BT
This is a retarded and conceited question, but I must know the answer! xDD been linearting for almost exactly a year

*NOTE* Coincidentally both were for the same person xDD
burnpsy
Serious question? I mean, it's fairly obvious after just 3 seconds.
so whats the answer? I like the older one imo (no kidding) 3 seconds O.o took me a minuteoh, got it..... burnpsy
Looking strictly at skill level, the first one looks like amateur work while the second is nice and smooth, where the first looks bad for the image and the second is appropriate. .Rai
The obvious answer is, yes, your linearting has gotten much better. Can't help but think that it would look better with a thinner line, but that's probably just the style I'm used to when I look at other artists, especially on dA. .Rai
I've always used a .14 thickness because of how GIMP works pixel-wise, but somewhere between .15 and .2 sounds good. Also, by hand or by tablet, because I initially thought this was pentooling o_o
BT
I'm actually using a tablet-laptop convertable (no joke) but i dont have a pen... (are the lines smooth for u to think I was pen toolin... so .14, ... K! i'll make a test pic and post!
.Rai
It may be just a bit too thin for this style, but I've personally never seen before, so it would be nice to see. And, yeah, they're really smooth. Like, reaaaallly smooth.

.Rai
Well, I actually meant I've never seen manga/anime styles with really thin lines Manga is usually a style with exuberant contrasting lineart, so somewhere in between looks cool. I think that .2 is a tiny bit too thick, and .14 is probably too thin for what you're doing (pretty sure .14 is the official thickness of Pokémon arts) and .16 is where it starts to change substantially. Makes sense for you to choose .16 :
