Me for Admin.
Crab for Admin.

[s]Obama vs. McCain. [/s]

Folks, if you don't vote for WhirlwindKnight, you are RACIST! Yes, I know that's race-baiting, BUT IT'S THE TRUTH! WhirlwindKnight is an agent of change. He IS a 99er like the rest of fellow YCMericans.

WhirlwindKnight is a Muslim, a Marxist, a Arab in disguise, a Kenyan, a Commie, a racist with a deep-seated hatred for white people, and his wife is a American-hating Zulu. Sure, vote for WhirlwindKnight, the Earthbound Negro. Is he even a real YCMer? I want to see his IP address!

-If we base this on popularity, someone less able than Icy might become Admin.
All joking aside, if there was an election for a 3rd admin, it WOULD be a popularity contest. That's what an election is. People who vote aren't informed. They don't research what needs to be done. The candidates tell them what's up, they take it for what it is, and vote. If you noticed, Obama didn't win because of his stance on the issues. It was because people were sick of Republicans, he wasn't a Republican, he came off as Mr. Nice Guy You Can Have A Drink With (a trait idiot voters look for,) and he would be the first black president (actually, he's mixed race, half-black and half-white, so hands off my president, Dedronte and Shaniqua.) What was I saying again? Oh yeah. Holding an election for 3rd admin with the YCM community would just be a popularity contest and we'd probably end up with.

Can we just agree that this is unlikely to ever happen?
I believe we all do agree that this'll probably never happen within our YCM life. This is sort of like the idealist "What if YCMaker does come back and reads this thread" thing.

Which is why I'm against public voting for a 3rd admin, not to offend the modding team (y'all do your jobs, s'far as I can tell). I just prefer getting the best choice possible, without having outside opinion be all idiotic and sway all floppy-like. I'd rather just have the mods themselves choose the most qualified for the position.

I'm for public voting, so long as afterwards it goes to the mods for review like with all other new mods. People do in fact vote for good mods, they also vote for bad ones though, which is why moderator review helps.

Knowing YCMaker, he'll make no other Admins or just choose someone else without asking anybody else.

I said it once and I'll say it again: I can make a second YCM that looks similar, using the same forum software, possibly add the card maker to it as well, with an active Admin. I stopped progress on it because I would need approval from the Moderators if it were to be made and advertised on YCM or not. I also need to know from the Mods if anything needs to be done to it differently than how YCM did it.

If any Mods would like to get this on the road, PM me.

As good of an idea as that is, it would be impossible to convince everyone to migrate over so you would wind up with two broken sites.

We don't need to convince everyone, we just use it as a second site. And it wouldn't be broken, trust me.

Also, my plain is not to match it to the tee, it's to make a second-place for people on YCM to chat. Not to duplicate it.

So has anyone pointed out that is has been officially a month since YCMaker last even checked to see if this place exists?

See, I never checked his last log in thing often, but I don't think it ever got that bad. Normally he'd at least log on to pretend he is doing something. This is something totally different.

YCMaker does not give a s*** about this Forum anymore. Day after day I hope that YCMaker will sort things but it never happens. I've now moved to Yugico for designing Cards due to his lack of Card Maker Updates.

Pinned for being the most important topic on the forum. Hey, YCMaker, if you're ever willing to actually address the issue of your total inadequacy as an admin instead of sticking your fingers in your ears, please note that even non-moderators are acutely aware of how desperately a new admin is needed.

In the end, promoting more admins is equivocal to promoting Super Mods that have the extra power to promote more Mods and Super Mods. I don't mind the current degree to which posts are enforced. Frankly I can't help but question my rationale in having supported this. If there were ever active admins I'd more than likely resent them vehemently. Any faults that can be found with the board's layout are hardly in urgent need of correction and so any changes that other admins could make would be formed by their own interests/whimsy. Any problems with the card maker couldn't be solved by another admin unless they were able to work with its coding. Public voting on moderators would just result in the alienation of popular members. There's more to be lost in having more admins than gained.

Why?

The site's problems are never of a "the site will die tomorrow if this isn't fixed this second" sort; they're of a "nothing has actually been maintained in three months" sort. We're not fighting an evil overlord that needs defeating, we're fighting entropy.

And as for the card maker... why wouldn't a third admin be able to work on the card maker? We could easily have had Xyz's a year ago.

Why would anyone even consider having public voting on such a matter? Sure, there's more to be lost if you go out of your way to do everything in the absolute stupidest way possible, but if you're not being willfully dumb, there's really nothing to be lost.

So are there any current mods that are experienced with web development?
I'm taking a Web Design class at the moment, and I think that if I had the appropriate programs on my laptop, I could add the Xyz option to the card maker if there was a suitable card image that could be used. Ranks might be harder to do though.
