As Caden returned Milotic to its Pokeball, he was approached by a boy around his age and his purple and black-colored Pokemon. He identified it as a Lampent. The boy gave a greeting, and Caden smiled back. "Caden Azure, pleasure to meet you" he replied to the greeting.
"And to answer your question, yes, I am on my way to the Terramean Gym" he continued as he placed Milotic's Pokeball in his bag.
"So, you being here means that you earned the Seed Badge already from Shibi?" Caden asked as he walked towards Rose.

Rose smiled. "Yeah, I actually did. It was pretty easy with my buddy here." Rose looked around and saw that the area was pretty devoid of life, aside from a few Maractus and Cacturne duking it out a bit away.
"So, random question, but...Do you want to battle? A little 2-on-2? I mean, we won't get much experience if we just battle the Gyms; we won't stand a chance against the Elite Four. Plus, I hear there's someone from Hoenn here that's supposed to be really powerful, and we don't want to lose to him, right?"

Caden thought for a moment and grinned. "Right, of course not" he replied in an agreeing manner, stifling a snicker. He took several steps backwards to create a fair distance between himself and Rose. "Well, then...shall we start?" he asked as he reached into his bag. "Now, the question remains - which do I use? Should I keep Milotic from battling? But he's already seen it... I guess my choice is clear then" he thought for a minute before grasping two Pokeballs. He held them up and hurled them into the air. "Milotic, Sigilyph, Spotlight!" he called as the two spheres burst out in the air, releasing two streams of white light. The lights dissipated to reveal the Caden's familiar serpent-like Pokemon as well as the one-eyed flying Pokemon. "The first move's all yours" Caden called to Rose.

"Right, okay, this'll be fun." Rose took a moment to think. Alright, all of my Pokémon have the upper-hand against Sigilyph, but Lampent and Aron stand no chance against Milotic...
"Okay, Scraggy, Lampent, you're up!" Lampent positioned himself in front of Rose, and Scraggy emerged in a burst of light. "And since we've been graced with the honor of the first move...Scraggy, use Dragon dance and keep your distance from both Pokémon! And Lampent, use Psychic to creat a sandstorm and blast it with an Inferno!"
Scraggy started stomping, kicking, waving his arms, and bobbing his head rapidly, and a spiral of sand and red-and-blue energy rose around him. He then shot around the battlefield in a blur, his Speed and Attack at maximum. Meanwhile, Lampent's eyes started glowing blue. A massive tornado of sand rose around Caden's Milotic, obscuring it from view and shooting ever-skyward. Lampent then formed a ball of blue flame between its hands. He placed the flame atop his head and turned horizontally, then spun rapidly, releasing a massive spiraling stream of blue flame at the sand tornado, instantly turning it to thick glass.
Good, that should hold off Milotic for a bit, allowing Lampent and Scraggy to focus on Sigilyph...

When Ashmin awoke, neither Ryn nor Tyla were awake. In the case of Ryn, the calm, brave one, it was hardly surprising. She was generally rather obedient. With Tyla, it was a surprise he hadn't woken yet. He was a flower with energy. And not many trainers could say that.
Stifiling a yawn, Ashmin sat up and stretched. Tyla's faint perfume filled the air, which was lovely. Assisted with light, it gave the dorm a slight idyllic feel. With Ashmin's mindset, that would help her write an analysis of Gradnis Forest. Perhaps, if she had time, she could also phone Professor Elm and ask about Sun. Hopefully she was better. Hopefully.
I'll make that priority. Ryn would want to know anyway. Best satisfy the curiousity of both rather than simply myself. Then I'll tell Ryn when she wakes up.
Mind made, she swung her legs over the side of the bed, and stifled another yawn. Gradnis Forest must have taken more out of her than she thought, if she still felt the exhaustion it had forced upon her.
She rubbed her eyes, and felt for her glasses. No sense in calling Elm blind. Then again, there was no known way she'd get the phone if she was blind. Or call him at all. Her movement was limited when she couldn't see.

A few moments later, she was staring down at her Pokegear, into the smiling, shy face of her Professor Elm.
"Good of you to call Ashmin." he was saying. "Good of you to call."
Ashmin smiled. "Good to see you too Elm. I've been meaning to ask since I arrived, how is Sun? Is she feeling better?"
His smile faded slightly. "Still no respomse, I'm afraid. But the readings we're getting say that Sun is almost fully recovered. Once we get there, it is simply the amtter of waking her up."
"How's Tea? Surely he's not taking Sun's illness well."
"Tea's the same. Poor thing is still crying. And Sun was struck down a weekor so ago. So it is a bit odd."
Ashmin thought for a moment. "Bring him into the lab. I want to talk to him for a moment. I'm sure my presence - however digital - would help him. Not to mention Ryn's appearance."
Elm nodded. "Of course I'll bring him in." Turning away, he called out to Tea, telling him to come in. There was a sobbing roar in reply. And an Emboar wandered sadly into view.
His face, however, lit up slightly upon seeing Ashmin's face.
"Good to see you Tea." She smiled. Tea roared happily, and some of his tears dried up. "I'll expect you want to see Ryn, don't ya Tea?"
Without waiting for a reply, Ashmin nudged Ryn, and directed the Pokegear in her direction.
Despite being half asleep, Ryn cried out happily at the sight of her father, and the flames on her back flared in greeting. Tea's flames also flared, albiet brighter than Ryn's.
For a few moments, they communicated over Pokegear. Then Elm bought the reunion to a close.
"I'm sure you will call again, won't you?"
" 'Course Professor. And next time, I'll have notes on the enviroment of Cygrus, and information on the Evraflow Conference."
Elm smiled. "Best of luck Ashmin."
"Bye Elm."

"That would make for a nice appeal" Caden thought as Milotic became shrouded by the flaming sand. "But, due to him targeting Milotic with such an attack, he must be planning to focus his attacks on Sigilyph. Not a bad strategy, but..." Caden thought before raising his right arm. "Milotic, Dragonmetal Shower! Sigilyph, stay back and use Calm Mind!" he declared before giving a short snap. Immediately, as Sigilyph flew away from the sandstorm, Milotic started up an Iron Tail from inside the tornado and fired off a turquoise Dragon Pulse, creating an explosion from high up inside the tornado. Suddenly, there were flashes of blue and silver light, and the tornado burst apart, dissipating on contact with the countless glowing shards. "Now, Sigilyph, use an enhanced Psychic to control the energy storm and redirect it towards Lampent and Scraggy!" Caden called as Sigilyph's eye glowed a bright blue. Suddenly, all the energy shards circling around Milotic dashed across the field, ending up floating right above the opposing Pokemon. The countless shards of energy proceeded to crash downwards toward the Lampent and Scraggy.

"Ah! Lampent, I think it's time we use our ace-in-the-hole already! Go, and use Purgatorio!"
Lampent formed a blue flame between his hands and placed it atop his head. Then he spun at an alrming rate, releasing a spiraling tornado of blue flames into the sky. As he spun, he pulled in his arms and formed a massive Shadow Ball and shot it into the burning tornado, causing it to turn a blackish-purple color. Finally, Lampent used Psychic to turn the entire thing into a massive dragon of black-violet flames which raced toward the oncoming blast, exploding upon impact.
Rose was fired up, and it was definitely showing. "Now Scraggy, use Faint Attack and Thunder Punch on Sigilyph!"
Scraggy cocked his arm back and yellow electricity formed around it. Then, he jumped through the cloud of smoke and thrust his electrified fist at the bird Pokémon.
There's no way I'll survive an attack like that again...Lampent's already exhausted, and Scraggy is nowhere near as powerful as either of these Pokémon...

Silver entered Gradnis Forest and already he had a worried look on his face as he knew that he was get lost at some point. He looked around, taking in the scenery seeing various pokemon including Weedle, Budew, Slakoth and a few Beautifly and Dustox. Silver thought it would be a good time to train Totodile, he commanded it to water gun the trees, however he accidentily sprayed a mysterious figure in the bushes, and he ran away.

He later tracked down the mysterious stranger running in the forest, so Silver thought about doing some investigating by asking what he was doing. He shouted at the guy,
"Hey! what are you doing?"
The mystery guy was almost startled, however instead of running away he decided to come out into the open,
"And who might you be?"
Silver introduced himself to the mystery guy who revealed himself to be Desu Crosstar, a member of Cygrus Elite 4.
"So what are you doing here?" Silver asked
"Can you keep a secret?" Desu whispered as he replied to Silver's question, Silver nodded as Desu continued his explanation, "You see, I heard from various residents of Gradnis City, that a Larvesta had gotten itself lost in this forest. The poor thing had gotten separated from its friends over in Magma Forest, and ended up being washed up over here. One of Gradnis' residents found it and wanted to nurse it back to health, and by the time it was fully recovered it had run away and found shelter in this forest, now are you willing to help me find it?"
Silver agreed to Desu's proposal and both set off to find the stary Larvesta

"Launching two combination attacks like that...perhaps a bit reckless?" Caden thought, glancing at each Pokemon as Lampent and Scraggy readied their attacks. "Lampent's attack...uses fire as a base move, with an additional Shadow Ball for force, while Scraggy combines the power of Thunderpunch with the perfect accuracy of Faint Attack." Caden analyzed quickly before deciding his moves. "First, for Scraggy, Faint Attack prevents Sigilyph from dodging, so I have to counter. However, having Scraggy leave the ground was his mistake..." he thought as he looked up leafed at Sigilyph. "Sigilyph, shoot Air Slash now!" Caden commanded as Sigilyph let out a barrage of clear-bluish blades of energy. The blades shot at Scraggy who was closing in on Sigilyph. "Now, for Lampent..." he thought as Lampent's attack was released. The purple fire dragon came charging straight at Milotic. "Milotic, give it an Aqua Tornado!" Caden declared as Milotic prepared itself. First, the serpent created a Twister using it's tail, then followed it up with a Hydro Pump through the twister. Lastly, as icing on the cake, Milotic let out a Blizzard into the twister - the end result was a massive, spiraling tornado which charged with tremendous force, shooting out spikes of ice and water at everything in it's path.

Silver and Desu continued looking for the Larvesta in Gradnis Forest. Both of them agreed to have a conversation on the way to make the excursion less boring.
"Do you think that, whatever made the Larvesta end up here was a complete accident?" Silver asked
"That is quite a conundrum." Desu answered with a look that signalled that he didn't know all the answers yet "However once we find it, i can use my Volcarona to ask it how it got here."

Both trainers kept searching and searching however it was to no avail. Silver then looked up Larvesta on the pokedex to see if that can provide hints to where Larvesta would be hiding or how they can figure out where Larvesta was. Then, from out of nowhere, a fire had struck out to the west of where Silver and Desu were, and a resident of Gradnis Town had come running shouting fire, fire in a panicky manner. This however didn't faze Silver or Desu as they both said Larvesta to each other at the same time and started running to the source of the fire.
When they got there a couple of minutes later, Silver immediately sent out his Totodile to use Water Gun and douse the fire, Desu called out for help by blowing into a leaf, and just then a group of Masquerain came flying in and used Water Pulse on the fire.
When the fire was put out, Desu and Silver crept towards the sleeping Larvesta and when they got close enough, Desu sent out Volcarona to communicate with Larvesta
"Volca, Volca" "Larv? Larvesta!!" Larvesta leapt towards Volcarona thinking it was one of his friends, Desu explained that it wasn't which saddened Larvesta, but Larvesta continued to communicate anyway whilst Silver got out his pokedex and used the experimental translator system.
"According to this, Larvesta was kicked out of his home by a group of renegade Darumakka and Darmanitan. It got washed out to sea and ended up here, and it said it only created the fire as a means of self defence." Silver said from what the pokedex had translated. Desu was impressed at Silver's ingenuity and suggested that Silver capture the Lavesta. At first Silver was iffy on the thought, but Desu convinced him to take Larvesta with him, as he thought that he couldn't take care of it because of training and such, thus Silver got out a pokeball and some pokemon food to tempt Larvesta to come with him, Larvesta waddled into the pokeball *nudge 1, nudge 2, nudge 3* Larvesta was caught.

About 2 hours of getting lost later, Silver and Desu had reached the exit. Desu offered to stay in the forest for more training and Silver nodded his head in agreement and as he left the forest he put one hand up, looked to Desu and waved at him.

"Scraggy!" Scraggy was hit head-on with the Air Slash before Faint attack would have allowed him to teleport behind Sigllyph, sending him crashing to the ground. Rose looked down at the crater next to him. There lie Scraggy, defeated. "Urgh...Return..."
Rose then turned to Lampent. "It's up to you now, buddy..." Then, an idea struck Rose. Without a doubt, he was going to lose, but there might still be a way to take down Milotic..."Lampent, use Flamethrower on the ground near Milotic!"
Lampent oblidged, firing a stream of flames from his mouth, slowly causing the sand particles to melt together into glass. Also, the now glassy ground exuded heat, which would further dry the already arid desert air, all hopefully resulting in a very tired and dried-out Milotic.
"Now, use Black Smog!" Lampent formed a blackish-purple ball between its hands, and produced a thick vapor from its mouth, causing the sphere of dark energy to dissipate and turn the vapor into an eerie fog. The fog crept toward the opposing Pokémon, seeking to eliminate them with deadly, indiscriminate efficiency. "Thanks to the properties of Clear Smog, this move won't miss, and your Sigilyph's Calm Mind boosts will be negated. Also, the Shadow Ball mixed in will hopefully increase this moves power dramatically, especially against Sigilyph!"
I'm gonna lose, no doubt...But oh well, it was fun while it lasted...

Judas Renict stood atop the tower that housed the Cygrus Pokémon League. A calm breeze floated by, and it had the fresh, salty scent of seawater. "Well, Eelektross, what do you think?"
"Eel...Eelektross!" The EleFish Pokémon roared, electricity sparking around its claws and fangs, and its pattern flashing brilliantly.
"Yes, I suppose that is right...We do need to battle someone...We've been faced with quite the dry spell. I mean, our last challenger was that boy from Veilstone City...Paul, was it? He was pathetic. Sure, his Electivire gave us a run for our money...For about two minutes. His brother would have been a much more formidable opponent, but he retired from battling following his loss to Brandon..." The Elite Four member heaved a sigh. "So boring..."

"I see what you're trying to do, but trying to dry put Milotic won't do you much good" Caden mused as he watched Lampent's display. "Now, Milotic, Rain Dance!" Caden commanded as Milotic's body glowed blue. Shortly after, dark clouds formed overhead, releasing rain on the battlefield. The dark smoke started to clear, leaving only remains from the Shadow Ball that was mixed in. "That Shadow Ball is going to make attacking Lampent directly a pain, since he's basically created a shadowy wall between our Pokemon. But, since there's rain out..." Caden thought as he gave a slight smirk "Sigilyph, Thunder!" Caden called, as Sigilyph let out an electric stream into the air. The dark clouds above crackled, and a huge thunderbolt came down crashing down towards Lampent.

"LAMPENT!" Rose shouted. Lampent tried to put up a Protect instinctively, but due to the influence of rain, the Thunder shattered the barrier and struck Lampent dead-on, knocking him out. "Ah...Lampent, return..." The red retrieval beam shot out from the ball and enveloped the Pokémon, pulling it back in.
Rose tried to smile, but it was in vain; there was no masking his disappointment. "That was fun. We should battle again sometime."
The rain pounded down on Rose's head and shoulders, the perfect accent to this crushing defeat. However, he was already starting to feel better. Adding to his previous comment, Rose said: "How about after another Gym Battle? Like, say, after the Rockius Gym?" Rose was excited at the possible prospect of a rival, especially one so strong as Caden. Rose knew that this battle with Caden will drive him to achieve and become stronger...No more laid-back attitude; he was going all out from now on.

— — —

Judas looked out over the Alluvium Desert. Some storm clouds had formed overhead, and he saw a wicked thunderbolt drop from one of them.
"Hmm...Interesting...Then again, it's only in Alluvium, so probably not worth my while anyway..."
With that, Judas descended once again into the Evraflow Tower, and retreated to his floor, where the rest of his Pokémon resided while he visited the Observation Deck on a regular basis.
"So dull..."

Levia Bridge. Kriya had to admit that the view was nice.

Ouryu was less amused, gripping onto the human's neck like a furry necklace to avoid the rushing waters below. Sure, Ouryu was relatively modern, but it appeared that even she had a difficult wrapping her head around the idea of a bridge spanning an entire ocean being stable. Kriya didn't blame her terribly. To the water, they were but specks flecking the shell of the world- insignificant insects in the grand scheme of things, who-

KRIYA

-why did he always break the flow of her philosophizing? She cocked her head to the side.

"What now," she asked with a sigh. Amut, of course, wasn't there- he was safely in his pokeball, storing his power or whatever. Even so, he had the irritating habit of inserting himself into conversations where he realistically shouldn't have been able to.

YOU ARE LEAVING YOUR FACE UNMASKED. WHY.

She rolled her eyes and tried to stop herself from scoffing. Amut had more than a few ludicrous demands, and she was usually fine with following them to make him shut up. Others, however, were simply impractical.

"I'm traveling," she said simply, "and I don't want to stand out by wearing a big black mask. Deal with it for now. Not like anyone important is here."

YOUR DISRESPECT FAILS TO AMUSE ME, HUMAN.

Well of course. He WOULD be one to confuse reasonability with humor. "Mhmhm" is what she said, of course. It didn't pay to be particularly lippy with Amut. Best case scenario, you could shut up and ignore him for a while and he'd eventually lose interest.

Tyla was finally awake, which was actually a relief for Ashmin. He and Ryn got along amazingly. Their happy play gave Ashmin an excuse to write in her journal about Gradnis Forest, and also the gym battle to come. She promised to herself that she would write all about the gym itself afterwards, and possibly even draw a map of the maze she heard was inside. But that was probably pointless. It was probably changed regularly by Shibi. Such mapping would then only be useful for a short period.
She signed her work in her curvy scrawl, and tucked the journal into her bag.
“C’mon guys!” she declared. “We’re gonna challenge the Gradnis Gym, and get that badge!”

To Ashmin, Ryn and Tyla, Gradnis Gym was essentially a jungle. In more ways than one.
For Ryn, she was worried. It was all too similar to Gradnis Forest, which she now loathed. All because of Fearow. At any moment, she expected a furious screech to rent the air, as it had done in the aforementioned forest.
Tyla loved it. Similar to his home, he was the master of its navigation. He had many ways that he knew would impress Ashmin and, of course, Ryn. He had plans of navigating the maze. Plans that should work.
Ashmin merely admired the scenery and worked out how her Pokemon could help navigate the gym.
“Alright guys. Tyla, do you think you can find the way through the maze?” Tyla nodded enthusiastically, the vines on top of his head quivering in excitement. “Ryn, I’ll need you defend us as we travel through the maze. You ok with that?”
Glancing around, still fearful, Ryn nodded.
“Alright, let’s go!”

~♥~♥~

True to Tyla’s plans, they made it through the maze fairly quickly. The moment they saw the exit, Tyla unfurled his vines. Ryn squeaked gladly.
They strode out from the maze, Ashmin happy to finally have a chance to verse the gym leader of the town.
“I’d like to verse you, Shibi!” she declared.
Shibi nodded. “Face me then.” He grabbed one of his Pokeballs, and sent out Leafeon.
“Tyla, Ryn, let’s show him what we got!” She returned Ryn, and directed Tyla forward.
The battle was on.

~♥~♥~

“Ryn, use Flamethrower!” Ashmin commanded.
Ryn took a deep breath, calming her nerves in the process, and exhaled. A torrent of fire shot from her mouth, surrounding Grovyle.
“Grovyle, counter with that Solarbeam you were charging!”
Grovyle obliged, shooting our a beam of light at the fire. They struggled, then exploded in the centre.
“Flare Blitz, Ryn!” Ashmin commanded.
Ryn smiled faintly. The flame on her back flared brightly, starting to surround Ryn completely. She sprinted forward, and leapt through the cloud of smoke at Grovyle.
When the smoke cleared, Ryn was panting next to Grovyle. Grovyle had been knocked out.
“Good job.” Shibi commented. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the Seed Badge. “You earned this. Congratulations.”
Taking the badge, Ashmin resisted striking a dramatic pose. Such urges were always strong when she succeeded.
She returned Ryn, and smiled at Shibi, before leaving. “Back to the Pokemon Centre.” She murmured softly.

Just as Ashmin had left, a man with silver hair on a motorcycle showed up, followed by several other bikers, some men, and some women. They were clad in black leather jackets with some metal plating, but they all had the same white galaxy-like symbol on their clothes. The leader, who had just dismounted his ride, had pale skin and polarized sunglasses that hid red eyes once he took them off. A Sneasel who seemed to have a wicked attitude hopped off of the motorcycle, having been sitting behind its master. "Hey, kid." He called to the young woman who had just left, and was currently standing in between him and the door. "Step aside. I gotta speak ta da Gym Leada. He's gotta have some important info fo' Team Nebulus." He grinned, showing of his pointed canines as he paced around her. "What? Ya neva heard o' Team Nebulus? O ya so scared o' us that ya just can't move aside like ya should?" He then chuckled. "O' maybe you're just a bit thick, and came outta da Gym 'cause you can't win thanks ta your tiny lil' brain!" The entire group, even the Sneasel, laughed at that one.

Ashmin stopped in her tracks. She listened to the odd mans insults, and turned to face him. Her eyes were narrowed slightly, but also seemed to enjoy the challenge.
"For you information, big head, I just defeated the gym leader with my 'tiny lil' brain'. But, no matter how tiny my brain is, your brain surely must be smaller. Honestly. If you're so almighty and powerful - which I can assume you think you are - then you would at least now the slightest manners."
She stared at him.
"And you would now that I, Ashmin Rin-Clarendu of New Bark Town, don't obey idiots like you." she added, grabbing her Pokeballs. She was ever so glad she'd given her Pokemon a few Oran Berries, just in case a wild pokemon fought her before she got to the Pokemon Centre.

The man sneered. "Ya apparently don't know who ya messin' with. I'm Manos, and I'm one o' Team Nebulus' hot shots! Da Gym Leada ya just fought is supposed ta have information on Legendary Pokemon, but it seems as though he ain't as good as he makes 'imself out ta be! So let's tear down his lil' hut, since he's no longa o' any use ta us!" Immediately, several of the members of Team Nebulus withdrew Dark and Steel-Type Pokemon, such as Poochenya, Purrloin, Magnemite, and Aron. Manos himself sent out a Houndour as Sneasel stepped back. "Houndour! Light 'em up with a Fire Spin!" Houndour started to create flames in its mouth, then launched a circle of flame at the building.

Sudden change of approach. Crazy man. Surely that kind of attitude wasn't good for Team Whatever. Would lead from rags to rubble in moments with a wrong action.
Ashmin disliked him even more when he commanded his Houndour to set fire to the gym. The whole building was filled with flammable things, and Pokemon who were oblivious to the danger they would face if the building caught ablaze.
She wasn't standing for that.
"Go Ryn!" she said suddenly. Ryn appeqared in a sudden flash of light, faster than she would normally appear. Perhaps she sensed the haste in Ashmin's command.
"Use Flamethrower on the Fire Spin!" Ashmin commanded. Ryn texhaled her torrents of flame, each aimed to strike at points of the Fire Spin. It was a somewhat risky manouver, fighting fire with fire, but it had to be done. To defend the gym.
"If you're gonna try and burn this gym down, you'll have to go through me first!"

Manos smirked. "Aww! How adowabuw! A widdle baby Cyndaquil!" He mocked in a babyish voice. His goons also laughed at the fun their superior was making at the expense of his opponent. "Did ya use type-casting ta win ya shiny new Gym Badge? Well, let's see what happens when fire meets fire! Houndour, attack that Cyndaquil with Snarl!" Houndour started to build up an angry growl that raised in intensity until he barked loudly, then raised his gums to show off his sharp fangs as he did exactly that: he snarled at his opponent. However, something about the snarl seemed rather intense and powerful, like it carried much more weight behind it.

"Sure, Rockius sounds good" Caden smiled as he returned his Pokemon. He slid the Pokeballs into his bag and looked back at Rose. "Well, goodbye for now" he said as he started to walk off. He took out his Pokedex and opened the map application. It read "Terramean City: 2.76 miles Southeast". With this, Caden started back on his path to Terramean City.
In less than an hour, Caden had reached Terramean City. Upon entering, he headed for the Pokemon Center to restore his Pokemon to full health for his upcoming Gym Battle. "Of course promising him that battle means I can't go slacking off" he thought, rerunning his last battle with Rose in his head as his Pokemon were resting with Nurse Joy.
Shortly after, Caden retrieved his Pokemon and made his way to the Terramean Gym, where he witnessed an interesting sight. The acting Gym Leader, Randy, was just leaving for a trip to the Unova Region, leaving his father in charge of the gym. Regardless, Caden entered the gym for his match. The rules for this particular Gym was interesting. Before the start of the battle, a holographic 3 by 3 grid dropped down before Caden. As Randy's father explained, pressing one of the 9 panels would release a Pokemon associated with that panel. Caden touched the top-left one, and a cannon-like device from the side of the gym battlefield ejected a Pokeball, which burst apart revealing a Swampert.
"This one needs some more experience" Caden thought, selecting a Pokemon of his own to counter Swampert. "It's risky on my part, but if I can't accomplish this, then the Evraflow Conference is out of the question" he decided as he hurled the Pokeball onto the battlefield. The mole-like Drilbur took its place on the battlefield, ready to fight. "Dril, Dril!" it called as it raised its claws.

"Now, begin!" the referee declared...

Several moves later, Drilbur and Swampert were both standing strong, but with one large difference between them - Swampert was in a dizzy mess, having been hit with a Swagger attack. As Randy's father called for a Muddy Water, nothing came out - instead, it looked as if Swampert had hit itself. "Perfect..." Caden thought as he raised his arm in preparation. "Drilbur, finish this with Drill Run!" he commanded as Drilbur nodded. It raised its two arms above its head, creating a drill-like pose. Then, it fired its body at the droopy Swampert, making a direct hit. Swampert was down, and the match was over. However, the action wasn't - upon knocking out Swampert, Drilbur started glowing, becoming shrouded in a harsh, white light. While cloaked by the light, several visible features had changed. When the light dissipated, it was no longer a Drilbur standing before Caden, but an Excadrill. "Wow!" Caden thought as he stooped down to stroke his new Excadrill.
Following this excotement, Caden received the badge from the Gym Leader, thanked him, then walked out, making his way back to the Pokemon Center to rest up a bit.

Rose was still beaming as he arrived in Terramean. I have a rival now!
Rose walked into the Pokémon Centre and handed his Pokémon to the Nurse Joy. This Pokémon Centre, unlike the one in Gradnis, had a machine to heal the Pokémon. As Rose's Pokémon were undergoing treatment, he pulled the egg from Shibi out of his bag and began examining it. At first, it appeared that nothing had changed..."Ah! A crack! I see a crack!" He raced over to the Egg Care area in the Pokémon Centre and showed the egg to an attendant.
"Hmmm...It doesn't appear that it's going to hatch quite yet...Are you going to be challenging the Terramean Gym?"
Rose nodded. "Yeah, why?"
The attendant smiled. "Well, I'd say that you should probably train a little bit more for the Gym, and we'll call you back. I mean, after all, you were one of the ones out having that battle in the desert, weren't you?"
Rose took this hint well, and he took his Pokémon from Nurse Joy before leaving for the desert once more.

*~♪~♪~*

Rose arrived at the Terramean Gym a few hours later, still not having received a call from the Pokémon Centre.
After the leader walked in, he explained the Grid System to Rose, who understood immediately. Rose then touched the center button on the grid, and the leader smiled.
"This is the strongest Pokémon in the Gym...I hope you're ready."
A cannon that hung over the top of the gym shot a Pokéball down which burst open, revealing a Rhydon.
"Gah! I wasn't—No, a trainer must be prepared for every situation. Let's go...Scraggy!" Rose cast out Scraggy's ball, and he took his place on the field, sizing up the Drill Pokémon. "Scraggy...Scrag, Scraggy!"
The referee held his two flags in the air. "Let the battle...BEGIN!"

*~♪~♪~*

Both Pokémon were exhausted; Scraggy more noticeably so than Rhydon. Things didn't look good for Rose...But he still had one more trick up his sleeve.
"Scraggy, Dragon Boost Max!"
Scraggy stomped with gradually increasing fury on the ground, and he flexed his arms. Suddenly, a red aura burst from around him, sending a small shockwave through the Gym. "Now that Scraggy's Attack, Defense, and Speed have been maximized by this combination of Bulk Up and Dragon Dance, there's no way you're surviving this next attack! Go, Frost Drain!"
Scraggy's fist gained the swirling green aura characteristic of a Drain Punch, but then it changed to a more icy-blue tone, showing that Scraggy was now using Ice Punch as well.
Scraggy began to race forward in a blur. "Scraggy Scraggy Scraggy Scraggy Scraggy Scrag...GY!!!!!!" Scraggy slammed his fist into the abdomen of the Drill Pokémon, once again sending shockwaves through the Gym. Scraggy pulled his fist away and backflipped toward his trainer, his energy now sufficiently replenished. Rhydon, however, was not so energetic, and collapsed to the floor instantaneously, defeated...

*~♪~♪~*

Rose sat in the waiting room of the Pokémon Centre, admiring his new Geo Badge. "Couldn't have done it without Scraggy..."
"Rose Blackwood? Your Pokémon are ready."
"Great, thanks," Rose said, taking his Pokéballs back from the Nurse. It was then that he noticed Caden was there too. He probably just finished his battle, too.
Rose decided to let him be and went to check on how his egg was faring.
"Ah, good, you're back!" The attendant smiled at him. "We were just about to call you, actually. Your egg is getting ready to hatch, you see."
Rose was now too excited for words. He watched closely as pieces of the egg's shell broke away, revealing an intense light...
Finally, the last piece broke away and the light burst outward. What was left in its place was a new baby Treecko!
"Aww! She's so cute!" Rose and a nurse said in unison. Rose picked the Treecko up, and she examined him closely. Then, she fired a Bullet Seed in his face.
"Well, it looks like it'll take some time to get her warmed-up to me..."
And with that, Rose put her away in a new ball and went up to the Trainer Dorms so that he could take a rest before he went back on the road.

As Leonard strolled disoriented across the desert sand, he was wondering to himself about how it would be like to challenge the Evraflow Conference. He imagined himself and Bulbasaur, in the finals, trying to win the Evraflow Conference. He knew there was a slight possibility that he would not make it out of this desert. But then, he realized, there is hope, for he could see Terramean City just in his line of sight. He ran to it with the last bit of energy, knowing that he had finally got out, and that he had a chance to survive, he ran, and ran, until he could run no longer; even then he still ran. And finally, he had made it. A lot of thoughts were crawling through his head, the first being: Water. He headed straight for the Pokemon Center, where he healed up for the next important day, challenging the Terramean Gym. But he was not the waiting type. Now that his strength returned to him, he wanted to go into the desert again. So he walked, until he found a watering hole, with a small, cute Larvitar drinking from it. "Bulbasaur, use Vine WHip!" The Bulbasaur has obviously caught the Larvitar by surprise. The skill had looked like it had done a lot of damage. After a bit of battling, Leonard finally threw a PokeBall at the weakened Larvitar, yelling, "Go! PokeBall!" The Ball he hurled absorbed said Larvitar, then began to shake vigorously. It was caught. Leonard had quickly headed back to Terramean City, to rest for the new day ahead of him, and the new badge was going to get.

Whilst on his way to Gradnis Village, Silver thought he'd do some training in the fields before he gets there as he felt his pokemon just wasn't strong enough to even beat the first gym. The only problem was
He put up some make-shift targets in the field, and sent out all of his pokemon. First up was Totodile, Silver wanted to power up the power of Ice Punch and Water Gun, there were 5 targets and Silver wanted them down within 5 seconds. It was a tall order for Totodile who had some doubts, but Silver had faith in the little guy and that faith transferred itself to Totodile and fired a continuous Water Gun that was able to knock down all of the targets. Silver was happy with how far Totodile had gone with using Water Gun and then tested Ice Punch under Pressure. This time the targets were in a circle and Silver wanted to make sure Totodile can make swift turns whilst still using its attack, Silver and his 3 other pokemon gave Totodile a morale boost, and so Totodile struck down the first target and then swiftly took down another with his other hand, but to test if it wasn't a fluke, Silver encouraged it to knock down the others which Totodile managed to do, then from out of the nearby bushes came a Shinx, and Totodile thought he'd attack that with Ice Punch. The unaware Shinx didn't know what had hit him until it was too late, Silver saw this and instead of being annoyed at Totodile he was impressed at how Totodile's speed had gone up and got out a pokeball and threw it at Shinx *nudge 1, budge 2, nudge 3* Shinx was caught
An hour or so later Silver had increased the power and speed of Larvesta, Starly and Bidoof, with Larvesta learning Flamethrower, Starly learning Aerial Ace and Bidoof learning Cut, Silver was poud of all of his pokemon and felt that he was ready to challenge the Gradnis gym.
About 30 minutes later, some buildings came into view, and when Silver saw it, he decided to run as he wanted to get there as soon as poosible, however, he tripped and fell over, but he was able to get up and still make his way towards Gradnis.
