I will try to watch, but honestly don't think I can. Is there an English version/dub?

Could somebody please help me learn the game a little better? I know the basics, but it's just the details that I am unsure of....
E.G. When can a Vanguard be or not be attacked? Like when you have no Rearguards?

Why on earth would you want to watch the English version? It's godawful.

Ask any number of questions you feel should be answered. I'll answer every one.
Vanguards can always be attacked during your Battle Phase. You don't have to have a Rearguard. For the attack to hit, just make sure your Unit's power exceeds the opposing Vanguard's.

Thank you very much.

Since it can be attacked at any time, is there a way to defend it with another one of your Units?

You can watch with subtitles! o:
Plus, there's only 3 episode of the Singapore Dub available in horrid quality on Youtube.

To answer your next question, you can defend units in two ways: Regular Guarding or Intercept.
You can take units from your hand and put them in the Guardian Circle to defend. Their shield number is added onto the unit's power your defending. Grade 3s have no shields, you can throw down as many as you feel like, and you can't use a guard that has a higher Grade than your Vanguard.
Intercept is an ability for Grade 2s that let them move from the front row to the Guardian Circle.
Then there are 0 Shield Units that completely block an attack. Just have a Vanguard of the same clan, and discard one from the same clan.

Goddammit, I need to learn how to summarize stuff.

Oh, right... *facehammer multiple times*

Thanks. I think that I have a lot of everything else down for now, but what kind of Deck or clan should a beginner like me use? Is a deck with Phantom Blaster Overlord any good?

Since you're a beginner, stay away from Kagero and Shadow Paladin. PBO is good, but Shadow Paladins focus on precise timing and are usually more advanced.

Start out with Royal Paladins, Oracle Think Tank, or... Nova Grapplers. Those are the most straightforward builds. idk about OTT. I'm only saying that because I started with it.

Actually Kagero is a good deck for beginners[its the deck i started on when there was only 1 pack and 2 triak decks to work with on CC]. If you go with the old fashion builds namely the retire kagero and not Ji endo version. As its stragety is kill your opponent's junk and beat the crap out of them.

Shelds, you're in.

I started with Royals, which I'd say are the easiest to start with since SSD/Alfred builds are rather straightforward and all you really need to think about is when you want to Soulblast. I would not recommend MLB since while it is good, starting with a hybrid doesn't really seem a good idea. However, if you want to use the Galahad chain, I suppose you could try it. I'm just going of my experience since when I started, Barcgal had just been banned, so after surprising everyone with that news I played two games with Guraimu and then switch to Galahads. But since you have Wingal Brave as a starter for regular Royals and you haven't watched the anime, I'd say just go with the straightforward build, as those are generally the best for beginners.
