to touch it, but he had to. He drew the card and added it to his hand, Earthbound Immortal, Ccapac Apu. He glanced back at his opponent who had now placed 3 face-downs as well as replenish his hand, only to play 1 last face-down card and end his turn. Then, his monster swooped behind Chris and appeared to block the exit, What, how's he doing that? "Who are you? And how did you know about my Immortal?". The boy smiled, "You see professor." he said in a mocking tone. "Some of us embrace the Immortals, some us... become them." He then proceeded to tear open his shirt and reveal to wings beneath, What is this? Chris lost his composure and was left frozen in place. What do I do? What do I do?. Defeat him! What? Defeat him! Who said that? Right here. Chris looked down at his hand, Ccapac Apu!? Yes. But how? How is this possible? You've resisted me for a long time now, but now, since your mind is weak, I can finally reach out to you. What do you mean by that? Just take your turn and you'll understand. Chris shoke his head, returning to reality. Did I just hear that? For real? He looked down at the Immortal in his hand again, and instantly got a more serious face. "My turn, I draw! And I'll start of with Pot of Duality." A Pot of Greed fused with a Pot of Generosity took form before Chris, "Now I reveal the top 3 cards on my Deck and add 1 to my hand, shuffling the rest back into the Deck, and my top 3 are?"

(Response?)
The scenery around them shattered and a vast white desert took place instead, with four prisms floating in air some distance above them. "While this card is in play, each player who controls a monster will receive a negative effect due to its Attribute." Chris pointed at Suspended Angel - Rebellion, "A Light monster means you have to play with your hand revealed at all time, so lets see what you got."
(Response?)
"And also, since your monster is also treated as Dark, if you control two or more monster, you cannot attack." Chris grinned a bit. "I'll Set one monser and one other card, that ends my turn." Mautra lands on the roof and heads inside, sneaking past people until she sees her name displayed on the list of people dueling, as well as who her opponent is, and where she is to duel her. She runs up to the room, and steps inside to see a young blonde-haired woman in a white gi with her Ra Yellow uniform around her waist, like a belt. The young woman, Elisha, does a few martial arts moves as she states. "Aha! My foe approaches!" Strangely, what she is saying and what her mouth actually seems to say are to completely different things, and her voice, which sounds much older than she actually is, comes from all around instead of from where she is. "You will be defeated by me, and I will be able to avenge my family!" Mautra hesitates, a large drop of sweat forming on the back of her head as she nervously takes a dueling stance. "Well...let's go then..." Mautra meakly states. "Let us do battle!" Elisha retorts.
Elisha draws her card. "I shall go first, and I activate Reinforcement, adding a Warrior-Type monster to my hand!"
Mautra seemed confused. "Wait...isn't Reinforcements a Trap Card?"
Elisha replied, a bit irritated. "No. That is Reinforcement of the Army, a Trap Card. I am activating Reinforcement, a Spell Card."
Mautra sighed. "Continue."
"I will add Troop Commander to my hand, who I will then Normal Summon in Attack Mode!" A battle-scarred knight with two swords jumped onto the field with a grunt. (1200 DEF|LV3)
"Don't you mean...Marauding Captain?" Mautra wondered, correcting Elisha.
"That is what I said. Troop Commander." Elisha replied, continuing her turn. "I will then Special Summon Rose, Warrior Lady of Revenge due to Troop Commander's effect!" The knight raised his sword and issued a battle-cry, allowing for a red-haired woman clad in a blue bodysuit to dash onto the field, adding to his battle-cry. (1600 ATK|LV4|Tuner)
"I don't think there's a 'Lady' in her name..." Mautra corrected.
Elisha looked annoyed. "Why are you correcting my cards? I am simply reading their text!" She displayed the cards to Mautra, which seemed off-color and had a different type of text, like they were counterfeit, or simply poorly-made props for a low-budget production.
Mautra just decided to ignore it. "Keep going..."
Elisha resumed her turn. "Now, I will Tune Rose and my Commander together!" Rose cried out as she jumped into the air, turning into 4 green rings, which the knight followed, becoming 3 stars. "When two blades meet, the blade of loyalty will appear here! Answer to me! Synchro Summon! Appear now, Determined Daredevil!"
Mautra facepalmed, simply not caring anymore as the array erupted into a silver-haired warrior with green armor, a black face-mask, and twin katanas. (2400 ATK|LV7)
"Now only a battle against a monster with the same ATK as my Daredevil can kill him! I will activate The Warrior Returning Alive to add Troop Commander back to my hand, then end my turn!"

"...I draw..." Mautra stated, beginning her turn. "...And I activate Trade-In, sending Hieroglyph Seal of the Divine Dragon to my Graveyard to draw 2 cards..." She plays the card, discarding a Normal Monster to pick up 2 cards from her Deck. "Next...I Special Summon Hieroglyph Dragon - Tfeni Dragon...in Attack Mode..." She placed a monster on her Duel Disk, and a huge armored dragon with golden armor and a glowing body appeared. (2100 ATK|LV6) "Next...I Tribute Tfeni to Special Summon Hieroglyph Dragon - Nepthe Dragon...also in Attack Mode..." The large dragon disappeared to be replaced by another golden-armored dragon, though this one was glowing purple instead of white, and she had a slender, feminine frame. (2000 ATK|LV5) "However...when Tfeni is Tributed...he can Special Summon a Dragon-Type Normal Monster with 0 ATK and DEF from my Deck, and I choose Hieroglyph Statue of the Divine Dragon...in Defense Mode..." A large golden statue of a bird-like dragon appears, but with a red symbol on its chest. (0 DEF|LV6)
"Ah ha ha ha ha!" Elisha laughed awkwardly. "You summon such a weak, worthless monster? It cannot do anything!"
"It's...it's not weak..." Mautra blushes, a bit upset. "I now Normal Summon Hieroglyph Dragon - Aset Dragon...in Attack Mode...but her Attack Points become 1000..." A dragon that appeared to be a twin of Nepthe, but with pink glowing areas instead of purple, appeared in a flash of pink light. (1900 ATK|LV5) (1900 ATK -> 1000 ATK)
"Another weak little monster!" Elisha chuckled.
"No...I...Nepthe's effect! I activate her effect, Tributing Aset to destroy your Daredevil!" Nepthe glowed brightly as Aset turned into a pink beam that blasted the warrior. "And when Aset is Tributed, I can Special Summon another Statue!" A second golden statue appeared on the field.
Elisha's eyes widened at the destruction of her "defense". "No! This cannot be! I will be unable to avenge my family!"
"Shut up, you Hong Kong hack!" Mautra snapped, growling angrily. "I will create an Overlay network with these 2 monsters! Xyz Summon! Appear from the past hidden in the sands of time, Hieroglyph Dragon King - Atumus!"
A red swirling portal formed in front of her, which her Statues, having been transformed into 2 golden beams, entered, allowing for a huge golden dragon with black glowing portions to emerge and roar magnificently as a pair of orbs lazily circled him. (2400 ATK|RNK6|2 XM)
"Now, my monsters, attack her directly!" Both Nepthe and Atumus fired energy beams at Elisha, cutting her Life Points in half in one fell swoop. (Elisha: 3600 LP)
"I set a face-down card, and end my turn!"

If this card gains attack by the effect of a field spell, multiply that amount by four. Negate the effect of monsters destroyed by battle by your "Angel" monsters.

Then the Chancellor approached the duel between Mautra and Elisha, then thought, "Elle... What in the world are you doing... You're supposed to duel, not showing off Kung Fu moves... Ugh...." before moving off to a different arena with J.C and Yazid dueing each other. "Well, this duel is kinda what I'm expecting..." Ron whispered to himself, as he smuggled the Xyz card he found in the Musical Theatre Hall, 'No. 34 Terror Byte' and sneakily placed it in Yazid's trouser pocket without him knowing, before heading outside to check on his Duel Runner. When Ron approached the arena, he found that his Duel Runner was being towed to the garage after reading his fine. "Fined... 5000 GOLD!? Sh*t me! This bastard's gonna get it!" Ron thought, before seeing the person who took the Duel Runner to the garage, and shouted at the bloke, "Hey! I was drying my Duel Runner because I've painted it, dumbass!" Surely, he didn't mean to fine Ron, but he approached him, and took the fine off him, and ripped it up. He didn't say anything to Ron, but just walked off, signifying that he should not park his Duel Runner at the kerb in the future. Ron walked off, back inside his office, and observing the duel in all areas. "Well, well... Aviv and Chris are dueling fine in the Main Hall, however, the wave will appear any moment now..." Ron predicted. At the Main Hall, though, as Ron predicted, the wave started appearing from underneath the two duelists, and drenched the two of them altogether.

"Mow that that's over with, I can detach one of its Materials to send my 'Starshot Raptor' and 'Starshot Brain' from my Deck to the Grave. Now I can add the one and only 'Starshot Dragon' to my hand! And guess what? I'm bringing it out by Banishing my 'Brain', my 'Raptor', and my 'Paladin!' Meet MY Ace monster, 'Starshot Dragon'!!!"

A huge, majestic dragon rose out of the ground. It seemed that light emanated from its very scales.

"I might not be able to destroy your monster now, but soon you will face wrath of Starshot Dragon! I'll finish with a face-down."

Sena was running for her life it seemed, almost flying down the street. She'd been staying in New Domino for a few days now, at a local hotel not close from Gold Academy so that she'd not miss the grand opening. And yet here she was, running like a gazelle across the pavement. "Never, in my life, have I met a human who is so hard to wake!" "Well excuse me for spending half the night rebuilding my deck for the entrance exams, now are you gonna let me concentrate on running or do you want me to fall over too?" She stood outside the front gate of Gold Academy, catching her breath. "Hope I'm not too late." Void Dragon appeared next to her again, looking somewhat worried. "They're here. How can they here?" "Who's here? The Immortals?" Void Dragon simply nodded in response and proceeded to float up the nearby stairs. "Hey, wait up." She managed to catch up with Void Dragon who had stopped at a large door. "This must be the main hall!" Sena tried pulling the handles, but the door didn't budge. She glanced at Void Dragon. "You're saying there's an Immortal in there?" She looked back at the door. "Yes, and maybe not just one, even two." Sena's eyes widened in surprise. "What!? Two, how's that even possible.?" I activate Reborn tengu's effect. I special summon a second Reborn Tengu from my deck to my field.
"Ah, now I must thank you, Kozaku," Wolfram replied with a smirk. "Since you've just Special Summoned a Level 4 monster, I can now Special Summon Tech Genex Warwolf from my hand into Defense Position!" As soon as his opponent's Tengu appeared, so too did a brown fur, feral-looking wolf creature, whose right arm was replaced with a mechanical facsimile. "In addition, since I've just Special Summoned a "wolf" monster, I can now Special Summon this: Pack of Wolves, also in Defense Position!" A group of three wild wolves appeared by the T.G. Warwolf's side. With this move, however, Wolfram was now down to two cards in his hand: Terror Lycan, which was bounced by Brionac's effect, and one other card. "As you can see, regardless of how terrible the situation may be, a wolf pack always sticks together."

Of course, Wolfram thought to himself, Kozaku might try and bounce another one of my monsters again, but I doubt that he'll waste the last remaining card in his hand for that.

... I still can't believe he's using Mark's dragon, though....

As soon as he realized that Kozaku had ended his turn, Wolfram decided to make his counter-offensive. "I draw! Next, I'll activate the Trap Card, Call of the Hunt! With this, I can Special Summon a Level 6 or lower wolf-based monster from my Deck by discarding 1 other wolf-based monster from my hand. So, I'll discard the Terror Lycan that you had so kindly returned to my hand, in order to Special Summon Farkas, Moonsworn Archer from my Deck!" A bright light radiated from Wolfram's Deck as Farkas took his position on the field, bow and arrow prepared. (ATK/2000) (if no response) "Next, I'll activate, from my hand, the Fusion-Based Spell Card, Wolf Spirit Fusion! Now, by banishing the appropriate Fusion Materials from my side of the field or Grave, I can Fusion Summon a wolf-based Fusion Monster! So now, I'll banish T.G. Warwolf from my field for the "wolf-based" material, and Terror Lycan from my Grave for the "DARK-Attribute" material. Come forth, Dark Moon Lycan!" Out from the swirling mist created by the souls of the banished materials, a black werewolf with red markings and a black coat stepped forth. (ATK/2400)

"Now, before I enter the Battle Phase, I'll have Farkas activate his special ablility; once per turn, in exchange for being unable to attack, Farkas can inflict 200 damage to my opponent for every monster currently on the field. Both you and I currently control three monsters each, so 200 multiplied by six equals a total of 1200 damage headed your way. Farkas, do your thing! Moonstorm Rain!" Farkas pulled out six arrows from the quiver attached to his hip, then combined them before loading the new complete arrow into his bow, aiming it directly at Kozaku. A glint in Farkas' good eye signalled his intent; the arrow flew straight and true, breaking apart into six beams of light which struck Kozaku dead-on. (if no response; Kozaku LP=2600)

"Now, I'll activate, from my hand, the Field Spell, Might of the Moon, which grants all wolf-based monsters an additional 300 Attack Points!" With this move, Wolfram was out of cards in the hand. "With that, I'll now enter the Battle Phase. I should first mention that during the Battle Phase, the effects of my opponent's Traps are negated while I have Dark Moon Lycan on the field. Anyways, I'll make my first attack with Dark Moon Lycan, and his first victim shall be... Brionac! Attack with Eclipsing Darkside!" (if no response) Dark Moon Lycan held up a hand, charging up a dark-red energy aimed at the Ice Barrier Dragon. Once the charging was complete, Dark Moon unleashed all of its energy at Brionac, striking it and covering it with markings similar to the ones on Dark Moon Lycan's fur. (Lycan ATK: 2700 [2400+300] - Brionac ATK: 2300 = 400 Damage. Kozaku LP = 2200) Oddly, though, the Ice Barrier Dragon was not destroyed.

"Another effect possessed by my Dark Moon Lycan," Wolfram explained, "is that when it battles a monster, its opponent does not get destroyed by battle, and instead has its Attack Power decreased by 600." (Brionac ATK = 2300 - 600 = 1700).

Not that it'll do much for me, Wolfram thought, but it was worth a shot.

"With that, Kozaku, I'll end my turn, so be certain that use can turn this around."

"WOLFRAM, WATCH OUT!!"

"... it's fine, Wulf. The child still has much to learn...," Wolfram told his Duel Spirit with an oddly calm smile. "Quick-Play Spell Card, open! Book of Moon!" In an instant, Cerberus' attack slowed down and fizzled out of existence just as it was an inch or two away from his face. At the same time, the Guardian of Hell was forced to kneel before the light radiating from the Book of Moon, soon to be replaced by an image of a face-down card.

The Lightsworn looked as if he were about to pass out from the stress. "... Wolfram... you did it. You managed to stop his attack!"

Despite his Duel Spirit's excitement, Wolfram himself seemed to have gone slightly pale in the face. Without waiting for Kozaku to declare the end of his turn, Wolfram drew the next card of his Deck, then revealed it to Kozaku. "... the next card I would have drawn was Roll of Fate. By activating this, a six-sided die would be rolled and, depending on the result, I would draw cards equal to that result, then sent that same number of cards from the top of my Deck to the Grave. ... now, let's say, hypothetically, that the result of the die would have been 4," Wolfram continued, drawing four cards from his Deck and revealing them to Kozaku: the cards were "Gene-Warped Warwolf", "Synthesis Spell", "Pack of Wolves" and "Lycanthrope". Then, Wolfram picked up the next four cards of his Deck--the four that would have been sent to the Graveyard: "Rescue Wolf", "Three Wolf Moon", "Wulf, Lightsworn Beast" and "Lycan Synchron".

"... as a result of this, Wulf would be summoned from the Graveyard by his own effect," Wolfram explained, holding one hand to his forehead as if having a headache. "Then, I would have Special Summoned a Pack of Wolves from either my hand or Graveyard. If I had wanted, I would then make further moves just for the hell of it, but the truth is that those two monsters would have won the duel for me by themselves; first, Pack of Wolves would have attacked your face-down Cerberus and easily destroyed it, due to Cerberus' non-existent Defense Power. Then, it would have only taken one attack from Wulf to bring the rest of your Life Points to zero....

"... of course, that is only... if I was willing to continue with this duel," Wolfram admitted. "However, I'm feeling a bit under-the-weather now, and thus, I'm afraid, I will not be able to finish the rest of this duel. What I am saying, Kozaku," Wolfram concluded, "is that, regardless of the outcome of this duel, you'll have passed. Congradulations," he finished with a weak-looking smile. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go have a lie-down at the infirmary...." With that, Wolfram proceeded to leave the arena, trying to keep his balance as he made his way to a nearby nurse....

A small, blue serpentine creature hit the battlefield. It hissed like a snake, but it had dinosaur-like teeth, spikes along its body and a small pair of wings. It almost looked nothing like a snake, especially with two feet near the end of its tail.

"AHAHAHAHA!!! I WON! I WON! I don't care even if i won because my opponent doesn't feel right, a win is a win! Nothing more, nothing less! AHAHAHAHA- AAAAAARRGGHHH" Before Kozaku could finish his sentence, the purple aura surrounding him is forcibly taken away from him. The dark aura then enters the card "Great Guardian of Hell - Cerberus" and makes it glow dark. The process seemed extraordinarily painful as it manages to cause Kozaku to fall on his knees while screaming in pain. "Urghhh.... My chest hurts... What.. What happened? Last thing i remembered was dueling that Wolfram guy and summoning three Synchro monsters... What happened after that...." Kozaku is on the edge of blacking out. His body was worn out physically and mentally from the previous battle. A large cloud of purple aura then appeared beside him and then took the form of a darker, more evil version of Kozaku himself. This "Kozaku" has purple hair, wears a black matsuri, and red, glowing eyes. "Don't worry about such things. You won fair and square. Isn't that what you want? Winning is all you care about, right? So don't worry about it and go with the flow...." "Who are you?! Get out of my head!" "Ooh.. No need to be so uptight now.. You see, I am you and You are me. I am you... I'm here to help you with all your problems... You hate losing, right? No... You're afraid of losing. That's why i'm here, to help you win."

"NO! Stop saying things i don't understand! I don't need you! I want to win using my own powers! Get out of my head!!" "Stop resisting so much... Do i have to tell you again? You and I are one alike, one being. If you want me to begone, you're just gonna have to kill yourself. Simple isn't it? Well, until then, i will stay here in your mind... I'll be here if you need me. Whether you want it or not...." "No! Nononononono!! Get out of my head! Leave me alone! I don't need you!" Evil Kozaku then faded into nothingness. Leaving Kozaku with imbalanced and destroyed emotions. The "Evil Kozaku" Is actually the Spirit of the card "Great Guardian of Hell - Cerberus." Normally, the spirit stays dormant inside the card, but the spirit will be awakened when its owner had a strong will to win. The spirit then possess its owner and takes the form of an "Evil" version of themselves in the owner's mind. The more the owner wants to win, the more the card possesses them. Until eventually, the owner's soul will be less dominant of their body and make their "Evil" version more dominant. "Well, i still won. Now i'll just have to make my way to the main hall and wait there." Kozaku then picked his cards and duel disk up andwalked towards the main hall. "Kehehehe... Just as planned..." Evil Kozaku still lurks inside Kozaku's mind. Waiting until he can resurface again.
